why can't you simply use the material that ate the hose and spotted the house to begin with? If it ate the hose then it should be able to remove it as well. just a thought.

plus we can get a job cleaning the White House. lol. Ross perot........... I don't know if you are old enough to remember Carter and the Americans in Iran hostages situation. ( no offense intended on your age I promise). But Carter didn't handle that one to well. Little does the public know that H. Ross perot had his own employees ( covert swat team) and his own money, and his own equipment, helicopters and arms to free the hostages who were held for almost 1 year ( not positive on the tenure). Carter was a little too patient to suit me in that one. Perot came through for the country. As a President though, I think Perot would have been a little out of his element. I know it was a general comment on your part & like I said earlier I try to stay away from the politics dept. because as long as I can remember, no one has ever agreed on anything and the debates are decades old. I'm a rocker, not a knocker. The statement just was a little close minded and kinda hit close to home. I do not understand all the political issues, but I have spoken and listened many times to my future in-laws, and only see good from them. Plus I really appreciate that they are very partial to self employment and small business. Was not taking any shots at you in any form, just felt I had to raise my antlers on that one and say HEY.... hang on a sec. as far as pulling the thread off of the forum, no way man, this is a great thread. You might have actually surpassed Shane's Bleeeeeech vs. per carb thread. No angst or anger at you at all bro. Your my hero and a great source of inspiration and positive business influence. I still think Hawking should be the next Pres. or dare I say Nader. Or maybe even Bill Nye the science guy. Or Cindy Crawford......sorry,jk. fight the good fight man. We all love what you impart on this forum. David Gilmour tonight on Leno show. PEACE THROUGH SONIC DISTORTION

Staying super busy except for yesterday with the rain. So busy, I forget to eat and passout. Not good. Been pushing it real hard since the surgery trying to forget the pain of it all. I am pretty sure that the courts are painted with asphalt paint and can take the 12% really well. Was just thinking that it is not that much surface area and would probably not take more than a minute to re- apply w/ x-jet if the first time was too weak. But , I bet there are a few on here that do courts. I am now curious if we are on the right track. I'll keep checking this thread to see if I can become more educated on the topic. Hey your website looks great! Hope you are staying busy as well.

SH is Sodium Hydroxide or Sodium Hypochlorite. Alot of people on this site kind of take it for granted that everyone knows what it means, depending on the type of cleaning they are talking about. Hydroxide is a stripper and Hypochlorite( chlorine bleach for the layman) is a cleaner ( and mold killer). Some may even say 12% Hang around for a while and you'll be spitting out slang like the rest of them.

Sounds like you already got the right idea. I might suggest that you go very light at first with the 12% and see where that gets you. If not you may be the first to invent the "white" tennis court. But then again, that might make it easier to see those neon green balls. Show some pics when your done. AC

Jeff, my brother in arms, my friend, my Grime scene buddy, my lendor of great ideas, my ever so positive poster that all love on this forum. I have been biting my lip until your last statement. My girlfriend's family have been politicians for over 30 years in Texas. For the decade that I have known them and seen them in action I can honestly say that not all are crooked. They are very honest people and work very hard FOR THE PEOPLE. Even though they are in Texas, they deal with Washington on a regular basis to help the people, that includes you and me ( even though you are not in Texas) alot of what they do affects all of us. Crooked......... not all. You are doing what you feel needs to be done by contacting your local and Natl. Gov't. Plus that is what they want us to do anyway. How else would they know what the people's concerns are. I am with ya bro, except that all are crooked....... It's just not true. I nominate Stephan Hawking as our next Pres. He'll get us out of this mess.

Don't let the customer claim it on your insurance as they may drop you next year or at the very least your rates will increase. Try the fix and if that doesn't work, buy a new door for them. They will appreciate your efforts at least, and that should divert the thought of a claim against your firm.

Definately kill the power if possible. I'm sure electricity is not partial to hot or cold, it will react the same with either. Less pressure is good as well, since they are so fragile. In some cases it may be the chems that set off the light not so much the H2O. So be careful with that as well.

