Cleaning a composite deck/railing
MMI Enterprises replied to Rob R.'s question in Residential Pressure Washing
Looks like the psc is siloxane and who knows with the vseal. Don't see it on their site or any msds for that matter on anything. Some product says what they are like the acrylics and but others like the 20 year concrete sealer is not all that candid on what it is. Is it silica, is it lithium based densifier? I mean what gives..can't use it if I don't know what it is or how much it costs. And really no thanx on the calling them thing. Don't have time or inclination to log down what they could make handy in a sentance or two on their site or product description. My feeling is they could take a lesson from other sites and be more clear. -
Can't wait Ron..knowing yer past offerings it should be a good one. Mine goes as such: I open my last quote and goto a tab that applies either customer or internal note before or after line items. I grab a terms paragraph from it into my clipboard and then note the quote number. These quotes are in almost the same format as an invoice but the cell inclusion and order is customized. Now I start a quote, drop those two above infos in, and save. Then off the quotes customer box/drop down list I create a new customer by copy/pasting from email or estimate form. Normally that would be off a main tab listed as customer or vendor maintenance and is just easier to do off a quote or an invoice. So now the quote is almost finished but for doing my line items. Again a drop down lets me at my inventory which is a huge variety of items. Some are fixed rate some are sq. ft. Depending on how I expect bid meeting to go I print out a couple version to offer customer. Like one will be for clean and stain of decking and railing or one may be for stripping of deck and porch/pergola, etc. But for a word or two and the actual price there may not be much difference in the items. If the location has not been measured the price is already listed and but quantities are left blank and I total stuff up on the spot. My feeling is customers appreciate knowing I am working the bidding process off an already set price. This way the customer can sign on the spot or least they know what the amounts are. Later on within a day or so I email or fax them over version with the quantities and totals filled in by computer. Since inventory is ready for the taking and the terms paragraph includes tentative start/completion dates, stain color choices, and signature/acceptance lines it usually takes less than a couple minute start to finish to make a new customer quote that turns into a contract. About as long as it takes to read this... :) This past Friday I received call for bid as I was about to head out the door to a bid meeting in same area of town. I walked my old lady through the above quote process as I was busy with hygene and getting dressed (don't ask). Loading test chem/stain samples can take time...lol I get about 5 line items on quote without the quote itself extending into two pages. Other pages such as terms sheet, reference sheet, ins. are provided as sutiable.

MMI Enterprises replied to NateF's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yup..I'de prefure the brushless models in highrider format such as the 640...packings may last longer too. These type of airless along with reversable tips and the 24" extension wand will make yer day..(Costco for the commercial wagner and Lowes for the wand!!, cheapest) -
the quickest way to strip a deck
MMI Enterprises replied to perfect power wash's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Fair enough Dan..thanx. Since I use another stripper all I can do is go off what others say. Ken says ya can get the half tub in so.... Dry volume measure complicates things.. I should go less and count more on the other ingredients. Burned my wrist the other day and it kinda hurts. :o ps-- if it were straight hydroxide we could use the following link to see that half lb of hydroxide (8oz.) converted to dry volume is closer to 3/4 cup than what is listed on ESO faq for hd80. For hd80 they say 2/3 cup. Here ya go, pick a chem: Weight to Volume conversion online. -
the quickest way to strip a deck
MMI Enterprises replied to perfect power wash's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Joel, surely that is not the limit. For instance you can get lbs. and lbs. of NaOH in a gal. There is a faq on bottom of this page for hd80: Extreme Solutions - Quality Restoration Products .. extended info- Extreme Solutions - Quality Restoration Products ..btw, you need to know your DSratio/factor before you settle on 20oz of anything.. i.e- 1:5 (20% streamer) = 6x .. so 20oz/6= 3.33oz per gal TTW -
Ron, I am ready for another youtube summary video showing you doing yer contract/quote start to finish....thanx :)

