  1. Other PW & Wood forums?

Wow! I knew about Mr. ********** site, but had no idea there were that many out there. Of course TGS will always be my alma mater sp? Thx Beth.
  2. Egg covered siding

By the way, the panels on this house are 10 ft. Count them from the bottom to the top folks, that's approx 40 feet for all you xjet haters. Oh yeah.... from the ground. 2800 sq ft. 1 hr 40 minutes on this one, well add on the roll out roll up time. Not bad...... and again... no shadows. good luck Mike.
  3. Egg covered siding

Here's one I did last week at the lake Mike. The egg stains have been there since Halloween '06. Regular House wash didn't work so well until I did a half and half mix with 12% and a little extra prosource soap, longer dwell time obviously, and 1 re-apply. Stucco finish!!! Almost broke out a scoop of hydroxide, but better judgement warned me internally. Make it stronger and let it dwell. No shadows ILMXJ
  4. Most everyone on TGS knows that I have relocated my business to Texas. While I was in ATL I developed several sub contracting relationships with various contractors and it was very profitable for me in more ways than one. These contractors over the past 3 years have proven to be where most of my profits come from. Less advertising and steady work helps me stay small and profitable and managable. An obscure method most would think, but that was the plan all along. I want time for my family ( and helicopter). Steve's Painting needs a PW technician to fill my shoes as those who have tried since I left ATL, have failed miserably. I love my XJET and deckster. There is a reason I have been saying that all along. These tools of the trade are the single most important tools to have (IMHO) for Steves Painting as an account. He is a hassle free contractor if things are done the way they are discussed on this forum. I'm not talking "Blow and go " I'm talking "Done Right" according to most of the commandments of TGS!!! Steve's was responsible for over fourty sub jobs last summer alone for my firm. His firm is growing and lacks a PW Tech. that really knows resi's. (You know who you are if your cleaning 2.5's from the ground... nuff said) We had a process that worked. I knew PWing and he didn't!!! Simple as that. I cleaned the day before his crew comes in and then they paint the next day. Like I said, He's a painting firm and is not as knowledgable in the PW ind. as you are!!!!! He is also a member of this forum as well. SGRILLO is screen name. Resi's galore and much much deck work. He does the staining so all required on wood would be to strip and brighten or a deck wash. You work your own rates with him. It's a different year economically so adjust according as all understand my rates are not your rates. Give him a call or pm from TGS.770-231-9494. He always paid ontime and most cases same day along with steady work. I only post this because I know if someone from TGS contacts him they have some industry savvy. This account can have a very high LTV. Anyone who knows me from the ATL industry knows I studied hard and knew a contractor for just about everything and subbed my firm out to them. I hold my own pretty well!!! How I went down this particular avenue... I couldn't tell ya !!! It's just where the wave carried the board. But it is what it is..... As the great philosopher Doolittle once told me......So please don't make me look bad. This can be a good account with alot of $$ to be made. ILMXJ & Deckster I would really like to see one of you guys from Hellanta take this over and help Steve continue to grow. oh yeah... he gives bonus' and the tax documents are always on time. GOOD LUCK.
  5. Here's a deck project I completed a few days ago.
  6. Thx Scott, It's in Cypress. I was just kidding about the rest. Prepped it with bleach, a little hydroxide, secret soap sauce applied and lifted through xjet w/ low pressure applicator. Brightened with ox. Stained with Deckster As usual around here I had to slip in between thunder storms and hope for the best. I was actually prepared to cover the entire deck and benches with a plastic canopy if the weather did not cooperate. Believe me, I had a stack of stakes behind the scenes and 400 more ft of plastic if needed. ILMXJ
  7. Who's working

Fast and slow.... but always working. TV ad Newspaper ad Postcards SM Leads Good ol boy word of mouth it's all working.
  8. Thx Shane. It actually could have used more because of the freakishly high winds that day. The customer really liked the effort and concern though. ...... she cooked some mean Baker's G. A. channel cat though!!!
  9. Making the x-jet easier to use

With that type of setup you WILL be showing off and not even be trying, while cleaning chimney gunk and collecting faster!!!!
  10. Making the x-jet easier to use

...... staying with the backpack application though, spillage and exposure are the biggest concern. I just don't think it is that safe to carry chems on your back.
  11. Making the x-jet easier to use

I get 30 ft or better with just a trigger. I rarely use ladders for anything other than hard angles. With an extension you can reach even higher. My ladder gets very lonely.
  12. lmao In all seriousness, Ted Nugent only endorses M-80's and crank up telephones for canal fishing.
  13. Cold water machine problem

Could be the unloader. Did you leave the trigger alone long enough to actually engage the bypass? If it is the unloader then it is a relatively quick and inexpensive fix. See if it will actually dump into the tank after running for a minute or so without depressing the trigger.
  14. Saaaweeet !!!!! I bet you didn't even get your feet wet scooping the fish out from that one!!!!!
  15. I used Baker's from Shane / Wood Savers. I mixed a 2:1 Super cedar Gold and Super Cedar Dark. Decks on water get more uv and moisture. ...... so I was a little creative.....
  16. Thx Celeste, But it hardly compares to some of your work I have seen!!!!
  17. See you at the pub!!! I'll bring the darts!
  18. Hardly !!!!! lol. check the riding mower thread Jeff. This was actually restored by method of Shane with a little variation on the rinse and lift from my previous experiences.
  19. Oh Yeah........... ILMXJ & lithium hypochlorite...........
  20. A few more pics of completion. cleaned with zero degree tip and dual turbo nozzle at 4500 psi using muratic acid and lithium hypochlorite to strip. Applied stain with xjet wide open. I simply pushed all of the overspray into the lake. Hey... no one was looking. Rolled all the tarp up with bricks and sank them to he bottom of the lake as well. I kept all the fish that floated up and saved a bundle on lunch for me and my helper. Poured the left over stain out into the customers yard for fertilizer. Any comments? Just kidding guys , I did it all the eco and bio friendly way.
  21. do my best to look you up before the weekend.
  22. Volume discount naturally. You have to take care of your acct. Yes you absolutely need to use a housewash mix vs. just water and pressure. Water alone will not always afford the luxury of a quick and effective paint prep. You're at the right place for info on this site. You can learn practically every application of pw. and wood working.
  23. Goals - long term

Doug, Check the Help Wanted job leads for ATL I posted yesterday and talk with Steve. Commercial and resi's.
  24. Steve R., Mike W., Paul the deck guy, Aqua Bob, Titan, check it out.... inquire..... $$$$$$ Also, I am considering letting go of my customer list from ATL. Any interested parties contact me. 600 + projects in the past 3 yrs. one timers, threepeats, regular accts. ( most like Steve). Thoughts? Biz is bangin so it is getting harder for me to focus on ATL and Houston at the same time.
  25. Nice Nice work Roger!!! I have been attending the school of Shane as of late myself. Arbors Gazeeeeeebos and miles of fencework. It's been a great learning experience. He has alot of great methods. And the results are awesome.
