Wood Patio Furniture

Question

Any idea of what kind of wood this is? Customer emailed me and is a couple hours away. She wants it restored and the manufacturer said to only use penofin oil.

I'm thinking of sanding and applying AC stain to the customers choice. Any input would be great.

Thanks

Looks like Ipe.
You can use penofin but it will need Japan drier added.

Apply to saturation and remove all the excess with a rag. Put used rags in water bucket.

If you apply Armstrong, same thing. Add Japan drier to expedite curing.

In either case, this helps to get the furniture to a state where it can be used without fear

of it getting on people clothes.

Japan Drier has the recommendations on the can for use with most oil based products.
I believe it is like 5oz/ max per 5 gallons. It goes a long way.
One thing though...only add it to what you intend to apply. It keeps on working even in the can.

This can cause the product in the pail to cure somewhat and become sluggy which would require

running through a paint screen to get rid of the larger stuff and changes the composition of the stain.
