  1. any idea what is necessary to run a Honda GX-390 from a remote fuel tank? I want pw's and generator to run off of the same tank. I am unsure of what type of fuel pump I need, inlet pressures, etc. My trailer has 12v wiring. should I leave the tank bolted on or take it off? Thanks.

  3. Employees or Subs??

Well said cleanhoods. no matter how much you pay someone, they will never have the same passion for your company as you do.
  4. Employees or Subs??

Saves a lot of $ in workers comp. premiums to have subs, but comes with a lot of headache. TN is rapidly changing the laws to where its harder and harder to sub contract work. No matter how you have a person set up, they are deemed "sub" or "employee" by the state by a series of questions: Do you provide tools or equipment for their daily operations? Do you control where they work on a day to day basis? Do you direct their daily job duties? etc. The goal here is to force the employer to pay the employees taxes so that they get paid and get paid on time. Its almost always more cost effective to subcontract dangerous jobs, as the w.c. percentages for pressure washing multi story buildings can be 30-50%. In some cases even more. Also it is now mandatory to pay the employees FICA and withholdings, unless they are a true subcontractor. This adds to the burden as it is much easier to issue a 1099 to each person at the end of the year. I have found some benefits of using subs, it nice to have their insurance policy in place to take the blow if something goes wrong. Also, It can actually be a money maker. I have used other pw companies as subs for big jobs, and they have done the same to me.
  5. Would be nice to have a pw that sounded like a Camry though!
  6. Very possible, could make engine run rough from excess backpressure. I know Honda has many muffler configurations for their engines, most of which will bolt right up to any Honda twin. Briggs and Kohler probably make several styles of mufflers as well.

  8. Would you use this?

We clean a Greyhound terminal monthly. In the spots where the busses sit and idle for hours, there are 4' diameter circles of black soot on the concrete we apply EBC and let dwell for 10 min or so, then brush the spots with a stiff bristle scrub brush on a broom handle. I have done side by side comparisons, the brushing helps quite a bit. Might be able to get it a little cleaner with gas powered broom, definitely save time.
  9. what about using a small cable that loops around hose before the QC fittings and the 2 cables lock together, that way if QC'S did blow, a cable would keep them from knocking teeth out. Might get burned by hot water, but no lacerations. Any one ever seen anything like this?
  10. Remote fuel tank

The fuel return line is what makes it all possible. If you run a fuel line from an electric pump straight to a gx390, fuel will push past the needle in the carb and flood it out. Having the return line keeps the fuel pressure at the carb at a very low level. Not sure if this is true for every motor, but it works on a 390 and a 11 hp Generac.
  11. Remote fuel tank

To answer my own question, all you have to do is install the fuel pump, tee off of the main fuel line to each engine, and run the main fuel line back to your fuel tank. This way there is no buildup of pressure between the time you energize the fuel pump and the time you start your pw. The engines draw only what fuel they need from a constantly flowing source. I run a gx-630 that has its own fuel pump on this rig, I wondered if having 2 fuel pumps would be a problem but she runs fine too. Hope this helps someone!
  12. engine or burner exhaust? I am gathering parts to link 3 engines to 1 exhaust system, and run it thru the floor of my open trailer. Its too easy to get burned with mufflers everywhere. I will probably use a car muffler at the end of the line. Im using 1" gas pipe with weld fittings. They have 45 90 180, long sweeps-endless possibilities for fittings. Thinking about wrapping all the pipe with header wrap.
  13. One of my customers asked me if I could get a rust streak off of his chimney. The whole house is painted brick. Will oxalic acid hurt the paint? The rust streak is from a steel chimney cap and is about 4' long. The homeowner pointed out a place on the I can test some chems, what other than oxalic should I try?
