Converting 2 4gpm units to one 8gpm unit
Doug T replied to ryanwiles's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I believe both unloaders must be of the trapping type then you just "T" the two togather. Delco has a hose assembly that does this, they call it a "booster". Talk to Larry he will help you -
Tom, If you are going to do a high flow machine with surface cleaner and vacuum equipment you might want to consider and open trailer. Keep the height down so it can be used in parking garages.

Double Gulp type chemical injectors. Anyone tried these?

I have heard that the design life for air cooled engines is 2000 hours with normal maintenance. I currently have a vanguard with almost 3000 hours and have had 2 others with 3000 before I got rid of them. Value depends somewhat on condition of unit and pump. assuming with that engine there is a 5gpm, 3000psi pump of a good name brand, maybe I'd pay $1500. Doug

Large Hot Washers
Doug T replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Just heard from a dealer that Alkota has 10 @3000 skid on the market now. It's big 72l x 48w x70h, 2200lbs. Only has a 125 temp rise so that might now be to good for some applications. -
Can you get your Burner to Burn Hotter?
Doug T replied to 4running's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Kyle, First thing to do is to get a temp gauge, install it at the trigger gun and see what temp you are actual getting. Doug -

Carlos, I seem to remember those units as well, if I remember correctly they were from John Allison (sp?), same guy who has E-spec I think. -
Ideal Flatwork Set Up
Doug T replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Alan, I would think that if noise is a problem you would be quiter with one big engine and then run everything off that, ala Dave Olsens set up. And for me a truck is a lot easier than the trailer, unless you are into parking garages and need to be concerned about the height. -

Landa makes a hot water skid(s) 9.9 @ 2000 or 9.5 @ 2500 -
Kyle, I was about to call and see how things were going.. glad you got it runnning. Doug

Jay, Would the same method work on asphalt also? Doug

Kyle, Not to disagree with Russ and I have no experience with Hotsy or vertical burners but...on the horizontal burners that I have what you are describing sounds like partial plugged fuel burner filter or fuel nozzle. Even though you cleaned the exterior of the fuel nozzle the interior can still be plugged. At any rate, white smoke = to little fuel or to much air, black smoke= to much fuel or to little air. I would not start by adjusting air bands unless you know that some how they have changed postion. There should be a copper tubing from the fuel solenoid to the fuel nozzle. If you take it off at the nozzle end, then hold a container at the end to catch the fuel. Run the system while trying to run the burner. Observe the fuel flowing into your container. It should be a continuous steady stream. If it is not then change the fuel burner filter. If the stream is good, disconnect the fuel nozzle gun from the burner assembly, reconnect the copper line to the fuel gun external of the burner asssembly. Using a 5 gallon bucket to catch the spraying fuel, try running the system again watching the fuel from the gun spray into the bucket. That should tell you if the nozzle is plugged, Doug

Jeff, "2 step" refers to a process of applying 2 different Ph levels of chemicals and then rinsing. Most common is to apply an acid and then an alkaline and then rinse. The acid and alkaline react on the surface to give a "better" cleaning action. Doug

John, I think your math is off. I'd figure it like this, 8gpm + 5.6 gpm= 13.6gpm being used. Bib is putting in 5gpm, net lose of 8.6gpm. Tank holds 200 gal divided by 8.6 = run time of 23 minutes. If bid is putting in 8gpm then the net lose is 5.6gpm. 200 divided by 5.6 = 35+minutes run time. Any increase in bib flow will give an increase in run time, not a decrease. But I have been wrong before, and will be in the future Jeff, if the trailer and tow vechicle can handle it, I'd get a 500 gallon tank.

Jeff, I use a plastic ball valve instead of a gun when applying acids. Guns usually lasted 1 day when applying hydrocloric acid, even the "acid" guns do not last. Remember to rinse, the wand is still metal.

If it does it again, try taking the fuel cap off put it back on and see if it then runs. If it does the vent hole in the cap is plugged. As you use up fuel no air is getting in, creating a vacuum, and the fuel pump cannot overcome it. happened to me once

Without knowing what kind of rig you are running...sounds to me like your vent hole is plugged.
