Find a mentor that has been doing the work that you want to do. Go on a few jobs gratis, learn a trade. Hands on.

The last thing we need is State or Federal governments regulating our business.

Do good work at a fair price. It is simple. It is American.

The fact that there are not required certifications eliminates the barrier to entry creating competitors from all levels. However, this can be a huge advantage to a legit company that has some sort of training certifications, bonding, and licensing to separate them from the $99 guys.
