How many of us have ever suffered a chemical burn? What kind of chemical was it? What type of safety precautions did you take to help prevent this in the future? Let's help each other work safely.

Stripping a solid stain off of this deck.
Beth n Rod replied to WoodDoc's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
There is an environmentally better alternative to 'anti-freeze- (aka-ethylene glycol) that we use from a company in pa. called ACR Products. Someone down in your area may have an equivalent but the purpose of the product is to extend the reactive range of sodium hydroxide based products to include acrylic based stains. You may also need to use warmer water than tap to ensure the effectiveness of the chemical strippers ability to remove the stain. Rod!~ -
Who is the creator of the PW "Roundtable" meetings?
Beth n Rod replied to John T's question in The Club House
There was a guy who is not in the industry now - his was the first I recall. It was at Dave & Busters in PA. But I also recall Robert Hinderliter saying they had them before that. Beth -

Can't wait to see the afters! :-) Beth -
I have seen full timers that have less skill than a right handed person using their left hand to work, and visa versa. It's not a matter of full or part time. It's your dedication to the craft and how well you master your skill and work the business. Beth

Your favorite Industry bulletin boards and why?
Beth n Rod replied to John T's question in The Club House
I agree, TGS IS awesome. And, it's professional and not a locker room like some other forums tend to be. It had the best wood info hands down and perhaps the best residential info overall. Beth -

What's you vehicle of choice...and why?
Beth n Rod posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Everyone has a truck, van, box truck, of some kind and they bought it for various reasons...but I think it would be interesting to know after the fact, what do you think would best fill your business needs? For example, we started out with a Ford Ranger XLT because I needed a way to rig up the unit to avoid lifting the machine in and out of the vehicle which was killing my back. After a few years, we were finding that if we could keep the machine from being exposed to the cold, we could work more during the winter. So for this reason, we bought a Sprinter Van by Freightliner. It keeps everything out of the elements. Trailers are out of the question due to HOA rules. The Ford is gas, The Sprinter is diesel. Funny thing is, the cargo capacity of the Sprinter is far greater than the Ford yet it beats the pants off it in gas mileage. next! Rod~ -