Hi Rick, I agree with you on overplay of alot of material. But, I will never grow tired of Floyd or Gilmour. It just won't happen. I really like the White Stripes as well. Slow Hand, SRV ( from my homestate) are icons as well. I had a chance to walk in SRV's house on Riverside ave. in Austin several years ago after his death. His house was on the market for an ungodly amount. The only thing left in the house was an empty bottle of JD and a ripped pair of crushed velvet pants that the realtor insisted that they stay. Needless to say I did not buy the house, nor was I planning on it. I just had to see it for myself, but I was in the market for a house, just not that one. I agree that there are alot of great new bands out there. IMO though, they are somewhat hard to find as the commercialism in this town leads you to believe that there is only crap out there. Dream Theater, A Perfect Cicle, AFI, Tool ( hard core, but pros at what they do), Disturbed, H.I.M. are a good detour from the normal "classics" as they are relatively new bands for the most part. At least in the past decade. side bar: that pasty skinned girl from Charmed is married to Jack White. Lucky dog. She's half naked all the time. side bar #2: Dark side of the moon has the record for Billboards longest charting albulmn. Somewhere around 1100 weeks in the top 100 and still there. Hey thanks for the response and don't forget to watch Leno on Thurs. night. See what happens on a rainy day, I wind up on TGS for most of the day. Steeeeeeeeeve R. call me bro!

Ok all, I hope you don't think I am beating a dead Horse. The Gilmour US tour has been completely sold out as well as in Canada. There are only 2 shows left. Tonight and tomorrow night in LAX. Then they go back to the UK for the rest of the tour. But, as an avid fan of one of the greatest guitarist to ever hit this corner of the universe, I thought that I would share a parcel of info. Gilmour and company will be performing on the Jay Leno show tomorrow night April 20..... that's 420 to all you encoded types...420.... ironic to say the least. The show is recorded earlier in the day and there are still FREE tickets available to the Leno show ( just a tip for you west coast guys. You are allowed 4 tickets for you and 3 of your best 420's. Please please take advantage of what I have been ranting about all this time. This may be the last dance for this fella in the states, plus he ain't getting any younger. I have the new cd and have just about burned lazer holes in it by playing it so much. It grows on you like any Floyd cd would. Next thing you know , you can't get it out of your head. So, with my rantings behind me, this should be at least a little treat for those of Us ( and Them) that were not fortunate enough to see the tour. Expect a mellowing of sorts from the material ( I'm sure due to the age of this cat), but , greatness in action at it's best nonetheless. If anyone actually does read this and watches the Leno show ( april 20... that's 420) please comment on his performance. Most all of the reviews of the concert are nothing less than perfect. Just wanted to share, because many have responded to this thread and show interest in this icon guitarist and singer. PEACE THROUGH SONIC DISTORTION

I am a layman when it comes to all the politics this thread has turned into, but, I will say that I agree with the two questions that Mr. Williamson posted above my post. How can the rise in fuel be because of who we voted for. How can one man be so powerful and have so much control as to raise the price of fuel around the world? Impossible!!!!!! I voted for bush and am very glad I did. Let me say this again... I voted for Bush and am very glad I did. Call it what you want (lessor of two evils... whatever) I also have to agree with Mr. Williamson that we simply need to raise our rates to stay in the click of economical rises. We really don't have any choice if we want to be here next year doing the same business we are in now. I have no problem raising my rates. In fact I have already done it once this year, and will do it again if needed. If a customer doesn't want to pay my rates, then they are free to choose Mr. Lowball Pw no soap guy for the 99.00 special. It will be the only time they use him because he will be out of business this time next year unless he adjusts his rates for the climbing economy. This gas thing is WAY too big for any one of us to tackle or really do anything about except adjust to the economy and move along with the changing times. It's here to stay, get used to it. I am old enough to remember movies costing less than a dollar to go see a feature, and maybe another 1.50 for junk food to go with the movie. Anyone been to a movie lately. 8.00 - 10.00 a head and that's without the junk food. I am not saying that I won't pay 10.00 bucks to go see Cindy Crawford ( even though she is not the best actress) or Uma Thurman, Or Famke Jennson, I just have to limit how many movies I see in order to make ends meet. The same with the gas issue, I will do as many bids as possible over the phone to save on gas and money. Not that I don't do bidding the old fashioned way by actually going to the jobsite ( sometimes there is no other way around it). I personally am doing ALOT of adjusting because of this fuel issue. But, that is all I can do, adjust. My vote counted enough to help get Bush elected. again, very proud of that. But, even the layman that I am, I can at least figure out that it is not one man's ( Bush) doing. Cmon.

Unless you want to use a ladder. An x-jet is a great way to reach heights of 30 ft or better. The original or m5 both have their fans but for me the original gets an extra 5 or so ft out of the deal. I prefer not to use ladders unless really needed. It's a great investment and time saver. Get a two wheeler for your chem bucket and take off.

There is a magnetic roll of tape , just like scotch tape that you can get for 3.00 and pull pc off to stick to the back of cards. I did it and it works great on mailboxes, gas pumps, bank machines, and people with plates in their heads.

