  1. I have a 63 series General Pump, and the Plastic oil level indicator (site glass) broke. I need help finding a parts store in my area (Mandeville, Louisiana) or a web site that can ship overnight. I have tried the yellow pages and the net even called general pump and had to leave a message. (Presidents Day I guess) I have two jobs for this week and could use some help locating this.

    Thanks, Mike

  2. There is a pest control company in St. Louis doing this. They were on a local talk show. They said the first time a customer calls them to hang lights its (are you sitting down) 3G's. The do a professional layout and drawing, and you have to buy the lights from them. They claim they have 75 homeowners that hire them.

WOW!! Thats a lot of money to make during the off season. Who is paying for this service? people with more money than they know what to do with, Older people that cant get on ladders? It has always been a family thing for us to do the lights every year.

  3. I worked for a property maintenance co. for 5 years and saw the amount of money that was paid out for this service over the years, so when I quit and started my own home maintenance company I added it on to the list. I am about as green as it comes but I am learning every day thanks to this site. By the way I am 30.

  4. I saw a link for the dryer kit on a website and found it cheeper at amazon.com. The products web page is http://www.linteater.com/ . I just got it in the other day and used it at my house and my brothers house and it did the job. I did my first customers house yesterday she actually had a small fire in her dryer. It took me over an hour to get all the lint out of the duct and the dryer itself. I wish I had pictures to show how much lint was in there, It was enough to fill up a plastic grocery bag. The vent was only 14' long. I charged $150.00 And I also had to repair the flashing on the roof top.

  5. Hello all, I am new to this site and to this business and I have a question about my prices. I have washed over 25 house since June of this year and have never lost a bid. I did bid one yesterday and I dident get it because I was, in his mind "overpriced"

The house was about 3,000 sqft. two story raised house with three dormers and a wrap around wood porch with railing. The house was all vinyl siding and has never been washed. The house is about 10 years old, and VERY dirty. And I was also going to seal the deck after it dried.

When I price a house i try to think how long it will take me (I work by myself) and on this job I was thinking about 6-8 hours due to the heavy soiled vinyl and being a raised 2 story home with all the wood deck.. I bid the job at $600.00

I thought we was going to have a heart attack. I explaned to him what type of chemicals I was going to use, That I was going to move and protect all of his plants and outdoor furnuiture, The quality of work that I do and that I am locally and owned / insured contractor.

What do yall think, Overpriced or not?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  6. Hello, Just wanted to say hi to all and that I love this site, It's loaded with great info. I own a Home Maintenance co. in Mandeville, LA. and just purchased a pressure washer due to several customers request. It seems once I start a job in a neighborhood I wind up washing one or two more houses. So i have purchased a 24' extension pole, surface cleaner and a new 3700psi pressure washer. I was not planing on doing this many houses but the money is great and is a great way to cool off during the summer. I am also getting ready to start offering dryer duct cleaning, I have been repairing appliances for 12+ years and know this is a problem with just about every house I go to. I cleaned them b-4 with a leaf blower and a 4" toilet brush on the end of a flex rod (due to the lack of the right tool). I just ordered a cleaner off the net and should be in next week. Do any of Yall offer this service?

    Thanks,

    Mike
