I hear you. I have landed lots of jobs doing that with backpack full of fliers. WHATEVER WORKS MAN. IT IS ALL GOOD. Get some business card holders and distribute them to the places that you spend money at and get some of that money back. It all works to some degree. You saw my ad.... FREE HOUSEWASH w/2 referrals!!! I'm hoping it knocks my socks off. Who knows until you do a bunch of everything. Try it all.

Still getting alot of calls that I am subbing in Ga. I should just sell my customer list. Thanks again. I love my deeeeeecksterrrrr

yea, same here, but I ran one of those free Craigs list ads in their service section. A SM rep from Colorado responded to email with copied heading and asked me to become a member. I like them fine, but they seem to be chasing their tail alot lately. I just wonder if they are hurting or something to get us to recruit other contractors. I don't have time to work for them.

after much wondering why it did not air yesterday as scheduled, I spoke with the rep and he said he was having a glitch with his system. Since I have already tendered the green reserve on this baby I felt I had to inquire. If all is right with their programming thingy it should actually air today, with an additional week for free due to the glitch. Always nice to get a little good out of a bad thing. I can hardly wait to see it "live", and again will post it as soon as possible. Wish me luck with the potential rev generated on this one. I am trying to target a specific demograph ( resi's & decks upper tier). Never have gone this route and I hope it works. Yes I have chewed all of my fingernails off at this point.

Great Idea!!! I have never done that..... but how hard can it be? Thx for the suggestion Mr. Stone

Hi John As soon as they post the commercial ( which should be this afternoon ) I guess I can simply shoot a recording of it on the TV with new digital camera that takes movie recordings as well. I guess I can convert to mpeg format and see if it will upload on this site. I am pumped up about this and hope the investment ( minor, but still....) pays off. ........ sorry m'am I am booked up all month, is it possible to schedule you for the 1st week of next month ( wishful thinking)... Hope your season is off to a great start. I see you guys are still hovering in the teens..... stay warm.

you got that right!!! I remember that post and remember the spark in my eye when I read it before I moved here. But as usual, there is alot of educating that the customer needs. Sometimes they simply need to be made aware of the fact that it CAN be removed. Some think they are just stuck with it. I was doing some flatwork in Katy last week, some of the prospects that stopped to see the surface cleaner in action acted like that it was greatest new invention of the 21st century. Awesome!!!!

Likewise Mr. tribble, it was alot of fun and sorry there isn't more of that type of info happening on a regular basis

When I was operating in ATL I ran for YP 2 years and generated about only 1 a month. Basically paid for itself and a few extras, but you can't rely on it as a main vehicle to generate $$$$. But as always, the longer the exposure the better if it is making $$$ and at the very least paying for itself because it keeps you biz name out there. But there are negatives, like your location and how large your service area is. Plus how many people are actually using it? Roll the dice and see.

Wouldn't have the attitude or skills that I have if it were for your help along the way Philip. Forever in your debt.

Let me know what you think. Too hard to navigate. just plain ugly. not bad for a rookie. Find the vids. Give it up. get a professional. whatever, I don't have time for this crap! abcpressurewashing.net

I just requested a bunch of point of sale materials from them too! I was going to push it as well this Summer. I was really interested in that and it seems to work well on the shutters. I have a demo shutter I was going to use as onsite demo with the p.o.s. materials they are sending ( or will they?). I like the stuff. Too bad, they gave the stuff such a push towards the end of last year. Thought it would take off.

International Carwash Association - March 26 - 28, 2007

A buddy of mine from Ft. Worth has been running 5 of them for several years now. Mainly self services, but I have never seen him happier. His equipment runs Cat and Gen. pumps in most of his units (stalls). He is always hoppin. It doesn't have to be a high class joint because most just simply want to wash their own car. He does alright!!! -
Boss boots at Northern or HD/ lowes are inexpensive and GREAT!!!! Longest lasting boot I have ever had ( so far). No slipping on the roofs and they have held up for miles of flatwork so far. About 30.00 bucks. I don't think they come in pink or blue though but for the lack of a fashion statement they hold up to the punishment.

Hi all, Well after the rigors of relocation to the Lone Star, I'm up and running again. Legal and legit. Postcards are out, lead generator is running again and I'm about to run a tv ad on local community cable. Not like Waynes world or anything like that. Simply called the video mall. It targets my local suburbia with video classifieds and business admercials. It will be a contract for 1/2 yr. and the rate is equivelant to the metro newspaper monthly rate ( which I will nonetheless utilize as well.) It is a slow month generally speaking for most. I'll be pushing alot less commercial downtown gunfest' like I had in ATL with a more targeted deck and resi / flatwork focus in my areas with upper tier clients and the golf course and lake crowd. I'll be in the C.O.C. in March and hopefully a member of the H.O.A. by then as well. It's good to see some old and new avatars on TGS. I felt like I was having withdrawal symptoms from not talking with "my buds". Missing some of the beauty Georgia had to offer, but it sure feels good to be back home!!!!! Now I just need some business!!!! I know the cycles though. Well, here's my question for the board........ Has anyone ever advertised on tv and did it pay for itself or did you profit, or was it a bust? Great to chat with you all again...... I LOVE MY XJET I LOVE MY DECKSTER

Hi Beth, Glad to be back, (not settled and unpacked). I figure, what the heck!!! might as well try it. Can't say if it works or not until then. But at my age it is alot better than hitting the bricks with five hundred fliers, like the "old days". The price is right!!!!! They garauntee that it will be seen for a minimum of 15 times a day. Hi Scott, cool to be back on board. Yea the move was bumpy, but we're no worse for the wear. I had xjets installed in my four barrell in the suburban, like Ken Fenner suggested and now I'm on the bid site before the customer hangs up. Seriously, for less than $500.00 = 6 months of exposure to my area= 15 times a day. It's a little more pricey if I run ads w/o contract. Maybe I will do one month at regular rate as a pilot program and then do the 6 month contract. compared to the cost of fuel to start the beast...lol -
I recieved a sample package today from a group called Flood. The product they sent me was called Restora. http://www.flood.com/flood/ I never asked for the kit. They are just doing some pricey soliciting I guess. The product claims to revitalize vinyl and shutters. They claim it will be a great add on to upsell onsight. I have had great success with carnuba ( for vinyl) through the xjet. Lots of shine. BUT..... here's what got me..... They offer a lifetime garauntee on the product and could very well be a great upsell. They only offer %'s of profits with out actually giving you a measurment to go by. Probably because of different areas economies. So I do not know what an application with a lifetime garauntee would cost on top of my resi and commercial washes. Anyone ever use this? Is it a good product worth the investment and the upsell? Most vinyl resi are not in upper tier areas 200K and below. So most already don't want to part with what $ they have. It's like pulling teeth. Am thinking about any business extention I can add when I move to the Lone Star next month. And this seems to be doable. ??????

Some of you have read of the adventures my little 4 cylinder have lead me into over the past few years. I get flipped off on a daily basis at the very least, because it is so slow. Great on Gas though. I have stepped up[ or steeped back to the past]. I scored this 454 suburban from the 77 in perfect shape with low miles and ALOT of power and speed if needed. Came with 14000 towing package. Garage kept and well maintained. Just thought I would share. Oh yeah, no computers either, so I can keep it up for the most part myself. It's like a battle ship going down the freeway. I haven't been flipped off all week long. That's a record for me.

No more 4 cylinders for me!!

The welder only charged 50.00. well worth it because I can also put extensions wands as well as the ladder.
