acrylic strips are fun...

Question

Beige Olympic solid, acrylic latex two coats peeled after a year.

Stripped twice, didn't do much damage. Sanded down most of it, but there are still small pieces around.

Going with a solid oil, but just wondering how the spots which have the cursed hell stain will look and last if they are stained over.

When they don't budge with that much stripper / water / and oxalic, odds are, it's fine. You are using solid again, go a head and stain.

If you're going to stain with a solid latex, you don't even have to strip the old stuff. A good washing, brush off any flakes/peelings when dry, and stain away. Not even worth trying to strip the acrylic latex stuff. Never comes out good enuff to satisfy for a nice semi-trans finish.

im going solid oil.

definitely undercharged, and worst part is the HO said he was gonna stain himself because he doesn't want to spend the money...but now tells me he's gonna pay a painter!
