  1. Russ- I figured it out........ DON'T LAUGH PLEASE! :) Ok, Remember on your post above you say I need to make sure that my power switch breaks both legs of the circuit for the motor? Well, with my volt meter I couldnt figure out why my transformer was getting 90V all the time and 240V with my pressure switch depressed. Heres what I did wrong..... THE SWITCH NEEDS TO BREAK BOTH LEGS OF THE CIRCUIT DUMMY! I needed to wire all saftey switches on the 115v side of the transformer if I want to only break one leg. GEEEZ........ Well I learned something valuable tonight........ Even though I was already told............ Kyle
  2. Ok- The machine is finished! It looks great, runs great, and I am VERY pleased with the results. I will have pictures posted by the end of the week. The heater doesn't work, and on my step down transformer, (from 240 to 110v) I keep blowing the 1 amp primary voltage fuses, so I am going to try a different amperage to see what happens. The valve on the gas valve shouldnt take more than 1 amp to open, but we'll have to see. Also I am on the GP website trying to find some good nozzles. once I figure out the nozzle size this machine will be golden! Kyle
  3. Good Training Resource

Hello- I just bought a Mytee brand extractor, and wanted to get some training or info on how to use it with various types of chemicals. Basically I am looking at various PH levels in some of these chemicals and want to know if you are pre spraying them and letting them dwell then rinsing with a acid rinse? Or are you adding these PH cleaners directly to the machine.
  4. Hi Guys! Just got back from my extended stay in the mojave tonight and my 6HP 240V 3450 motor was here waiting, and my pump is on its way. The pump I selected, is a HyPro 2359B-P. I am a little worried about the shaft size, given that most pumps have a 24mm and this one uses a 3/4 inch. but for $225 I think I did ok. I wanted to oversize the pump in order to run it slightly slower than its 1750 max and also to get everylast drop of water out of that 6hp motor. This HyPro pump should last me a good 20 years! I am hoping that no fabrication will be needed to adapt my unloader or to bolt the pump to the machine. Ill try to keep everyone updated.
  5. I have been in the middle of upgrading my electric landa from 1.5hp to 6hp. I have decided to change my General pump (for the 3rd time, thisjust keeps getting more and more complicated) out for a larger unit with a higher GPM rating and higher Psi. My question is, When a horsepower number is given for a particular pump is that the max or the min? Or is it just a suggested Hp to use? Also if I use too large of a pump, does it just perform at a percentage of its rating? For example will a pump for a 10hp engine produce half of its rated output if driven by a 5hp motor? Or will it be so underpowerd that it produces very little pressure due to having such a high internal rotational mass. Can I buy a pump for a 9hp motor, then drive it with my 6hp for a reduced rating......maybe a similair performance number that a pump that is actaully rated at 6hp? Thanks in advance guys! I am still shopping for a good belt drive pump to suit my needs, but will be a more educated consumer with the correct info.
  6. understanding pump specs

THATS WHAT I NEEDED! Thanks Russ. I have found a good deal on a HyPro pump, but cant seem to find any info on wether or not guys have been happy with them.
  7. Yes, it has the pilot and on position on the valve. I assume this will need to be replaced or re wired as you stated above. Illcheck it out! and continue to post. Kyle
  8. I Know- It always seems like I am doing something goofy. When I moved to texas the movers did alot of damage to the machine, so I have about $700 to spend on this. It is a Rotary switch, and It should be easy to get ahold of as Landa built this machine also as a 220V. I am actaully in the dessert right now on a new deployment, seems I get almost no time at home these days! What does the transformer do? This machine uses a ignition switch rather than an autolight. in other words first you must light the pilot with a small button and a knob.
  9. Ok heres my new Landa!- http://homepage.mac.com/kyle_harris/FileSharing2.html I need some info, I have a GP TT9111. I now have a 1.5HP motor. If I upgrade to a 2hp would it be possible for me to acheive 1200 PSI? The spec sheet online for the pump says 1500 max. Also to use the steam function it says to turn the steam valve on, I cant find it. Anyone know how to work this? I also suspect I need to buy a few things for downstream chemical injection, I have the wand but I think there is a hose that attaches to the pump maybe? I think the wand handle pulls in and out to inject the checmical. If someone could educate me on this I would like that as well. I also dont see a thermostat on this machine, which leads me to believe that it is either on or not, and will only cut off if the temp reaches the saftey cut off point. I'll call Southside on monday and get what I need. And if you called earlier I am sorry I was unable to talk at the time, but if you want to call again, I would be VERY interested to hear what you have to say! Thanks! Kyle
  10. THe burner on this new Landa of mine doesnt shut off when you release the trigger on the wand. After some troubleshooting I discoverd that I have a pressure switch that is attached to my unloader. This pressure switch has a small micro switch inside that should be either open or closed if the unloader is recirculating. This switch remains closed REGARDLESS off whether I have the trigger depressed or not. So.......... I opened the cover of this pressure switch and discoverd that the micro switch inside is being depressed ANYTIME the machine is running. As soon as I hit the power switch and the machine builds pressure, it depresses the micro switch. What is wrong? I assume that the pressue switch itself is not the problem, or is the spring weak, causing that switch to be depressed under to low of a pressure? Kyle
  11. Pressure switch question

