Believe it or not, EFC-38 was created to be able to strip cwf. It has worked on cwf in cases where we were just doing a maintenance wash and it took of some of it where it was thinly applied to the rails. HD-80 would be the better choice though if you are needing to do a complete strip. 6-8 oz/gallon and keep applying to the rails as these will be the most intact and take the longest to strip. Cwf turns cloudy once the product is ready to be rinsed off. Hope you can post some pics! Rod~

Believe me, we know exactly what you mean. I think everyone faces the same challenge in that regard, regardless of where you live. Beth

Post some pics! :groovy: Beth -
Steve, This is a great tool, and is in use by several companies out there that I know of. I suggest you put one together that fits your company and local area. If you like, you are welcome to email a copy to me and I would be glad to give you some feedback. Beth :groovy3::groovy2::groovy:

You're better off using HD-80 on that product. I know HD-80 will remove it. We have done that. Hope this helps. :groovy3: Beth

Deck Pics and Question?
Beth n Rod replied to svp07's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
cca=Chromated Copper Arsenate A preservative solution mixed with water and infused by high pressure in a hyperbaric chamber into the wood to help it withstand exposure to ground contact and insect infestation. Sometimes it leaches out of the wood in viens which contain pores open enough to allow it to escape if an acid has disloged it. Rod~ -

Flagstone is a porous surface and home to the most wonderful microbial infestations that can be found in a residential yard. I have used bleach and outdoor bleach in order to get this condition to improve but never been able to get it totally clean. Sodium hydroxide can be risky but a possibilty as long as you rinse well after neutralizing. Pressure is the biggest enemy, since it is a shale stone. ie: it will flake and shale off if hit too hard with pressure. Dwell time! Hope this helps. Rod~

We use sil-o-wet from envirospec and the results are better if you apply hot with a dry surface. Will go on if the surface is still wet, but I think it looks better when applied to a dry surface. Just call me pickey! Rod~

We have not washed out project yet, and it may be done at a time outside of the official week, due to our current projects schedule. We have a couple we are working on, just a matter of scheduling them, probably in August. Beth -
Thank Paul, you hit the nail right on the head. If I am at the PC I am not necessarily in a thread. But the numbers in my signature and the MS Messenger are a sure way to get me. I don't see every thread right away, although I try to get to them as fast as I can. At times I am out of the office as well. Beth

Unfortunately, not all percarbonates are created equal. I see no surfactant in the mix and alot of filler that adds weight. Tried and true is what I use and leave the liability to the manufacturers who know what they are doing. (and can afford the insurance) Rod~

Deck Pics and Question?
Beth n Rod replied to svp07's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
This deck has a severe moisture problem, Everett hit it on the head, sometimes you will have to bring out the big guns in orders to get rid of a problem like this. (sh and neutralize) I have also wondered if it could be a vein of cca leaching out of the wood since the moisture content is higher and the moss and algae enjoy an acidic environment. Speculation Everett? Rod~ -
Should be working fine now :groovy:

Technical difficulties.... Stay tuned. We'll be back soon. We have some updating to do folks... Beth

Mildew is the black stuff that grows in your shower curtain of you don't wash it. It likes moisture and warmth. Mold come in many forms. I'll see if I can find a few links and post them in the Library Forum. Beth

Matthew, it's OK to lead with price if you have to due to market saturation and to being new. I can't think of too many people that start out being the most expensive company out there. Your confidence and ability to sell as the high bidder will come in time. You might try aiming for the middle of the pack and being the same price as the next lowest bid as a first step. Educate the homeowner and they will close themselves. And don't call yourself a low baller - tell yourself instead that you are leading with price as you enter the market and strive to change it. You'll be fine. We're all here for you. Beth

Your best defense in a market such as the one you have described is to add on other services and see if you can sell multiples. I agree that there are different markets that will bear different things. This is exactly why it's better for some to use coupons in ads, and for others it makes no sense. It depends entirely on the market, and your strategy for that market. Baby boomers don't spend the same way senior citizens do. It's a fact of life. Young urban professionals and families in industrial areas spend their money differently. Some are do it yourselfers, some are not. We always encourage others to share here so that others may learn and be prosperous. We all want to succeed. Beth
