How to make a trailer stronger?

Recommended Posts

I have a new trailer that can hold 1650 lbs. I need to make it strong enough to hold 3000lbs. any help appriciated!

Build a new frame, add another axle, get bigger hubs with brakes.

Seriously, a different trailer would be less expensive.

I agree w/ Tim.

You can add heavy duty leaf springs, stronger flooring , crossmembers and the whole nine yards.

You might be out of an awful lot of money with the beef up.

The issue that most forget to "beef up" is the wheel bearings. Most likely they are not rated for that kind of weight and will burn up in no time at all, and leave you stranded with your livelihood on the side of the road.

Just get another trailer and have two. One for heavy jobs , one for lighter jobs.
