Security of your website?

Recommended Posts

Think I'm putting this in the right place? If not, Beth could you fix it?

OK, where do I start? ... Its winter, a day with a high over freezing is rare. Did a good job saving a lil extra at the last min. Of course we aint doin s....t, LOL! Different than last year, this is the first time I have work waiting for better temps! (That a good thing).

What I'm trying to say is I'm on this computer alot now. Outa bordom and curiosity. I googled gutterdogs, thats me.

I went back like 30 pages, (more?). Clicked on anythink I thought was relavent to website. (Talk about being bored????) found 2 forums. Just like this. Not pressure washin, not sure what. One was russian. (google translate), and the other czeck. It didnt do the greatest job translating. In Posts there were 4 or 5 websites mentioned (mine included!) and the word "password" translated. I dont know what this means?

Like some feed back on it. check your website out? scratch the www and the dot com stuf and google it. see whats being said about you? change your pasword. Things are changing way too fast.

Edit: I dont have pay pal?

Gutterdog,

Don't know if you have this problem resolved yet or not. Basically this is what happened, if your not being

found that is something you can do through SEO. "Search Engine Optimization" of your web site. There are a lot

of self things you can do, not cutting anyone from trying to make a buck SEO/IT folks. Being up north and it's

snowing or to cold and you have time look up SEO on google or email me and I will give you a list of sites

"that are good" they will also give you step by step instructions. This will get your web site to be listed

and findable through searches by potential customers. If you have access to your web site, what I mean is,

that you can make changes to pages, and post your own pictures etc. Are you hosting your web site with a local

ISP (Internet Service Provider) or are you hosting with a company that rents space on there server. If so are

they dedicated only servers or mixed, email, web sites, social networking, guess what I'm trying to say. Is;

for example, Someone has a web server, they advertise then accept (cheap more I get more I make) any and all

people who want space not really watching what they do as long as it doesn't crash MY server. Technical support

is slow and then sometimes cannot fix the problem, they tell you it's your site, so you pay them to fix it or

you take the time to fix it again. Later the problem you have shows up again, or what is really happening is a

hacker (someone with entirely to much time on their hands ) making an extra buck for spammers has gotten into

your site and leeched your bandwidth. That is probably how you traced your site 30 page back to the Russians

and Chechs. The other stuff you found probably links to porn sites or they use the paypal link on your site

with a overlay doorway page which has the link to pay for what ever they are selling.

This email could go on and on for days. I have a few tips pages I will email or post for all to see "Kind of

like a Do it Yourself SEO". I have my own dedicated server which I lease from a server only company since

1995, DNS (domain name server), I can watch and see every bit and bite through my web sites (I host 35 personal

& business sites) log files, I know who is being bad and when or who has been linked too unknowlingly, they all

contol their own sites. Don't want anyone here to misunderstand me, I am not selling space only trying to help

a fellow cleaning professional. These are all things you can do when you have time, it's not an overnight "pay

someone else thing to do", getting listed and searchable on Google, Yahoo & Bing. This way you are in control

of your advertising it's important, you wouldn't ask the guy walking down the street to run your equipment on a

job while you go get a cup of coffee. Your web site is the same piece of equipment it's a business tool, it's

all anyone sees FIRST unless they know you, a good professional web presence, listed, findable and searchable

is like music to your ears "Cha Ching" money in the bank. It's working when you are working, and working when

you are home at night with your family.

How did I do this, I am not an IT guy, but I wanted more knowledge so I read, read, read and then read some

more then tested, everything I could on SEO and building findable web sites. I have my own business and it is

not selling internet space. I have changed directions these past 3 years and now new opportunities are there

for me to expand into a new business. So I am here learning from you the Professionals in your field, reading,

reading and then reading some more. Hope this helps in your search for what happened to your site and how to

make it better. I will today get together some info for you to read and start with getting your site findable

not 30 or 40 pages back.