My new brochure and flyer - take a look!
Adrian replied to Hydroservices's topic in Documents, Forms & Proofs
Nice flyer....... but.... typo on the word "competitive" ... you have competitice on the "one stop bldg. maint. company" on 2nd pg. It looks very nice and catchy. It should land you alot of business. I really like that you offer discounts to seniors as well. -
Pro-Restore Decks
Adrian replied to Mike Stahmer's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Nice work Mike. That's a good match to the house as well. I have seen alot of places like that in Laguna. They are just stacked one on top of the other with lap pools and hot tubs sauna's and rich people. Kinda stinks with all the mudslides though. But your job looks Great! Hats off Hands down. West coast Guru!!! -
In my experiences HD 80 is best for deck stripping and the like. For the price of the product itself, it would not help your profit margin in the least when it comes to house washes. My concern on houses with HD 80 is that it can be mixed so strong that it could damage the surface of vinyl and completely take the finish off.

1. Speed is money, so the faster the better = xjet speeds up process a million time faster ( maybe not a million, but ALOT) 2. Mostly 2 story houses, some with dormers, so 30' will be a need. 30' from the ground w/ x-jet (or M5) = piece of cake + no ladder + speed = $ 3. Would like to avoid the telescoping pole = no need with x-jet & 3 ft wand & maybe a 10 footer. Save the telescoping pole for balancing on the high wire at the circus. 4. Not to concerned with lugging a bucket around. I rather have a short hose with jug by my side I can just carry with me. YOU WILL GET TIRED FAST CARRYING BUCKET...PLUS THE SPILLS ARE INEVITABLE= DEAD GRASS IN CUSTOMERS YARD.... TRUST ME INVEST IN A 15 GAL. CYLINDER DRUM ( just a suggestion) x-jet ( or M-5) come with 15' hose w/ cut off valve and proportioners THEN... take 25.00 more $$$ and get a 2- wheeler dolly + 5.00 in bungee cords to tie your bucket, drum, pale, dixie cup... whatever you draw from to the two wheeler & SAVE YOUR BACK!!!!! 5. Mostly vinly and painted homes. The mix I suggested earlier will work fine on both finishes you mentioned. BUT>>>>>> do small sections of PAINTED house with a shorter dwell time to see how it reacts. Don't want to learn how to paint after a house wash gone bad!!!!!! In some geographical areas the SH12% is very expensive. So you will want to work with your mix until you get the best and most economical use out of it. I think where I am and further south it is probably the cheapest prices in the north american continent. Do the research on pricing and work with the mix that I shared w/ you, see how it works for you, then see if you want to go the route of premixed brands that can very well be much more expensive to those just starting to get the feel of the business. Just sharing a little of what I have learned to be true from this very site with those very ???'s and concerns. The people here will make a pro out of you in no time at all. Good Luck AC

X- JET for sure = higher concentrations and easier reach IMO. Let dwell until you see the desired effect that you are looking for. Plus sometimes all you will need for mix is some SH 12% and some cascade. Depending on size of your bucket , drum, holding tank, whatever, the mix can be 1:2 SH to H2O then add 4oz. per gal. of cascade or whatever dish and glass soap for windows and rinse clean after .... say 10-15 min. dwell time. That should do the trick. An x-jet for rinsing as well vs. 25-40 degree tip on a regular 3 ft wand (in most cases) will rinse a larger area than the tips you are using. I love my x-jet. I pretty much only use the ladder to remove birds nest' or stuck kitties. Good luck

I still say you are too young to retire, Steve. But plenty of time to bow hunt as well.

Protecting new grass seedlings
Adrian replied to Able Hands's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Carlos, I agree with you , except on one point. Fresh fertilizer on grass after a deck wash can be damaging to the grass as the dilution from the bleach mix will still be present to some degree. The mixing of the fert and wash chems caused me alot of trouble last year. Esp. if you don't know what kind of fertilzer or what it will react to. If I could simply suggest that he have his customer just rinse the area affected by the falloff daily for a week or so to completely eliminate the wash chems, and then add the fert. He should have no ill effects. I actually mentioned this to my customer today and explained in a fashion that made him agree to the "potential" of damage. Although heavy rinsing (the more, the better) is always the safest bet in my book. But I do not want to be onsite the day of the fert treatment. ... And Rich ( great to meet you at Sunbrite , by the way) you are right about burning the plants with plastic tarps or covers. Best to just rinse constantly and avoid the tarps if possible. Somehow I hear the echos of Beth's voice when I first found out about TGS. Rinse rinse rinse rinse rinse.
