  1. Just a quick question for the pump experts. Bought a shurflo pump model #8009-543-236 from northern tools. thought i was buying a 1.8 gpm 60 psi pump. can i really expect 1.8 gpm? when i test flowed it into a bucket it came out 1 gpm. it was set up with 10 ft of 3/8 hose on the inlet and outlet. not going through a sprayer of any sort. just free flowing into bucket. did i make an error? thanks in advance.
  2. Any little league baseball coaches here???

You did good. Take good care of those high quality bats because they will go dead if you dont. When they go dead you will notice right away. They dont last more than a season but by then he'll be ready for a bigger one anyway.

If your serious about buying a good bat your going to have to spend the money. Never buy a high quality bat that is used. These high quality bats lose there ability to hit the ball hard over time. They do not llast long at all if they are not taken care of. If you see your son/daughter pounding the bat on the ground you need to stop them. Also, we had bats we used for batting practice and then we kept our best bats for the games. My experience is that they go dead after onlly 1 season and thats if they are taken care of.
  4. Shurflo Pump

When I ran the flow test I was using 10ft of 3/8 open ended hose. I know that 1.8gpm is not going to happen but I didnt expect 1.0 either. Anyway I'll give it a shot. Don. I built one of your Phelps Wand and put a 6015 tip on it. I tried it out with a short piece of hose and it works great. Im going to love it if it sprays like that when I get the 200 ft. of 3/8 attachd to it. Should be delivered today. Thanks.

Hey Scott I think the 28 would work best but he might could use a 29 real soon. I like to pick a bat that has a -4 difference between the length and weight. I coached for many years and if I could give you 1 good piece of advice on how to hit the ball hard is to get him a t and several balls and a nice solid chain link fence to hit against. Dont use the neighbors. Teach him to 'throw' his hands at the ball with the bat if that makes sense. If you try it yourself and get it right you will see what I mean. It would feel like throwig the bat to a spot between second and first base. Good luck.
  6. State of Affairs - Gas Prices etc

$1.25 here in houston. Not!! Just kidding. Actually yesterday I saw it for 1.99 Not good. My wife works for Exxon and has a bunch of company stock in her 401. Dont want to see it come down to much myself.
  7. Clouds of Hydrochloric Acid

Good job John. Safety first sometimes is easier said than done and we all need a little eye opener from time to time to remind us what really is important to us and our families and that is to come home just like we left. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Clouds of Hydrochloric Acid

Sounds serious enough to me that you may want to consider drafting a letter in addition to the phone call. Send it to the owner of the company. You may have to do some research but you can find it. This way you will have documentation exactly what happened and on what date and time. This will put a little scare into him and will surely get his attention. If you dont hear back from him or dont think they are listening to what your telling them then send a copy to the city. Good luck.
  9. 9/11 - who done it!

I just wasted 15 seconds of my life reading this thread.
  10. My new brochure and flyer - take a look!

Keith of KBX Your work is tremedous. You do some really nice quality stuff at very reasonable prices. When the time comes you will be on the short list for graphic designers. By the way. What would it cost to get my logo and contact info on that black and white 'home bath' flyer and sent to me on a file that I can get some good quality prints from. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hello Gang 4 GPM pump 4000 psi 3.5 Nozzle Installed a pressure guage to check pressure because it seemed kind of weak. Had a leak on the hose reel packing gland and got that repaired thinking that was a problem. Pump oil level is fine. Water filter from tank is now clean. Belts (2) were checked and are nice and tight. I show 4000 psi without flowing water but only 1800 when flowing. Does this sound like its not loading up when under a load? Any ideals? Thanks in advance. Love the site by the way. Steve
  12. 3/8th vs. 1/2

Recently had pressure drop problems also. Check the obvious like the tips and unloader adjustment but my problem turned out to be a bad unloader. Check recent 'pump pressure' thread because the guys helped me a lot with the troubleshooting.
  13. Gutters

Hello Gang I understand how you are cleaning the exterior of the gutters. My question is how you are cleaning out the gutters themselves. I Have the curved attachement. What pressure do you reccomend. What nozzle? Thanks
  14. Pump Question

Kevin Man. Wish I could help you on this one. Sounds like you got it covered. Im going to be on the sidelines watching this thread continue and see what becomes of your pump and problem. Like reading a good book. Good luck. Steve
  15. How would you handle it?

