Washing Trex (black spots)
Dan Stapleton replied to Jarrod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Did that $400 include the underside of the deck too? How long did the job take you? Believe me, I'm one for getting top dollar for our work but if you tried to get $400 to clean a 600sq.ft deck here in central fl. people would laugh or try to have you arrested. I hope some floridians will back this up, I'm gonna need some ammo against some northern wood guys........coughfennercoughcough. -
At least you don't have a high concentration comin at ya anymore

I left him a voice mail, maybe when the need arises I'll try again. Thanks

Good deal. Seriously, I wish I lived a few miles from the chemistry store. What a bonus to save on shipping and to have nearby.

Dan Stapleton replied to TalcottPressureWashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
If you do a search on the above mentioned questions you'll find the answers. But to answer a few: Don't buy a waterbroom. It won't clean concrete. Get at least 4gpm. Really search this board for answers to cleaning up high. I'm not being rude just letting you know that commercial work will not "come your way". Learn as much as you can from these boards, put it to use on each job and your confidence and skills will grow. Good luck -
I'm jealous. Did you ever get your x-jet containers hooked up?

help me with gutters please
Dan Stapleton replied to mas3372's question in Residential Pressure Washing
To add to my post above: Mighty max plus is 280 for 55 gallons. Like Mike said is 10% butyl. It also has <1% Sodium hydroxide like G.S. A discount if you are used to paying for gutter shock. I would be SHOCKED if they were'nt pretty much the same. -
help me with gutters please
Dan Stapleton replied to mas3372's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I use the regular mighty max which is 6%. The thing that sucks is they use to be very reasonable but have gone up in price by as much as 40%. It is hard for me to keep buying from them when 55 gallons went from $115 to $180 plus shipping overnight. Good product though, for housewash and gutters. -
You need to figure out your gpm. If you are filling 10 gallons while emptying 1 (soap) in 2 minutes that is 10:1. 11 parts total. There are 128 oz. per gallon. Divide 128 by 11. That is 11.6% chemical and 88.6 water. I don't think your craftsman is delivering 5 gpm though so you will have to time it then do the math. As an example my machine delivers 4.5 gallons per minute. I empty 1 gallon in 2 minutes(downstream injector) Thats 9:1. I put 12.8% chemical out. Hope this helps.

Try applying housewash(with sodium hypochlorite) Rinse as usual then apply mix again to the cocoons, let it dwell alittle, rinse again. If you can get the proper angle(from the side) sometimes you can chisel them off. No real high pressure needed. Try a narrower fan like a 15 degree.

I ordered some products from Paul, The service was prompt and friendly. He kept me up to date on the shipping, tracking etc. Whenever I need e-spec's stuff that is where I will go. Welcome Paul. This is the "hot' board. Good luck.

Awesome X-Jet Container

Tractor supply. Nylon. Measure or take the little spigot with you just in case but I think the threads are 3/4" attached to the 3/8's barb(one piece). One 90 one straight. A few spares is a good idea. They're around $1.50. You'll love it. -

Barry, Your welcome. I'm glad you had success with it. You got the goodies and put them to use quick! As for rinsing, #9to #12 size orifice nozzles should put you in the 900-1500 psi range. Much bigger and your drawing soap again. You will develop an eye for what method you need. x-jet, downstreamer, tips etc. You can contact me anytime for more of the details. -

Awesome X-Jet Container
Dan Stapleton replied to Dan Stapleton's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hey Mike, That particular wal-mart may not carry the 7 but they could probably order it. The brand name of the one I posted about is Aqua-tainer and that name is in raised lettering on the side. The opening is about 2-3 inches. I mix in 5 gal. buckets with the pop-up spout in the lid and pouring into the container out of the spout works pretty well. They are short and wide. I've seen the skinny teal one too. Good luck and let us know. Dan Stapleton All Clean Pro Wash Tavares Fl 352-343-2811 -
I met a guy about a year ago that was working for the lowballinest company in my area. They have alot of commercial accounts and residentials. They use dish soap and chlorine on everything, downstream roofs and blast away, do very poor quality work. You get the picture. I ran into him about 6 months ago and when he told me he was going into business for himself I tried to give him some pointers about work quality and PRICE, that his employers were not a good representation of either. I spoke to him the other day at our local p.w. shop, he told me he was in the yellow pages ( I knew ), and the local coupon book. When I left I picked up a coupon book out of curiosity. Any house up to 1700 sq. ft. 47.95. No hidden charges. There were other assanine prices I won't go into. When I quizzed him on what chems he is using, get this- 2 gallons of chlorine to 23 gallons of water and dawn. Downstreamed. Needless to say, he is wailing away with the pressure. We use the same chlorine supplier and when I was there today was told he is buying 25-30 2-1/2's a week. It is pretty hard for this not to affect me. No matter how much you try to educate the customer his prices are out there and he is getting work. I guess in the long haul he'll burn out or wake up but in the meantime it is frustrating to say the least. My wife talked me out of calling him and telling him he is an idiot. Sorry for the long post. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks Ken, I was actually joking but there WAS an underlying current of complaining. I just read stainless' thread about being blessed and we all are (in the USA)myself included.....Bigtime. Thankyou to all for the great info on this board. I have learned so much and the learning never stops! God Bless. Dan Stapleton All Clean Pro Wash Tavares Fl 352-343-2811