First off, thanks to all who replied. Russ down at Southside Equipment is where I buy all of my stuff. I called for a pressure switch, and after a quick conversation Russ advised that I check the unloader to be sure it wasnt forcing that plunger to hit the switch. After popping the discharge side of the unloader apart I cleaned the small "bullet" and seat on there and made sure that the O-ring had a clean sealing surface to sit against, and the machine is WAY BETTER! That plunger in the switch is now operating 100% and moving in and out. But most important my burner is shutting off the way it should between trigger cycles. The next fix will be my trigger gun which looks brand new, but for some reason started weeping today. A Special Thanks to Russ at Southside Equipment!. Thanks Russ! Kyle
  12. Pressure switch question

Rod- So is what has happend here is the pressure portion of the switch has failed, but the electrical or "micro switch" portion is still good. That sounds logical, I just wanted be sure I didnt have some sort of unloader problem that was causing the recirc to be under too high of a pressure. Well that is a cheap and easy fix! Thanks! Kyle
  13. If it runs off of starting fluid than you know it is a fuel problem. First I would make sure that there is fuel in the bowl of the carb if yes, next I would take the carb off of the engine take it apart and inspect the needle and seat. it doesnt take much to cause a problem here. Keep us posted!
  14. Hello- I am looking to buy a new machine due to the fact that my old 110v Hotsy has been sold. Would anyone reccomend one of these machines?NorthStar Electric Hot Water Pressure Washer 1015 PSI, 2 GPM, 120 Volt |Electric/Hot Water | Northern Tool + Equipment I want a nice piece of equipent, but may not use this machine for more than a few minutes at a time once per week to clean dirty equipment or greasy engines. this is a machine for home use! Any ideas? I wouldnt mind a 220v and am open to a gas machine. I wouldnt mind finding a good used one.
  15. I have decided on a used Landa machine, and will post pics after I pick it up. Kyle
  16. Propane or electric

    Now THATS a machine!
  17. Hot Water Problems

My Hosty was doing that same thing, then I realized the airbands were no longer there, they were actually gone! Make sure that the airbands did'nt get all moved around. Kyle
  18. Hi everyone! Im back! I now have a new computer, and the storm mess has all been cleaned up. I am now back in the market for a hot water pressure washer, now that my old Hotsy is gone. I had looked at one of those cheap red plastic units that they sell at Northern but several people here on the board talked me out of it. But this is what I did find, In my local paper I found one of these for sale:http://www.advancedequip.com/VHP.pdf It is the model with only 2.3 gallons at 700PSI. I would LOVE to have a propane machine, and think its really cool that this one has a steam setting. I only use my washer to degrease engines and wash out engine bays, I may wash a tractor once in a while. With this be enough power? I guess I dont know what 700 PSI feels like. Would I be able to upgrade the pump later to say maybe 1200 PSI? Thanks Guys! Kyle
  19. Landa with 700 PSI

Ah! Sorry for the misundterstanding! When I said engine bays I meant under the hood of a car. Ok, thanks guys. Once I get this machine I post pics! Kyle
  20. Landa with 700 PSI

So just for me to de-grease engines, 2.3@700 is prolly not enough? I wonder what this machine is for? Kyle
  21. I have a Landa machine with a horizontal burner. The coil is leaking, how can I tell if it can be welded? For example, are there certain parts of the coil that cannot be welded? Where is the best place to find a coil for a reasonable price? Is there anyone with a good used coil? Kyle
  22. New Coil For Landa

Thanks Paul- The deal ended up falling through, as I couldn't get ahold of him to pick it up after I won the auction. But I sparked an interest in him with fixing it. And he says he will call you on Monday.
  23. Thanks Guys- my ISP was down for a few days due to the storms. Russ, I got your email and am looking it over. thanks again! Kyle
  24. Enterprise is a mess........ I am in MN right now, I guess my house is just fine. But I live maybe 1/2 a mile from that school that collapsed. I call today Russ!