My 2 cents worth. Although I see what the problem is and I dont think it was fair to you I still think you have to get over it and move on. Yea, it might be a principle issue but it has become an emotional issue as well and this will have far reaching effects. I do believe its worth a letter or phone call stating the problem with the scheduling and I think the guy would appreciate the call and will probably think twice before pulling that again. If you handle this right you can potentially come out much farther ahead in the long run with this guy. Its all part of doing buisness just like having to repair some critical equipment at your buisness when you need it most. It is what it is and nothing can change it. Like I said. My 2 cents worth. Good nite.
  16. Ken Fenner. I really like your summary. Especially the last one about daily prayer and meditating. And your right. That should probably rank up there as first on the list. For sales and marketing did you listen to Tom Hopkins? Did you benefit from his teachings? I am currently reading one of his books.
  17. Time To Give Back!

Good stuff. Thanks for the heads up.
  18. Pump Question

Put another unloader on the pw. Set it up to bypass back to the tank. Cranked it up and guess what. Builds pressure to 4000 psi after adjustment of regulator. With flow through the wand and a turbojet nozzle I get 4000 psi. With flow through the surface cleaner the pressure drops to 3200 psi. Does this indicate worn nozzles or is this normal for a surface cleaner with the 2 nozzle set up? Awesome!! This was done with water direct from city water pressure and not the tank. Only varible left to check now but I'm sure its going to work fine now. Many thanks to all who responded to this thread. I come from the facilities maintnenace profession so if you have any a/c or electrical isssues at your home let me know as I think I can be somewhat of a resource for you guys and gals on this. Thanks again!!!!
  19. Welcome New Members! ..Introduce yourself

Just like to take a moment to introduce myself as for the last 2 weeks I have been reading all the expert advice and comments. I hope that someday I will be able to help someone else out myself. I recently bought a trailer mounted 4000 psi 4.0 gpm cold water unit with accessories and 200 gal tank. I've had some problems with the pump and I have had lots of help on this site troubleshooting and it should be working fine after a little work. Not sure if I am going to go 100 percent with this but am thinking serious about it. I am checking out what insurance and some start up marketing will cost. I know that real soon I need to add a hot water box or spring for a new hot water pressure washer. I think cold water will limit me as the tough grease and oil jobs I would have to pass on. Anyway, I would like to work with someone for few days and just check it out and ask some questions and make a decision then. I am in Houston and am willing to travel to Dallas, San Antonio or Austin if someone can put up with me. Before I forget let me just say that I haven't seen a profession yet where so many people come together and pitch in to help each other. Its very nice to see professionals giving back and not just taking all the time. The site is well ran and just a tremendos resouurce for those already in business and those like myself on the outside looking in and wondering if this is right for me. Thanks for having me. Steve
  20. Pump Question

Hello Gang Bypassed the unloader by going straight to the wand as suggested. Pressure with trigger wired opened and me shaking in my boots climbed to 4500 psi and leveled out right there. Ok. Sounds like a problem with the unloader. Either the unloader is bad or I'm not getting it adjusted properly. It is the same as any regulator. Correct? I have it turned in (clockwise) as far as it will go and get 2500 now. Am I missing something here? If not then I'm sure the unloader is bad.
  21. Pump Question

Thanks Paul and to all who have had input up to this point. More troubleshooting work continues today starting with the pressure test with the unloader being bypassed. Question. Know of a good pump parts supplier?
  22. Pump Question

On the previous reply what I meant was not to plug the inlet of course as this is for the water supply. Wont get a whole lot of pressure with that now would I. LOL.
  23. Pump Question

I took off the head to inspect the packing glands. Going to go ahead and replace these. Also, I want to run my bypass on the unloader straight back to the tank as everyone reccomends. My unloader is 2 pieces with the outlet of the bypass joined to the inlet with a 1/2 inch pipe with an o ring on it. Cant I just plugged the inlet with a male threaded plug and run a hose off the unloader bypass? Want kind of pressure is this? Thanks.
  24. Pump Question

Ok. Here is where I'm at now. Ran water directly to pump bypassing the tank. Pressure went from 1800 to 2000 when flowing water. Also, engine is running fine. No problem there. Still seems that I should get more than that. There is just not much kick from the lance. Not like when I bought the machine about 6 months ago. I do have a water leak although very very small from the high pressure relief valve on side of pump. Maybe that is it. Funny thing is that this pump will build pressure to 4000 but only 2000 when flowing water. Any more suggestions? Unloader? Packing Glands.
  25. Pump Question

Thanks Paul and Ryan. Sounds like Ryan you seem to feel like there is no problem while Paul you think that I just might have a problem with first checking the supply water for a restriction. There is no restriction that I see but tomorrow I'm going to feed directly from the city water tap instead of the tank to see what that does. Paul, if that doesn't show me something then I will call you. Also, I think I'm going to do a flow check tommorow also (GPM). Thanks for the help gentlemen.
