As it was explained to me..do NOT use detergent oil in a pump because of the foaming action.

I believe the hose is short intentionally so that it does not suck up all the crud on the bottom of the tank.

On occasion I have a gun leak. I do not rebuild, just put a new gun on. Keep a few spares around just for that purpose. I think they are very reliable as long as your not pumping acids through them. When ever I use to use acid they were leaking in a matter of days. Never took one apart to see where the problem was. Doug

I was not clear in what I posted. I was not comparing the engine to car engine. I was referring to the pump running at some % less than max. Doug

Two things come to my mind right a way. 1 if you have 115 sytem you need a few HP to drive the generator. So I assume the mfg will not use all of the pumps capabilities and have the HP necessary do drive both pump and gen. 2 if 5.5,3500 needs 17.5 HP to run at max, would you want it running at max all the time? Why not run it at 80 or 90 % and get better life out of it. Doug BTW, the general 2006 catalog rates the TS2021 pump: 5.6gpm, 3500psi @1450rpm

I could not find the earlier thread about quick couplers coming apart, and I had mentioned using JIC connectors. Someone asked for an elaboration on JIC's so I am posting that info here. I do not know what the JIC stands for, and they are also called somthing else that I cannot currently remember. Anyway, they are a threaded connector that are a finer thread than pipe. The ends are shaped at a 45 (or there a bouts) before the threads start, so the male fits into the female (sound familar?). The nice thing about them is that they are hand tightened and then about a half turn with a wrench and they are tight. No tape is needed. And no swivel connectors are needed. Not nearly as bulky as QC's on they hose reel. You would have to get adapters for your machine, hose reel, etc. that changes the pipe thread to JIC. The 3/8 male pipe the 3/8 JIC male adapter runs about $5.00 as an example. I have used them for the past 5/6 years, I got tired of replacing the QC between sections of hose. Also, the hydraulic shop where I get my hose made will repair a broken hose unlike the P/W shops around here. Hope this helps, Doug

One would not have to get the 72 inch, the smaller ones might be a good option. And thus not have to worry about all that sonic boom and noise. BTW, Alan I talked to Bob at pressure tek, he custom builds surface cleaners, you may want to give him a call if you don't have the time. Doug

The only time I have had a qc come apart is when it was not seated correctly. As a suggestion, instead of quick couples between hose sections have your hoses made with JIC fittings. Much easier to roll up, don't have to worry about the qc not coming undone when you want them to. The only QC I use now are end of hose to wand/surface cleaner. Doug

John, Thanks for the info. That add ran in E-spec a few years back. I called them and they said those units are no longer available. "Were made in Germany and they had no contact info" Do you have any contact info? I ran a search for "Intimidators" and got a NASCAR site. Doug

Mas3372, It will work that way but, if you put a 3 way ball valve so that you can select either tank or pump inlet then in the winter time when you run anti-freeze through the machine you are not dumping anti-freeze into the water tank. Make sense? Doug

I'm also going the the Pumper Show in Nashville on 2/16 and going to look at some of the equipment there. What kind of work did you do with the 8000PSI machine? Doug
