.... by the way Lance. I know what you mean about being asked to log on again. I had to regurgitate what I could remember of the above post as well. I wonder if Beth and Rod could change the setting of the idle time on the forum to a little longer for a slower typer such as myself.

I haven't had any problems with service magic as of yet. you just need to stay on top of all of your options. Once you have 1 customer review and rating then they put you on a preferred contractor listing which pops up first in a search of your area. the customer either sees your website or the service magic profile. Then the info about customer is routed straight to them. they can even answer the phone in your company name. I am also routing leads to another company that will do maid service and they pay me for the lead and a percentage of closing. I am not overflowing with business due to winter. But you set your own target spenmding match at 1000.00 per month and the leads start coming in.

I picked up a tip on this site that has worked very well for this problem. I have put some cascade dishwashing soap in with my mix. I is designed to make glass, spot free. It has worked great so far...... not perfect..... but I can see the difference.

It it safe to say in an ad I am writing to state that.... Pressure washing also improves the value of your home. I feel that PWing a resi does improve the value due to curb appeal. Also.... Pressure washing your home can potetially reduce health risk' caused by mold and algae builup. Are these safe and true statements for a brouchure or ad.

wow... thanks Rod, that helps alot. I am grateful for all the input on this one. These are great angles of approach. I have alot of ammo to go on to finish this ad. I am trying to make it a blanket type wording that will work in a brochoure or flier or poster. These are great ideas. Thx.

I have even considered saying things like "why paint when you may only need to clean it". Kind of leary of stepping on any painting contractors toes. Actually a good chunk of my work comes from painters referrals. But, I do like the line, "saves money on unneeded services". That really covers a wide spectrum. Thanks. If you guys keep replying like this , you will have written the ad for me,lol. Thx again

Preservation...... excellent verbage. Just what I am looking for. Careful useage of the words positioned in the right vehicle..... Hey, it's Winter and kind of slow, so I am trying to get a head start on the upcoming season. I need to use the right approach to make the customer know that they REALLY need this service. Thanks for input Mr. Mike

improves safety conditions...... I like that alot. I have told customers before that when they walk on a moldy drive that they potentielly bring some of the mold into their homes. That's why I was touching on the health issues. No body likes the stuff "inside" the home. Thanks Ryan, great advice as usual. and Happy New Year as well.

I was in Ms. just last month and I could not believe how much reconstruction is needed. I have been saying this for a few months now, that it will be a while before that area is ready for any PW work. I think there will still be opportunities for PW's to get in there even towards the end of next season. There is just sooooo much that needs to be done before they even think about "curb appeal". Hope everyone has a great New Year, and thanks alot to everyone for their help along the way.

I blew out 100 feet of hoses this week on seperate jobs. I have replaced them but I would like to know if it is possible to have my blown hoses repaired. My original hoses have lasted 2 years now and this is the first time I have experienced blown hoses. Any help for me out there? :taz:
-
Hey Phillip, Yea I may have to trash the hoses after all. Both blown in the middle. But I may try to still have them repaired. Maybe just for back up. You know what these hoses have been through this Summer, lol. I got your msg on tues, but the kidneys came to call again and the bed has been best friend lately. Looking for hydraulics repair place here in scarietta. Thx for everyone's help and advice.

I forgot to mention that they were the High Pressure hoses not the supply hoses. I've blown a million of those.

Get some "Boss" brand boots from Northern Tool. Cleated heels (long time to wear out), knee high, plus they come with an insert. Get some Dr. Schols inserts. They have rubber inserts or gel filled inserts. Just cut them to size, and for around 25.00 you are all set. Hope the job continues to go well.

Equipment bought on ebay - opinions
Adrian replied to back2new's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Heck yea, why not. Best 150.00 you'll spend all day! mount that thing in the back of the van, set up shop on Westheimer and clean some auto's and trucks at all the car lots. Hit some of the clubs for their curbs sidewalks and entryways. That should be a good little machine for that. Or at least you will have a back up unit in case the hot water unit leaves ya hangin'. I think it's a good purchase. accessorize and take off running. Good luck with your business. Houston is a big town and there is plenty of dirt there as well. -
I have been using Caterpillar rain gear (Northern Tool sells them) and I have been using their "BOSS" rubber boots. The rain gear is really really thick and has safety reflection strips on them. The pants are pretty inexpensive and tough but the jacket is around 60.00. The boots are great because they are not like your common cement type boot. They have raised cleated heels and and insoles so you don't walk out of them in two months. They work great on roofs with plenty of traction. The only drawback to this type of boot is that the dog bombs in the back yards of resi's get really clumped up inside the cleats. So I always make sure that they are clean off before they go back in the truck.

I have passed my totals from last year and shown a very very very very modest profit. But the point is that I did better this year than last and know more how to better next year than this year. It's good to be in the black. Now if I can only refrain from losing my profits to that beautiful Gibson Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty" with Bigsby baddass tremolo sytem. Sorry ...slipped off into dreamland. Yes , I did better this year than last!!!!!

my accountant was able to write off 2000 sf last year for me. I have office space and a "warehouse" section of basement. There are limitations about Residential office space. No advertising, gvw 24000 lbs. not to exceed for vehicle, storage of chems in limited quantities only. 1 vehicle only. But, yes , it can be written off as an expense. Plus the value (over a period of time) of all your office furniture and devices, like faxes copy machines, and pc's.

I just got back from a trip to Mississippi this past week and the sites from the hurricane were unbelievable. Some of those areas were completely lifted off the foundations. It will be a while before they completely recover. I actually saw packs of dogs in survival mode on some road kill. Some businesses were open and running their store with an entire wall missing or chunks of roofs ripped off. It sure puts a different light on things. All the history that can be wiped away in moments. Well, glad you made it through ok.
