One day I'd love to see a PWNA Convention and CETA Convention back to back or even together in the same hotel..... Hmmmm
One of the best Conventions I ever attended was the Dallas PWNA/IWCA convention in 04 that had over 700 people attend including Beth/Rod from here. In size that one was awesome.
I did hear the PWNA Convention this year was very well received as was the PWRA convention. I personally love a large audience and want to see the PWNA and PWRA hit those magical numbers(1000's) but still are as rock solid as some of the smaller attended Conventions I've been to in the past.
2014 is going to be an exciting time for this Industry and I'm looking forward to it:)

Ideally, people will just give back out of the goodness of their hearts. And if the press picks it up, all the better. But, I guess even if you're only doing the good thing for the free publicity, at least something good is being done for someone else -- which is better than nothing being done at all.

The full convention website and info will be posted here on TGS as soon as it is up but you have the confirmed date and location for next year. Watch the Convention forum for full details.
The 2013 Pressure Washing Convention was the largest, most exciting pressure washing event in recent years and 2014 is going to blow it away. We are doubling the size of the trade show and moving the keynotes into the fabulous Delta ballroom.
The Gaylord Opryland is an incredible resort and this is an awesome opportunity to combine a tax deductible family vacation with the biggest pressure washing event of the year.

I don't hunt. The best inside speckled trout fishing is during deer season but I told my dad I would hunt with him this year. He's saying this might be his last year so that puts it in a different perspective.

I would like to thank each and every one of the contractors and vendors who made the 2013 Pressure Washing Convention such a rousing success.

When I started planning this convention I had no idea if anyone would come or not, especially with only four months of lead time.  It could have very well been Chris and I splitting a whole lot of hotel rooms and meeting space between the two of us!  But thanks to early support from both contractors and vendors the event hit the ground running.

Even still, I was unsure of how well it would be attended.  I fervently hoped to break 100 attendees.  That seems to be the benchmark of a "successful large event" these past few years.  I reluctantly dared to be hopeful as the numbers grew and milestones were passed.

    100, 125, 150, 200...
    200!?

Over 200 contractors and a full trade show floor!!?

Yes, there were some hiccups.  When you more than double the expected attendance of an event even small problems are magnified, especially at a first event like this one.  Some last minute schedule changed were not communicated effectively.  The wonderful thing is the everyone went right along with the hurdles and changes and extended not only their appreciation but their pledge of continued attendance.  I am awed and humbled by the ongoing outpouring of support and encouragement.

Who says that people in the pressure washing industry can't come together?

This event was a milestone is several ways:
Yes, it was the first convention for the Pressure Washing Resource Association.   Yes, it was more than double the size of any verifiable event in the recent past. Yes, the amount of education presented in the almost 30 presentations was unprecedented. But what made it truly special was the spirit of camaraderie, brotherhood, and esprit de corps that was present.  The feeling and the excitement was truly inspirational and I can't wait to see you all again next year!

It should not have happened to begin with. Two BOD's told you NOT to post it and you did. Really? Why? What could you possibly hope to gain? What do you think should happen to you as a result of these actions? Do you realize the damage you have done to PWNA? The other day you and I spoke on the phone and you sounded so passionate, so determined to remove yourself from negativity and bashing. You wanted to take the high road and really help the PWNA. What happened to that? Years back there was another ED that did something very similar. The damage done by one particular incident was horrible. It has taken the PWNA YEARS to recover from it, and in one post you have dragged the PWNA back down into the mud. Do you know why? Because of perception. The PERCEPTION is that since you are the ED, you are a voice for PWNA, you have the blessing of the PWNA BOD,a nd lots of folks will not believe you acted on your own, because that's the way it is. People are dramatic. They speculate. You made a horrible decision and now PWNA will undoubtedly suffer for it. That's a shame. I am really glad I am not on the PWNA BOD right now but I can tell you that if I were, the discussions going on would be long and very thoughtful. They would not be easy ones to hold. As a former BOD and as a current member, I sincerely hope that the current PWNA BOD will think long and hard before taking this lightly and brushing it off. You actually traveled to Arizona and looked for him not just once....you STALKED him. If you were to ever do that to me, I would call the police.
This is sad, and disgraceful. But the PWNA as an association is not to blame. YOU as an individual are, and if you really respect the PWNA then you need to make a tough decision of your own.

Thad reacted to Windowcleaningresource.co in Feedback about a large bid
Our core business is Window Cleaning and if I could give you a few tips:
    1) On a large project like this don't charge by the window. Figure out how long it will take you to do the job and base it off what your time is worth.
    2) For 3 time a year service WE would probably offer up approx 20% discount off of the 1 time clean rate.
    3) Get a signed contract. It is very common in window cleaning for a customer to think they need it 3 or 4 times a year and then decide after the second service that they wont be needing it again this year.
Do you have access to a Water fed pole? This would be great for a job like this. You would clean it nose to glass the first time around then breeze through the next time with your WFP.

No it's not. It was an inside joke. Circa winter 2008... Jim left a glove here at the house, he was passing through after a GA round table we all went to, and I need to mail it back.

sounds like you're on the right track with your research.
Composite will need to be cleaned with a light diluted bleach solution if there is mildew on the surface
EFC38 would be a good cleaner for your rails. Order from Deck Stains Cleaners Sealers Staining Decks Wood Decking Sealing Concrete Paver Restoration. RAD will be fine too. I would stay away from ordering straight precarbonate or stuff from the chemistry store since they will be void of the surfactants and other stuff that is in cleaners designed for wood.
Pressure washing isnt required.. but will make the job easier. Low pressure is key. Hold the gun a minimum 12 inches from the wood with a wider fan tip. If thats not available, a hose and brush will work. Let the cleaner soak for a good 10 minutes though before rinsing. You'll definitely want to use a sprayer for the cleaners. Just get a simple plastic pump up sprayer. Make sure the cleaners are mixed well so you don't have granules on the bottom that will clog the tip. If you spray at an angle and not straight onto the spindles youll get two sides at one and it will help prevent cleaner from spraying right into the back of the house. Have a hose handy and just wet the siding and plants down before and after you apply the cleaner.
If you are using EFC for the cleaner, go with the citralic for brightener. RAD system will come with both so you'll use the container they give you. If using woodtux you will want to rinse the brightener off after letting it sit for a few minutes. I believe ready seal is fine if you leave the brightener on the wood, but don't quote me on that.
Both stains will be fine for your wood. Woodtux may be a bit more difficult to apply, but if you are brushing the spindles you can control your application to prevent too much stain from building up. Brushing will be your safest bet for any stain. Or a pad applicator. If you aren't comfortable with spraying you wont want to risk getting it on everything. With brushing youll be able to see how much you are putting on the wood and brush everything over to make it even. With woodtux just keep a rag handy to go back every 20 minutes and check to make sure you dont have any shiny spots. If you do just wipe it off and go back to staining where you left off
Be careful when staining around the composite. It will be tough to get off the composite if you drip stain. Use plenty of sheets and drop clothes to cover it.
