  1. Rain rain go AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RAIN! I am sick of allt his RAIN! You plan your day and it RAINS! You think it will rain and iti decides not to RAIN! It refuses to do it on a schedule. It won't stay dry long enough. I'm growing webbing between my toes from all this RAIN! :arg:  :soapbox: :bullistic
  2. Airless sprayer/solid stain

Exactly. I think you are more likely to have a problem with a pickett fince than a stockade fence. In any event, good luck. The other thing I have seen is a need to spray again over some areas that don't cover as well and where the solid looks lighter. Beth
  3. Rain rain go AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could, believe me I would. We have even toyed with the idea of tarping off decks to try to keep water off....kind of like uptting up a tent over them. Problem is, they come in too many shapes and sizes and are not all ground level. :(
  4. Airless sprayer/solid stain

Scott, Yes. Backbrushing a solid can be just as important as it is on a semitransparent, since you are going for an even look. If this is your first shot at wood, I suggest working with a semi-transparent. They are more forgiving, less frustrating, and make less mess if you are not used to an airless. Call us if you need any help or advice at all when you are working on this. We're here for you. Beth & Rod :) :)
  5. I would suggest a maintenance wash with a percarbonate, followed by reapplication of the same product, if they know what it is. You'll have to determine if it's just the horizontals that need attention or if all surfaces need it. Typically, you can run into compatibility issues if you apply one product over top of another, as tey are designed to do one of two things: bond to the wood bond to itself as a second coat or reapplication Hope this helps. Lemme guess... Hints from Heloise?
  9. Smilies and such

Just use the smilies list when you post, and use the code for the basic set. Or, copy paste the images....:groovy:
  10. Pet Odor and Paint

I doubt it...not without washing it first!
  11. Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th everyone! Take a minute during this day to think about why we are celebrating and truly enjoy this Holiday. We live in a great country whose founding fathers worked hard to develop the framework that still governs us today. Beth & Rod
  12. New Faces!

:) :( thanks Paul! Happy 4th to you too!
  13. Why certify?

This post is in response to a post on another BBS, where a member voices his opinion and asks questions. PWNA has been offering a Wood certification program since 1999, when it was developed with assistance from both Wolman and Sunbrite, in an effort to offer a certification that doesn't have a lable from a manufacturer on it, but rather the backing of a National organization. It's not new. For those who wished to have a credential that would allow them to present their company with the kind of National certification often found in other industries, this became an important step. The advantages that are easiest to spot are: * Quicker launch for new companies * Sales advantages over competition * Potential higher dollar per job The PWNA is currently working on additional certification programs in various areas, as well as higher level certification in existing areas. These programs take time to develop. The PWNA isn't for everyone. But for those who are willing to give it a chance, well, you might just find that it's a valuable tool just like a high school diploma, college degree, or other membership or accreditation. 14. HD80 on Ashpalt Roofs

Yes, it would be a potential hazard to the shingles, and is not suggested (HD-80). You're right, most all roof cleaners contain that ingredient (sodium hydroxide). You can accomplish the same thing with a percarbonate. Might take a little longer, but won't harm the shingle either....
  15. peanut oil on wood

I would suggest hourly for the spot removal. How large is the spot? You don't have to strip the whole deck, just the effected areas. Then turn them off to the idea of painting. Paint is far harder to remove than stains and sealers. Hope this helps. Beth
  16. heat from hose, burning grass?

What a wonderful idea! We use hot water on house washes. We've never had problems withthe hose getting that hot (variable thermostat) and I think Rod washes about the same temp as you use on dishes or laundry, or a hot shower. Beth
  17. CSIA Certification: The Hallmark of Success CSIA Certified Sweeps tm earn their credentials by becoming knowledgeable in the practice of sweeping and the observance of the codes and standards that pertain to chimney construction, maintenance and service. 18. The Chimney Safety Institute of America is a non-profit educational foundation that has established the only nationally recognized certification program for chimney sweeps in the United States. The program was developed in keeping with CSIA's commitment to chimney and venting system safety and to the elimination of residential chimney fires, carbon monoxide intrusion, and other chimney-related safety hazards. CSIA devotes its resources to educating the public, chimney service professionals and other fire prevention specialists, and the insurance industry about the prevention and correction of chimney venting system hazards. http://www.csia.org/ Lots to surf on this link.... 19. peanut oil on wood

Take HD-80 to the affected area and agitate witha deck brush. Do this for about 20 minutes. Rinse. Apply the citralic brightener. RInse, rinse, rinse. This should help greatly. HD-80 is a wonderful degreaser, and we use it on grease stains on wood, concrete, etc... all the time. Beth
  20. Extend-A-Wand Help

Rod love his. He says he has less back strain, and better control of the wand. The design is such that instead of the wand pulling down, it lifts up and you pull the wand down rather than fighting to lift it up. He says he has less fatigue with it. He also loves the locking mechanism. Beth & Rod
  21. Deck lead, contact me for details. Beth;)
