  1. Mossy roofs

With any job we do, whatever debris we create, we get rid of it somehow. That's our job folks, we're in the cleaning business. Don't leave anything laying around for the customer to clean up!
  2. Cemetery Head Stone Cleaning

We just got off a big job that we cleaned all the headstones in a cemetary due to a misshap at a company. Total stone restoration and the caretakers, and people that go to the church were impressed. There's only like 14 active members of this church, and some of the headstones dated back to the 1700's. Guy was burried there from the Revolutionary War. I found him, the caretakers were looking for him for a long time they said. Anyhow, one product we used was from Zep "zep PH Perfect" is what it's called. Worked pretty good. What worked better, didn't hurt any of the different types of stones, nor kill any grass or harm anything else was the soap that we make ourselves. The PH Perfect, as explained to me, was good for any type of stone. At least that's what the salesman said to me. So, maybe that'll help you out.
  3. Crayola Cryons

Ok, I've been MIA for a long time, but: Blood Clot Black Ya'll made my mind think in rare form!
  4. Hope everyone is doing well ...

Just wanted to say Hi again, and let everyone know I'm still around. I do not get much time to myself lately to post, or browse. I have taken a part time job, along with helping my husband run our business. It's only 3 days a week, and sorta in the same field. I work for a Vacuum Truck company, so it's pretty cool ... Getting to learn a little about that business also. I also wanted to thank Beth for getting my deck sample pack to me quickly! I can't wait to try it out on our deck, whenever that's going to be. As you all know, tis the season to be busy! I hope everyone out there is busy as all get out! Melissa
  5. How to overcome price objections

Compare to rivals If they tell you that Fred down the road is cheaper, say something like:"I am sure Fred knows what his widgets are worth. Just as we know what ours are worth. And that's why ours aren't the cheapest on the market." Make sure to NOT talk down about your rivals. This is negative and not something you want to do. IMO at least. As far as comparing services to what "Fred" is giving and what "You" would be giving, with our services that's easy "Well, does Fred include washing the outside of your gutters, rinsing the sidewalks, porch areas and drive way in his bid? No? Well, the dirt from your house has to go somewhere, and that's one of the places it's going to be. We rinse these areas off for you, and it's all included in our bid." Just to try to get things on track for the Pressure Washing industry as to some suggestions to say to your customer. :)
  6. POP UPS on the Grime scene!

Another good program is at: http://www.webroot.com it's called spy sweeper. There's a free version to download. I do not get popups here when I surf either. I use to be getting them like Rob stated, and I can't remember where I got it from, but it was annoying and it is taken care of now!
  7. Tax FYI

I had to call the SSA to find out if a form I printed from my PC was acceptable to go to the SSA with the w3 transmittals for employee earnings (it wasn't). The lady that answered the phone informed me that I could do this all online, which is fantastic. http://www.ssa.gov/employer/ There's the link if anyone is interested. Since I do not collect a paycheck, I actually had to call in and have them set up the information to force it through. I just had to fax a few things, they called me back with my PIN. I thought others may be interested in this. The lady also told me that eventually they will be going all paperless. I believe she told me by the year 2006. I'm not real sure how they can go paperless for all employers, some folks don't have access online or to a computer! But this is what I was told. It seems to be pretty simple, and you can actually print out your W2s for employees from this site also. I'd already had mine printed from Quickbooks.
  8. credit card scam

Just fixing the link, the one in the above post gave me an error. http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/creditcard.asp
  9. Ask Dr. Wise

Ask Dr. Wise Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true? A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it. Don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable slop. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy? HELLO... Cocoa beans .. another vegetable!!!"It's the best feel-good food around!" --------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. One more thing... "When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila and salt."
  10. It's me (Warning, picture)

I will not post a picture of me pressure washing. *laughs* Heck, that's even if there was ever a picture taken of me doing actual WORK! I know what I look like when I go to a job site, and it's not anywhere near attractive. Especially once I get done with the work. ;)
  11. I wanted to say ...

No no no, not Dallas. We'll be going to Nashville.
  12. It's me (Warning, picture)

    Ok, here I am :):o
  13. I wanted to say ...

Ok, I'll post a pic. HAhahaha. It's from last year around this time, I think. I just know it was cold out and snow on the ground. I look somewhat the same, little thinner, hair a little longer, but it'll give you a general idea! I have to post it in another thread, can't figure out how to get a picture onto this. As far as pumps go, I believe we have a general pump in the truck now, I can't remember! We're not going to look at the Vac trucks, although I do find them cool to look at and would love to be in that business. We actually rent to someone that's in that business, their trucks are nice as HELL. So, if the need came up for one we could be hooked up. (No, we don't put out that much water to have to get that type of equipment! LOL) At the convention they also have contacts there for pressure washing needs. It's why we're going, since he's in the market for a new pump. He just wants to see what's available out there and make a decision on what he wants to get.
  14. I wanted to say ...

I just wanted you all to know I've not dropped off the face of the earth. I've been busy with the Holidays (As has everyone else) and also been doing a little bit of traveling, trying to get end of year stuff done, along with what I have to do all the time, and gather things for the accountant at the end of the year. Even if ya'll don't miss me (who wouldn't miss me? hahaha) Just wanted to touch base, say Hi, what's up and hope everyone is doing good! We've been doing some maintenance on the trucks and things like that while the weather's been too cold to work. Going to be getting her relettered too. There's just certain temps we won't work in, don't want to get the customers all jacked off or mess up our equipment. Even though I know there are some that will work in the 'extreme' colds, we don't. I'm hoping to soon be able to get some work done on web sites so I can post a URL or two for you all to see. I'm a little bit shy at showing what I've done. Anyone here going, or ever go to, the International Waste Haulers convention that goes on in Nashville, Tn. every year? We'll be going this year, looking at new pumps, and dreaming of buying one of those cool "suck trucks" hahaha. Main reason is for contacts of pump sellers though. We already have the one in the truck, and one that my husband has had specially made and souped up, but we want a spare "Just incase". Anyhow, I trust everyone is doing well and getting at least some business during these cold months, for those that are in the states that it gets cold. For those that are in the states to work year round, I hope you're busy! Melissa
  15. Aspirins

A guy is out with buddies - has a few drinks - is feeling a little frisky but, true to his wife, goes home. He finds her sound asleep in bed with her mouth wide open, so he gets two aspirin and drops them in her mouth. She starts to choke, but recovers and asks - "What did you put in my mouth?" He says, "Two aspirin." She replies, "BUT I DON'T HAVE A HEADACHE!" He says, - "That's all I wanted to hear".
