  1. Rick you are right it's a lot of nonsense and shameful.

One of mine started to act weird today. Fresh gas today and it started to run for about 15-20 seconds then shuts down. All filters are clean and it starts right up for another 15-20 sec then shuts down.

Any suggestions??? Would it be the gas? Its a Honda Engine.

I would replace the fuel lines. The rubber inside breaks down and the collapse resulting in lack of fuel. You can not tell by just looking at the outside. Gas lines should be replaced from time to time. One thing for sure, if the outside of the line is hard go ahead and replace them. The fuel today is wrecking havoc on small engines.

  2. It's not good to let the unloader unload for more than three minutes. I found that some of my crews where setting up as they should including firing up the pressure washer. Kept having this problem even on pumps that where only a month old. Made sure everyone knew the pressure washer only runs for 1 minute without you pressure washing problem solved.
This is why we always setup our trailer units with the unloader bypassing back to the water tank. This eliminates many problems. It will save you lots of money in the long run. I have always advised people using a portable machine to have a ball valve between their hose and gun to simply detach the gun and open the ball valve if they need to lay the gun down for more that two minutes. This way the water will just run out on the ground and they will not have to worry about the problem. As always, if you are close enough to the machine just turn it of.

  3. I'm ok with the mix ratios. It's just the no proportioner (i.e. lots of solution) that I don't like. Wide open, you're looking at 2-3 buckets (10-15 gal) per house.

With a 15:1 proportioner I make one 5 gal bucket of 12% and use about 1/2-2/3 of a bucket per house.

You are applying too much or you are cleaning very large houses.

  4. I'm seriously considering it. I've been running 13:1 proportioner and washing a house with about 2-3 gal of 12% NaHClO. Works great. Put 1 gal of soap and 4.5 gal of 12% in a pail and go.

If I'm so happy, why switch? My present soap does a good job, but leaves something to be desired with post-wash gloss, window streaking, and gutter streaks. Apparently CC handles all three of these well, so I wanted to give it a try.

The biggest problem I see is that at recommended ratios CC drops my in the bucket ratio to 6-7.5% (vs 10.5 with my mix). Hence, I need a 8-10:1 ratio for a CC & bleach bucket (no water). Since the xjet only offers 13:1 (too thin), 6.5:1, or open, it appears that heavy buckets with gallons of unneccessary water and CitraClean are joined at the hip. Anyone know how to get 10:1 from an xjet at 5.5gpm?

As you mentioned, I can downstream at 10:1 Why am I not already downstreaming? Ignorance. I've only done it once for about a week and the experience was abysmal. Ratio's too low, dial-a-guess numbering, long clearing times, corroded QC's. I'm certainly open to thoughts.

    X-Jer is a 2:1 ratio, that is why I pre-mix the formula.

  5. Actually I have ran across this before. Believe or not, the red cleaned off the siding very easily. Do a test area, it should clean pretty easy. Let the homeowner know that he will need to paint or replace the shutters. Prewet the stucco, use standard housewash mix. Feel free to call me with questions 607 435 5539 cell

If needed you can subsitute your housewash soap with Gutter Shock in the mix.

  6. Beth, My wife Beth wants to know when you will be having another article in Cleaner Times. She loves to read your style and looks foward to learning from you. She also said to tell you and Rod hello. Please visit Steve Flynn's site on The Cleaner Network because I am back and your name will always pop up. We have always admired and respected your insight.

  7. The Cleaner Network is offically back. It is in "Restart" mode and we are working on retreiving all of the photos and avatars. Please feel free to come back and join in. Please look at the announcement at the top of any of the forums. We are still working on things and new members will be able to register soon.

  8. For Steve it was a business tool to promote and sell his chems. That is what the board was designed for and did well for awhile.

Without Steve's participation to promote his product, I am not sure it would be worth bringing back.

If the new guy selling Steves chems had the same knowledge and use of them, and used the board the same way, then it may be worth keeping around.

It will be back soon. We thought it would have been up by the end of last week but there was a great deal of info to bring back. I will be running it and plan on being more active than the last year it was open. Steve Flynn asked me to be a Spokesman for him of the products I made for RPC, same products just not under the RPC label. They have been there all along but many didn't know how to find them. I will be offering advice like I used to but my time on the phone will be limited unless you are a Verizon customer. I will make a post as soon as it is back up and running. Thanks to all of you that dealt with me over the years. I am eager to be involved in this industry once again. Life works in many mysterious and wonderful ways. With this being Memorial Day I salute my son (MP Army) in Iraq and all of the heros overseas.
