cat urine odor

Recommended Posts

Need suggestions for removing odor from a 1200sqft house so I can remodel the interior.

Many cats, many years.

Worst I ever smelled.

It is, stunning.

Carpeting loong gone. subfloor only.

Thinking about PW the whole interior before sealing all walls, ceiling, and floors.

What chems would help? Will apply enzymes after.

Open to any suggestions, other than a torch!

Rich,

Very simple. BINS (Zinnzer product), everything that has a spot and all the floors. This will cover the smell. It is a shellac based product. In fact, the only true schellac based product. You will be glad you did.

Janitorial supply companies have pet odor eliminators for use indoors in such cases as yours. If you cover it up now, it will come back later. Pet odors don't just go away when covered up, they need to be neutralized at the source.

Rod!~

Give Russ Johnson a call, from Southside Equipment. (you can find him here on the board)

He's got access to some incredible bacteria based chems that do wonders!!

Thank you all for the good information.

I did speak with them, and they are now in sticker shock.

And I only discussed preliminary things to get them

on the right path for lasting value...

Plenty of time for them to consider options.

The problem is not going away.

...I discovered a portion of the flooring has been removed,

and it's obvious they've been living under the house, too.

Yuck.
