  1. Telescoping wands

I have an extension wand in my shop you guys can have it. Never used a Coress so I cant offer my opinion on them. But i own 5 xjets and have purchased 10 over the years. They are an invaluable tool for our industry and anyone who uses them would understand how well they work and how much time they save you as an operator.
  2. black streaks on gutters! what do you use to clean them with?

Our House Mix when made properly cleans most gutters. When we have gutters that are resistant we can X-jet a stronger application on just the gutters and we have great success with that. If we have gutters that are still resistant we then move on to F-13 or gutter Zap. You need to be careful with these products because they can damage other surfaces around the property but they work great. We keep awesome on our trucks for small touch up but we in no way want to manually clean all gutters by hand because the time it would take would make us lose money.
  3. Real Estate Agents

I cant say that we have a steady stream of support from Real Estate agents. We have done work for agents but have not been able to have them be a consistent source of work. We tried offering a discount to their buyers and still no interest. You would think that it would be in their interest that the house they are selling would be easier to sell clean but we have never gotten the response thaT seemed right. We have had a lot of success with Realestate investors flipping houses and they do offer steady work from that sector so that is what we focus on.
  4. New Power Washing Season Coming

We have always done Home Advisor, Local advertising and all the usual door hangers etc. We have been lacking with our internet presence so we have a new website and are working on our visibility on line. John
  5. One residential machine??

We use both M5 X-Jet for House washing and we use a 12 volt 7gpm Fatboy or Shureflow Pump for Roofcleaning. We like the X-jet because you can reach upwards of 3 stories. You can apply chemical without ladders and can also clean most vertical surfaces without ladders. The roof setup gets the right chemical on the roof surface at low pressure.
  6. How to remove rust stains on vinyl siding

Guys how about rust on an asphalt roof ? Would Oxalic be safe and effective
  7. Whats the Best Surface Cleaner?

I agree that the size of the surface cleaner depends on the GPM of your machine. I have owned them all over the years and for the type of work that you said you are doing we use Floating surface cleaners. The wheels are great on the larger units for commercial work but the floating units are easier to use on residential and small comercial work. When we started out we did well with General pumps Hammer head surface cleaner they are 19"-20". They where priced reasonable in the $300 range. If you are doing more volume I would recommend the Wisper Wash Classic. They are very durable and can be found around $700. They are well worth the price. We run this unit runs very well on all machines up to 8 GPM. Good Luck! John
  8. Stains On Brick From Aluminum Siding

The problem you are having is coming from the aluminum windows. What will remove these stains are citric acid. Have a your chemical supplier make it in a gel format so you can apply it with a roller or brush. This ensures that the product stays in place so it works, dwell time is important. Cover all windows since acids can etch glass. After 15minutes you should remove using heat. This is not a standard cleaning. This would be considered a building restoration and the cost should reflect that. You can contact me if you have any further questions. John Greco 856.906.6181
  9. South fla, broward county, are my pices too cheap? Or expensive?

There is always someone cheaper. Your price sounds fair. There is no way a legit company can perform any residential service for that amount of money. Consider your costs of doing business. Most companies have a minimum charge thats more than $115. Now most roof cleanings cost more to perform due to the cost off the chemical and the time to safely perform the service. These points need to be coveyed during the sales process and you will close more of these leads than you lose. Most people would agree that when someone buys on price alone they are normally a headache waiting to happen. We all see the companies that hand write signs on posterboard or old pieces of sheetrock with sharpies and litter the town with crazy prices. Now if someone calls these people they get what they deserve.
  10. Who has Worker's Comp?

We choose to carry workers comp for 2 reasons. We do a large amount of commercial work and many companies require that you have it. Second with the type of residential work that has a higher degree off difficulty like roof cleaning. I feel more comfortable that my guys are insured and in turn my company is protected.
  11. Should pressure washing companies be licensed???

I vote yes. I believe that it adds credibility to our industry. It will not stop people from Hiring the weekend hack but it will help people understand the difference. We show up with a fully trained crew on each truck. The vehicles are insured. The workers are insured and our work is insured and guaranteed. We use the best materials For each application. You are then competing with a guy that owns a pickup and a power washer Making weekend money. A license would insure that each company has at a minimum the correct Amount of insurance for all parts of the business. Once they are forced to make that kind of commitment let's see if they are willing to do a 2 story 2500 sf house for $100. Again people will still hire the unlicensed contractor but there will be less of them and explaining The difference becomes much easier.

  13. Pressure Washing Management Guidelines - Newbies!

Carlos, I was at the meeting in PA and was great to meet all of the people that have been offering my company advice for the last few years. It is really nice to have such a great resource for our industry. I never got the chance to introduce myself with all that was going on but I do apreciate owners like yourself, Beth and Rod, Ken Fuller Etc. for being so helpful. I would also like a copy of these forms. You can never have enough resources. My email is maxpressurewash@yahoo.com. Thanks, John Greco Maximum Pressure Washing Marlton, NJ 08053 856.906.6181