Nathan, Take it back with vengeance is my opinion. What are ya gonna do refill it every 5 minutes? Buy an airless with drop tube to a fiver at the blue or orange box stores or Costco. -
Airless Hoses? Where can I find them?
MMI Enterprises replied to fireandrain's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Not sure if ya need the 3/8 or not but maybe you would like the 1/4" orange ones at Harbor Fright. Don't quote me but I think they go to 500psi or some such and they not heavy. Pic below is like 150- 200 ft. worth for maybe $40-$50 or so.. They got Goodyear too if not mistaken.. ps- nope, think that pic shows it as 250 psi -
Haven't ran into this one yet..that's just too crazy. Logic would say that if you conversed with them prior to the appointment that they were not deaf. ps- did you show up in a suit and/or on a bicycle?..maybe they thought you were lds or the witnesses.. :lgangel:

Hooking 2 machines together
MMI Enterprises replied to Richard's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Asked about it recently..I want to do it. Do we assume the setup defaults to the lowest machines pressure? -
Yes I do like Free when teachings are not a full on course or semester that involves major time from a teacher and involves having a space to cunduct the teaching.

come on Russell..you plenty old enough to get VHF correct..:) -
Before ya know it they'll be a course to teach old folk how to play Guitar Hero.

don't ferget me too :)

Well Ken maybe it not effecting search rank but whatever they did it must of upped the anty as I lost a point here and there without making any changes. Course they do say that rank does depend on how frequent changes to a page are made. I'll assume my lack of attendance to making changes is the reason for loosing points.

Hey Ron that was a nice summary..basically the peachtree is about the same what with all the auto memorized invoicing and form/report designing stuff. Dane, Profile like Ron mentions probably contains the credit/debit accounts (chart of accounts) specific to service field or the pressure washing and perhaps even some inventory items. I would take him up on it if so......would want a copy myself in case I do decide to switch over..Fork it over Ron! In demoing a few progs over the years they all pretty much offer sample profiles one could start off with. Some profile more geared for professionals that bill on time and some more for service trades that may bill on time or fixed rate and sq. ft. inventory. Probably any of the programs available have a basic help file that will explain the basic accounting methods of cedits and debits. Every transaction you do in such programs are classified as one or the other but it first depends on whether the credit or debit applies to an income or an expense account. In other words a credit to an expense account is a credit/addition to that account but of course ends up a subtraction from say a bank account or a budget account. So in essence a chart of accounts/profile will have such inner workings already created. Even the most basic will let you create new accounts manually from scratch to cover the type or source of yer income or expenses. I have income accounts that cover such things as contracted janitorial work, floors work, pressure washing, wood work, even ones for a delivery job I used to run. The beauty of making many is that then your reports and graphs can show you how much one area is doing compared to another. I assume the main training needed for many relates to accounting principles and/or forms designing..

NEW House Wash Mix - Look ?
MMI Enterprises replied to Apple Roof Cleaning's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Please validate it not strong enough for roofs. Coulda sworn I debunked internally in my mind that much myth was involved concerning lack of chlorine strength... with SH the end effects have something to do with the hydroxide/salts content contributing to the reaction/oxidizing.. -
If it that complex that ya need training I can't help but be suspicious as I would want a novice to be able to do basic tasks from the get go. But now if it is really that rich with features to need training then it may be right up my alley...like next year..lol. Surely it self learns and doesn't need training. :)..j/k .I have demoed it years back.

Got them all correct...:) j/k. I missed a few cause I thought they were trying to trick me. Merrygoround I ben on goes both ways and I also cheated and looked over at fan just to my left and but noted the direction wrongly. ;( -
This o'le dino uses an older Peachtree. If I knew that newer version of it or the Qb eliminated other progs I might be swayed to upgrade. I use works calender/alarm for scheduling. In using primo pdf I snag quotes and then 3rd party email ap them. See the version I got doesn't email directly or translate them into what OE works with. Besides that there is a flaw that disallows creation of multiple quotes for a customer during same period without the original being over written even though the quote numbering is incremental.. is getting anoying. What would be the bomb is if QB could import a company profile with charts of accounts and inventory from Peachtree. Otherwise I have to start al over. ;(

What Would You Charge For THIS Monster??
MMI Enterprises replied to fireandrain's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Some areas like that redwood masking job above could be done without plastic and tape expense and likely done as quik or quiker simply by tarping whole area and cutting in the underneith areas later on. In other words if one is good enough to tape an area like that with all them windows fast they would be just as fast in cutting in... The log protection scheme I like... Apparently although each little window could be taped it was better choice to protect the whole thing as one square and get the fine work after...
