Teachers with guns? Lawmaker proposes - Crime & courts - MSNBC.com Are we nuts, teachers carrying hand guns to protect students. I hate to say it but what teacher will shoot the first student? Couldnt we just use security or police to protect students in these problems Schools? Have we lost our minds? What do you guys think about this one?

WOW, you missed the Sunday night live chat we had. We actually talked shop for about five hours solid. It was the best chat i ever had online, I'm certain those involved would agree. I know the past chats have been pretty weak. We will start topic chats this week and we will do application training for commercial and PM. To answer the question, maybe give the rest a thurst to be present rather than sitting at home in there office. You will see the MB table is going to way different from anything you have seen. I'm sure all the people doing round tables will keep just getting better and better.

Don, I would want to think that and educated person that wants to help children would never want to even think about shooting or even harming a child even if they felt a risk or danger. I also feel we as people need to make these problems better not by defense but education and learning about whats really going on with our society. Whats next, we all need to pack a 38 to pick milk and bread up and 7-11. I'm sorry, times are changing and maybe I'm just ready to change. Maybe the terriorist have won, we are going broke as people and it seems the Empire is possibly falling apart. ( maybe if more Americans realized this we could make some real efforts of change) I never dreamed in a million years we would be arming my third grade teacher Miss Z as was her name when i was in third grade. She had a pretty mean paddle, everyone in the room respected her, not because she had a paddle, she was compasionate but firm and she was fair. If you broke the rules you would be punished. If you didnt turn your homework in you would get detention. Its seemed like simpler times, I however do not advocate putting any adult incharge of my family with a firearm. We have better things to spend the money on, miss Z needs better books. The children in some Schools dont even have paper. What the H_LL are we using resources like this. I can see it now, bond for teachers issued weapons choice. Would you like to carry a 9 or a 38? Maybe we could just have you drive the Hummer with remote bomb cntrol and cannon on rear. We just have better things to spend money on, we give kids condoms and they still get prego. We say no to drugs and they still smoke pot. What makes us think that the kid or the drug dealer thats going to kill someone is going to care if Miss Z is packing. I see this happening,,,,, Miss Z pulled the gun first so I had to protect myself. I was in fear of my life!!!!!!!!!Miss Z dead and she didnt pull the weapon first, but every kid in that room knows he will have to go out that door and drive or ride home that day with this drug dealing kids gang members on the corner. ( so while we issue Miss Z a gun lets just make a weapon standard issue for every american child because is there constitutional right to bear arms. So you have it DON, how about we presure wash some Schools and clean them up so they dont look bad. How about we use the money for that?

I guess we really are off subject, comparing a clerk to a teachers or anyone else carry a gun to me is silly. educators have no business carrying a weapon. I coach proffessionally, I have been in some bad places playing a ball game. i have come back to hotel room robbed, cars broken into. I guess my point all this would not be worth shooting the kid that did that. I got new stuff, if it was my life i guess it was my time. I coach children and I guess i could get shot driving down the raod anyday of the week. I dont carry a gun, I have nothing agaist them but i would never imagine my image to children thats coach ron the packing cowboy coach. Can you imagine the next the argument with and umpire. Well maybe I could see that being and advantage.LOL I just think our children have should not be in places where we need weapon to teach them. We need to fix this another way. Its just my thoughts

Again, if a store is that bad you need a gun to work for 7 dollars and hour. Get another job and let them close or put you in bullet proof glass. I see if you carry large amount of money andyour a target. carry a weapon and protect yourself.

I carry, I dont take the gun into places with children. If i go to a place where kids are I leave the gun. I think we need to make the schools safer and let professionals carry guns. they are talking about having classes for teachers to pack guns. Lets have teachers educate themselves in awareness on regonizing problem with children and prevent dangers. I'm certainly not for gun control, I just dont believe children should be subject to the threat of teachers and mentors having firearms to solve problems. Second, i dont want teachers handling this job, i want them to teach. Third , I respect everyones views and do understand there may be cirmstances that carrying might be ok. My problem with this is as soon as one does it all want too.

I agree if you saying it not going to be cheaper, I have a similiar Story about Chili's. They did install a few as a trial, its costed 200 times what a service costs over a two year period. The system was almost 50 g's. the annual maint on the unit was 19. I the labor and chemical was not even included in the failure. I 'm not saying this wont work on a business, i dont think its going to be cheaper. And the store still failed and outside clean inspection by headquarters. I think thats what rocked them.

I left for a bit and the kids turned the pool Green, my younger son said three days ago it was black, dont feel bad. LOL, they made and attempt. Someone back washed manually and ran the water out of the pool.

Truly not a huge problem at all, we had about 35 guys on this morning. Alot of activity on my first day back. In the morning around 6 am we will do some live demos testing wireless cams.

I just cant see teachers packing guns, I dont think education is the place for weapons. If you want to carry a gun as and adult off work thats great. Guns dont belong in the work place either. People that need weapons to wait tables or work at a convience store is ridiculous. If I allowed my guys to carry guns witch I'm sure a couple probably do. I would have a problem if they shot someone. They often get into problems with homeless, drug dealers and all sorts of nuts on the street. Fourtuantly we have had no serious problems, we have been shot at, robed , chased, trucks and rig stolen. Here's the deal, the truck was replaced, no one was hurt. I couldnt imagine shooting a child reguardless if they have agun on them or not. Just wait till the kid brings a Toy gun to School and a teacher unloads 20 rounds in his chest and kills three people standing by the child with a toy gun. The sick thing is thats whats got to happen for us to realise its not a great idea after all.

I didnt mean to start a mess, well I didnt think things where that bad? I guess I'm sheltered here in Gilbert Arizona. Whats next? bus drivers , janitor, patrol person. I mean lets hire pros, police , private security anything but educators. I think having police present and a car out front helps. Scott Stone knows a School that has a police car out front because he and i drive by everyday. Mesa Jr. High, the School is in and area thats mostly hispanic. Most likely ilegal aliens children that are citizens. The School has a patrol car everyday in the same spot, I know because i Slow down passing the School when going by because I never know when he might be in the car. The cars been parked there for 10 years, I still slow down everytime I see it. I guess it works for me, I dont slow down when i ride by the private School about two blocks away.

I realize its expensive to bring rigs guys, it would be a great site to see as many rigs parked by the hotel as possible. So if you can bring the rigs, Jeffs providing 24 hour security and is footing the bill for the rooms and other events materials. This would be a great chance if you have something cool to show. I cant wait either Jeff, I heard you cancelled the event because to many people coming. LOL
