  1. Jon,

I don't think it is a big deal is just a salesmen name and number who we bought from. Ours were both new, but they may know of some used units. These Van's/Trucks are also used with the carpet cleaning guys too, so they may have leads that way also.

My life got turned upside down tonight as we were hosting a Birthday Party for our four year old. The bigger kids like our middle daughter six where down stairs playing and she broke her wrist as they were playing.

She fell against the couch and tried catching herself at the same time.

As I stood and watch the whole thing take place. I knew right away it was looking wrong and took her to ER right away. She is good now until we go to see the Doctor on Monday 12th to decide the final fix.

I wish it was me with a broken arm or just cut mind off instead of seeing her in pain. I wish all the Pain onto myself!

Anyway it may be a day or two before I post with the information, because I have that file in my up town office.

I'm going to the Deck Expo in Vegas with my lead employee and my wife is coming just for a quick two day trip just to get away and meet some collegues. We were thinking of taking Emily our six year old, just for some alone time with Mom on this trip and now it will be a must for her to go if Doctor says it's OK.

  2. Help, Beth I had a problem posting those pictures I did not see all of the post if there is extra pictures of the same thing. Sorry!

We bought the two small white box trucks one in 2004 and one in 2005. Wife would not let me buy them both at the same time. They are not a custom box truck. The smaller of the two has a low profile roof to fit in my shed which is a 8' door. The taller one is nicer to operate out of with the extra heigth. The trucks are on 3500 chassies and the Boxes are made in Elkhart Indiana at the Supreme Corporation. I went back to Supreme after I bought the bigger Box Truck and had them cut inn side doors that flip up for better ventalation, not srue if you can see the doors in the pictures.

We use the grey f350 for our staining supply van, and there is one f150 cargo van that is not in the photo which is another wash Van.

Let me know if you need more information on the box trucks and I will be able to provide you with great contacts.

Those Box Truck style are mainly use and bought by Fed Express.

  3. It took awhile to find the pictures John T. was talking about, but here they are. The pictures of the house is just after construction in 2001. As I look back at them know things (Landscaping) has really changed. It was kinda neat to see how far the property has progressed in five years.

  4. Tony Szabo has a real nice set-up in his backyard. If he see's this post it would be cool if he showed his set-up. I may have to get a warehouse myself. The problem here is that everything is so expensive. Just to have a place to park my 24ft box truck was anywhere between $200-$1200/month. Insane( I since sold the box truck so that solves that problem). The other thing here is that you would most likely need to have a heated storage space and that adds alot to the bottom line. As for now I have a detached 1.5 car garage that stores a bunch of items and since I have two driveways the one on my left goes into a 30' x20' slab in my backyard and also I have even more space behind my Jacuzzi. There I may put up a temporary garage set-up to store my swabby trailer but eventually I will have to move it all out. With guys going in and out of my house and parking cars on my street its just a matter of time.

We bought 5 acres on a private lane(2001), wooded lot, with about 800 feet of frontage of a golf course. The house was a 1980's Wick home and also a 24x40 shop. We bought and leveled the existing home and build our home on the pre-existing foundation of the older Wick home. Kinda looking for this private retreat and it was a huge bonus with the extra shop John T. is talking about.

To this date we are out growing the shop and can not decide to add on to it or buy something in town. Already have two business offices and its kinda of a pain when it comes to filing paperwork of customers?

Good post with some good ideas. My problem now is also employee parking, and keeping business and personnel life seperate.

I will post when I can find the pic's

Hugh's set up look's sweeet. Hugh you got the right idea because you are even in a warm climate too! Nice Do I see a port-a-John T. to the right of your picture???

  5. Well put Ken,

Franchises does offers protection and takes all the guess work out. You will get a great start, but you must keep you Franchise moving foward.

If I had tons of $$ and wanted to start a Fast Food restraunt I would go with a Franchise, because I know nothing about that type of business.

YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW! (somewhere)(somehow) I have.

  6. These stories that I'm reading about Sparkle Wash seem to be the same in my area. Their is a Sparkle Wash in my prime area but they are part time and I get work from their customers because they have screwed something up. I even think it was sold to another person and they are having tough times?

  7. Terry,

Has Your Business Done Entire Vinyl Siding Projects ? All We Have Been Bidding Is Shutters For Now.

The Whole House Jobs Can Be A Tough Sell When They Were Just Looking For House Washing Service.

There Is A Big Difference Between A House Wash And Vinyl Siding Restoration Cost Wise.

Trying A Effective Way To Market The Vinyl Siding Restoration With Out Breaking The Home Owners Bank. On The Other Hand We Charge $1,200 To $3,000 For Deck Care So Why Not Siding Restoration?

I Think Home Owners Just Don't See The Difference To Siding Restoration Like Wood Restoration And Sealing.

    Thoughts?

    Beth,

We Were Invited Last Year To The Flood Classes Offered In Florida For The Restora Program. It Was Extremely Informative And Professional With Excellent Case Studies In The Target Market For Your Personel Area. They Did On Site Training From Start To Finish . Also Had Your Personel Sales Rep. There That Takes Care Of Your Area Back At Home.

    Good Dinners And Entertainment

  8. Has anybody been using the Restora product?

We started using it in the 2006 season and have had good luck with it.

Its a nice extra service to offer to help out the extera's with the House Washing service.

I will add this now because I know some will ask?

Lower story shutters about $12 to $14 a pair

Upper story shutters about $15 to $20 a pair

  9. We donated pictures to the Pwna and kinda proud of it. But I also thought other people were also doing the same thing too. I thought that so many were donating that I was to be lucky to see just a few of my pictures list on the web site.

Always glad to help out but almost all my pictures were used. Don't know if I just had the better pictures or nobody else sent in to many to choose from?

Made me nervious at first to see most of my pictures. But I would hate to see other people using them. I wonder now how well the pictures are safe guarded? Look at my web site Midwest Mobile Washers and The Power Washers of North America. and compare. We are soon working on a new web site also.

I just hope the pictures are not being copied, I'm proud of them and don't mind for the Pwna to use them. I just hope it stops there?

  10. About 10 years ago we had a 1991 or 1992? Corvette. It was our first home we bought and first Corvette. We added a third stall garage to the home just for the car. Adding carpet on the floor of that stall and hanging all kinds of Corvette paraphenelia (sp) on the walls. That stall of our garage was the nicest room of the whole house. (I think)

I got a lot of slack from family and friends.

Ended up selling the Corvette because it hardley ever got drove. But I loved that garage stall.

    Thanks for the memory Carlos

  11. Ok

I will give this a try, but I will need to relate to a $1,500 average deck never really done a $750 deck too much.

Supplies- clean and stain also misc. = $180

Wages- cleaning and staining = $390

Gas- for the job and getting there = $30

    Profit estimate $900

But don't forget the pro-rated expences:

    Vehicles

    insurance

    office

    phone

    advertising

    repairs

    equipment

etc...............................................which should be 10% to 20% of every job.

real profit would be $765 on a $1,500 job. Which is 50% pure profit.

This is just off the top of my head with out digging to deep.
