0 MudDuck 20 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 Its pretty amazing what some people can sit down and figure out what can be done. Imagin trying to build that the first time. UUUhhhg
0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 It's always nice to see creativity in building. So many decks are cookie cutter decks. Beth
0 RPetry 564 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 Adrian, Very interesting design. Not sure that 3 fasteners per joist was needed, with all the holes the middle looks like it was hit by a shotgun. I trust you posted the wrong picture, and the wood shown was before you stripped and brightened.
0 Adrian 155 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 No, it's the right pic. It's an after shot. It is approx. 17 years old and did the best I could with it. This builder is from the 80's and I have seen alot of their work around town. Some of the decks they built have not stood up that well over the years but are very cool in design. It had a mystery stain on it from previous H.O. along with Oly clear seal on top of it.(can left in garage) Had to do some color mixing w/RS ( a little med. brown mixed w/ dark brown) to match the arbor and post'. Customer was not the greatest to work with, but I managed. Personally knowing the efforts involved, I think it came out ok. I will see if I can post a pic of the strip. 0 RPetry 564 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 Sorry Adrian, I really thought the first picture was before stripping. If you look closely, the middle and left portions of the wood are green, thought it was mold or mildew. Photos can be tricky.
0 Adrian 155 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 No apologies needed. I probably missed a spot, lol. I'm surprised no one has commented on the "Cross" in the deck. That's what catches my eye personally. I guess I can only do so much resto to 17 y.o. wood anyway. I saw the Holy Mother in some oatmeal the other day!!!! Here's 350 L.Ft. of fence I did yesterday

Someone put a fish symbol on their website or business card jpeg and I personally had no idea what it meant. Does not really matter, I live in New Jersey and already experience hell on earth. Eternity is nothing.
0 Adrian 155 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 That customer gave me a good example of hell. LOL.
