  1. Discount for Cash

John, We have folks ask for discounts for cash, senior discount, you name it, we hear it. I politly always refuse. Why would I discount our fix fee for our company? Where does a discount for them give us business. We all hear that if the price is right, they have more work! POOP on them! The other work never comes around. Our company cost are fixed. We sell our business at a fixed rate. That's it. Discounts to us are for quantity or volume. I'd gladly do 1,000,000 sq. ft. for less than 1,000 sq. ft., per sq. ft. Look who shops at discount stores. I'd prefer the customer who really cares about their property. Who is willing to pay the price for a quality job. No discounts there. Thank You.
  2. Price?

Travis, We charge $1.50-2.00 per sq ft. We're in the Canton area. The main thing is you need to charge what your company needs to profit. If you get too many jobs, your too low. The rate we feel is about 35% of estimates to jobs. Don't sell yourself short. You only have so many hrs. to work. Make all you can. It's better to sit at home, then lose money on any job. The clients you previously worked for will be calling you back and refering you to others if you did the job right. A few years and you'll be very busy. Thank You.
  3. How about running this again to see if there are any changes? Thank You.
  4. to funny

I'm not making fun at anybody. I was the Station Wagon Bandit ten years ago. We all have to start somewhere. If we didn't change and still do the same work at the same price as ten years ago, chastise me. I deserve it. Some people never learn. We try to help one another. This is big in the PDCA. Help contractors grow and prosper. This is a picture of a PWer on his way. Just an example of who doesn't charge enough. Thank You.
  5. I'm having a simple problem, costing me lots of Money. My quick connects are very hard to seperate? No pressure, clean and fairly new. They do not want to seperate. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You.
  6. Quick Connects

Thank You all. I appreciate the info. These couplings have cost me too much. I will try all the ideas. The next time I see you all together, the next beers on me! LOL
  7. cwf uv5

Jeffex11, We tested CWF-UV5 for Flood. It is a very nice product, easy to use and dries nice. Try it often, you may like it. We are ready to stain a 200+ foot 2/sides fence and deck this week. I'll try to post picts if I can. Thank You.
  8. Bobs- a - building

We just picked our rig up two weeks ago from Bob. I've been working it hard since. The rig will save us time, make us more money and helps to eliminate alot of ladder work. We also Thank Bob and Pressure Tek. It is always a pleasure working with them. They all are a great source of help for new crews like us. Thank You.
  9. Stripper ?

We like the Flood's Stripper cleaner. It will usually do the job if needed. Careful though. It will burn.
  10. Keeping Restora in the stores

Anthony, This is our second year of using Restora. we will continue to use it as long as we can get it. The problems, I believe are some inexperienced or could care less contractors do not clean the substrate. They low ball, then cloud the issue by applyng Restora over Oxyidation. We have never had any problems and find Restora is one of our most profitable jobs. We have three homes lined up so far this year. Looking forward to 50-100 if possible. Thank You.
  11. Two Tone Deck

S & J, I'll post a couple more picts. The two tone is very nice and it gets premium rates. Thank You.
  12. Two Tone Deck

I must not have downloaded correctly. Here are a couple more of the same deck. Thank You. I am not doing something right? Why doesn't the photos download?
  13. Two Tone Deck

S & J, We like Flood's solid stain. Here is an example. The white is very white. What colors are you going? Thank You.
  14. Effective Flyers

Guate, To deduct 10% from your pricing, will you be adding the 10% onto the price? We have a set rate our company runs on. No discounts, Senior, Spring, etc. unless we add it into the estimate to begin with. I collect unemployement before working for free. Giving away work is a liability and could cost you alot in the long run. Thank You.
  15. Effective Flyers

guate, I would target past customers. Thank Them for past work, and ask for more work. I,m getting about 3% return on this now. Good Luck.
  16. Higher Learning or not?

I currently have 96 college credit hrs. It would do me no good to go further at this time. I educate myself daily. Thank You.
  17. Restora?

squirtgun, We were an original tester for Restora. We have no problem holding the warranty for Restora or any of the Flood products we use. We stand behind every project we do. We use no inferior products or poor workmanship. If a product fails, the manufacturer warranty will be used. If our workmanship is inferior, we should be responsible. Thank You.
  18. Restora?

I just found out about Restora. We have it planned for our business this year. We will follow up and continue to market Restora. If you never planned on using it, you gain nothing. We have an investment, time and money, so it will work for us. It has been our most profitable jobs last year and hopefuly will continue to do so this year. Flood's CWF & CWF-UV5 isn't the same product. The UV5 is very nice to work with and will not come off. The Flood company has been a Great company for us to work with and hopefully AzoNobel will continue our relationship. They are a very dedicated company and know the wood business. Thank You.
  19. I miss cold weather

Jon, Welcome to North. We do Love it. It keeps us tough and ready. Another day in Paradise LOL
  20. Making shutters shine

Ken, Since we are a painting company, we charge by the labor and materials. If you figure it, we are getting from 1.25 - 1.50 per sq ft. This accounts for all labor and materials. I realize most PW folks charge at a rough rate of $100. per hr. That is what we would get for PW, but we do the additional work. You cannot hand apply materials at $100. per hr. However when you have six workers and making $5-$10 net from each worker it adds up. On a 1500 sq. ft. home it take us about 2hrs PW then another 1/2 day for application. I hope this helps you. Thank You.
  21. Making shutters shine

Anthony, We just started into whole house Restora last year.. Unfortunatly we had already booked our Summer by the time we got into it. We only did four houses complete. Restora is the most profitable project we do. Read the Warrenty. It not bad, Lifetime! It fades away. We'll do them again in 5-7 years in Ohio. We don't need to visit yearly and we continue to grow our business with new customers. Expansion is Good. You need to show most folks the benefit. Do a nice sample for them. The kits are OK, but you need fives for house work. You already are a top notch cleaner, just add Restora application. This will increase your bottom line. The middle tone siding seems to look awsome. You cannot do white. Try it on several vinyl products for samples. You will be impressed. As I stated before, we plan on Restora being 10% of our business in 2007. If I can help you, let me know. Flood Reps are the very best also. Thank You.
  22. Training

CoastalHydro, You can contact the Flood Co. Rep in your area. They might be willing to help you get started. Their products are great and they are very helpful. If you need to, call the Flood co. direct and ask who is in your area. Thank You.
  23. Decals / Stickers

Mike, All our trucks and trailers are lettered, signs on every job. This is a very important part of our business. This is what seperates us from the others. I am amazed at how many companies have nothing identifying theirselves. First thing I'd ask. Who are they? Thank You.
  24. Making shutters shine

anthony, You have the right idea. Providing a customer with the proper product and quality will carry you into coming years. We do nothing cheap or ready to fail. If you want to grow, do the right thing. Our prices are about the same as yours. This is our third year with Flood Restora. Our business this year will be about 10% Flood's Restora. We are highly rated in our area and Love using Great products. Keep up the good work.
  25. Chamos, As with all contracting, you need to know your bottom line. How much does it cost to run your business? What extras do you need. Employees, insurance and the final cost to run your business, what profit you want to make all add up. Getting kicked in the teeth is what we did for three years. It will only help you grow your business when you know how to run your business. No one can give you your price, only theirs. I know this doesn't solve your dollar amount now, but if you want to survive and be profitable work long and hard at running your business. Thank You.
