  1. The dangers of constant chemical inhalation.

Hoosierwindowtek here... :lgwave: I'm new, but just wanted to share my .02 I used to do vehicle undercoating years ago and people would always complain about the odor. I myself couldn't smell the stuff anymore after some time, so I wondered why they made such a big deal about it. Nowadays, if I'm around a vehicle that's been recently undercoated,(I currently still do a lot of automotive window tinting) It smells really bad to me, too. I think what I had experienced was acclimation due to frequent exposure, and I regret not wearing a respirator. Recently, I started doing pickup truck spray bedliners, and in researching that product learned that without proper protection, a person develops what's called sensitization which means your body gets MORE sensitive to the effects, not less. Overexposure to those chemicals can lead to permanent asthma, and even one case of asthma related death. In short, it's always best to limit exposure to chemicals. Chlorine is used to purify water for drinking, and in limited amounts is helpfull and useful. However, it's obviously corrosive, and I don't think anyone wants to corrode the sensitive tissues in the eyes, throat, and lungs! :lgsick:
  2. I'm not doing any gutter cleaning this time of year, but just curious; How do you avoid the dripping chemicals from getting on stuff when cleaning gutters? For example, when cleaning gutters, I often get drips of chemicals and the white colored oxidation on windows, sidewalks, and worst of all, garage doors. Sometimes it makes a horrible mess, and I spend as much time cleaning the drips as I do cleaning the gutters themselves.Especially when using the x-jet is this a problem, and I don't know how to use it without this problem. Thanks for the input, I'm new here and somewhat new to pressure washing too.
  3. Welcome New Members! ..Introduce yourself

My name is Richard, I'm from Bloomington, IN. and I'm pretty new to the pressure wash business, only about a year+, but I've had my own business of Window Tinting for over 10 years. I decided last year to get into window cleaning, which branched into pressure washing by customer request and It turns out that pressure washing is much more enjoyable and profitable than window cleaning, so I prefer to do the pressure washing. Thanks for having a great board!
