Oxalic. Safe Restore works too but as mentioned above is more expensive. I have used both on vinyl.

I have been bust with PW and painting. Have 5 decks lined up that we can hopefully get to next week if the rain holds off. Washing two houses today one for paint prep that we will start painting tomorrow. Other washes lined up for next week. Just sent out letters to all my customers and had the website updated. Hope the work keeps coming.

Residential Concrete Chemicals...What Do You Use?

Ditto that -
Floor Sander strip
Doug Dahlke posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Any of you wood guys ever use a sander like the ones used to strip interior hardwood to strip an acrylic deck? I have one with multiple layers of latex on it and was thinking a mechanical strip might be the best option. -

5 Gallon Enclosed Pail

Try local car washes. Some of the soaps come in square 5vers with the wide mouth opening. I had someone giving me his empties until he started buying soaps in larger quantities. -
I have bartered for some marketing work. Working out a deal for some website stuff. As long as both parties think they are getting a fair trade I think it is great. I would probably only barter with people I know though or who come with a good recommendation from someone I trust.

Should I use the water tank all the time?
Doug Dahlke replied to jgotterb's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I always feed off of my tank but I don't trailer it around full. Keep an eye on it during the job and turn off the supply line when you have enough in the tank to finish the job. You don't need to haul all that extra weight around. -
The X-Jet debate
Doug Dahlke replied to PressurePros's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I started DS'ing earlier this year. Still have my x-jet and it has its uses but most of the time I DS chems unless I need something really strong. Much easier than hauling the chem container around, no extra hose tangle. -
I did a house this year with a koi pond less than two feet from the back of the house. I covered it up but told the HO I would make no guarantees on the fish survival because being that close to the house some run off might get in there even with it covered. My son did some work out there a week later and the fish were still swimming.

I guess he has the hatch back open to act as an air foil.

How well do you think retailers will do today? Black Friday 2009
Doug Dahlke replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I think spending may be a little bit more than last year but nothing great. People will be using cash and not plastic and going with less expensive and maybe more practical gifts. I know several people that are making donations to charities and not buying gifts at all. It will be interesting to hear the news reports tonight. -
[quote= having SafeRestore in your inventory isn't a bad idea. I agree. Safe Restore is great stuff.

I have used ox on a bad rust stain going down an vinyl covered chimney. Didn't need any pressure to get it off. Just let it dwell and rinsed it off with a garden hose.

That whole EC & BB cd is good. I have Robin Trower Bridge of Sighs in right now.

I made the mistake of quoting a deck strip earlier this year that has a solid finish on it. The customer called yesterday and wants it done. I now suspect that it is acrylic. It is not too big an area but I need some opinions on the best way to remove it without taking all day to do it. I have read about boosting strippers with glycol. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Removing acrylic
Doug Dahlke replied to Doug Dahlke's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks for the input guys. The deck in the pics looks great Ken. I am thinking of going back out there and testing the finish with some denatured alcohol to be sure its latex. If that's the case I may just have to tell the homeowner what all is going to be involved and walk away or renegotiate the deal. The finish was not in bad shape. -

Beautiful job. I can see why the owners were thrilled with it. Great work -
Hardiplank cleaning recommendation
Doug Dahlke replied to rj242's question in Residential Pressure Washing
There are houses all around here that are only a few years old that show faded areas in the paint. Some in higher end neighborhoods. Post some pics if you have them. It could just be a faded area in the paint. -
Resi wash, but turned down flatwork.
Doug Dahlke replied to Adrian's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Happens to me all the time. People want the house done but not the concrete. A customer I did a house wash for a few months back called and wanted a quote on the driveway two days after I did the house. When I went back out there you could see where someone had tried to clean a small section with a wand. I assume they finished the job themselves because they didn't call me back to do it. -

Looks good. -
When I used to x-jet I also used Power House. Only 1/2 gallon of PH per 5 gallon mix. Usually used 2 gallons of 12% and topped it off with water.

That was the bomb. Pun intented.
