The #1 Reason I hate behr is The Home Depot praises the stuff (well at least here in bend they do) and you would be lucky to get one season out of it.

I have not used F18 Max yet but looks like i may have to give it a try.
NICE STRIP JOB!

Looks pretty good so far. Keep it up and you will be a pro in no time

Hi Beth,
Long time no talk been busy this summer looks like you are still workin your magic nice job so far.

Krep,
Just as a suggestion you may want to ask for references from the next guy you higher. Cuprinol Solid can be a bet tricky to remove but must pro's should get 80% - 90% of this stain off with washing of course as others have said between the boards and knots will be a bet more difficult to remove.
I recently purchased a house and decided that I wanted to remove the solid deck stain currently on the deck and re-stain with a semi-transparent. I worked on this project for approximately 3 weekends removing all the stain that I could - turns out that there were several layers of the Cuprinol solid grey and somekind of tan stain under that. I removed approximately 90% of the stain using over the counter type products (ie. Olympic and various paint store products). I came to the conclusion that I had brought the project as far as I could and needed to hire someone. Unfortunately, the individual I hired spent approximately 24 hrs over 4 days trying to remove the stain and wasn't able to make much progress. Turns out he didn't have experience stripping decks and now I'm out that money. The remaining spots are mostly on the rails with some spots on the flooring. Is there anyone out there that has any advice on how to remove the remaining stain or would be interested in quoting the job??

i use it all the time good product.

Man that sucks! I feel for ya, the other day i droped my hd-80 container on the floor of my trailer and made a huge mess it had to land on its side of corse.

I saw this on a TV show once if you take some old nails and leave them in a coffee can with some water for a week or so untill the nails rust mix and apply to the wood let dry and apply stain worked on TV. I wonder how long doing that would last :)

I would charge around 985.00, and would include sanding the surfice of the deck and tops of the rails. Time to complete job around 6 or 7 hr's.

Not a problem on the picture thing...
I do not restore many fences here in Bend as well... most of the fences I do seal are New Construction as where you are most people do not like to spend the money on fences.

Nice fence, BTW...I wish more folks here cared about the appearance of their fences...for the most part, people are perfectly happy to build a fence and let it weather and grey...

Mike (Oneness), what are you uploading my picture for???
-
Can you get HD-80 in a bigger container??
-
You can use a product called stripx made bye bio wash put it on cover with some plastic so it will not dry out and let it sit over night then pressure wash in the morning works great for deck surfice.

I use HD-80 on all my decks even if they are gray (1/2oz. to 1 gal. with no dwell time) a good rule of thumb is to get as much info about the deck as you can like how much is still on the deck and what kind of stain was used if the stain looks like it will not come off easy then start a 3oz. to 1 gal. Spray a small area wait few min and I test with my finger nail to see if the stain is coming up or not if not add 1oz. to the mix reapply and repeat until the stain comes off. Don’t skimp on the Citralic acid I use a ton on all my decks to make sure I do not miss an area.

Those are pretty good results from the paper maybe I will give it a try. What section are you in???
When the 30000 house hold coupon goes out we get about 2-5 calls per day and when the 10000 house hold goes out we get about 1-3 calls per day they both tail off after a week but pic back up when the coupon expires.
-
try your local coupon packs you know the ones you get in the mail I have one add in two of them and this is all the Advertising I need to do
-
Excellent change! I didn't even notice untill you said something.
-
thanks for the tip i will try that next time
-
the makita's are great for rails but i like my squre buff for the deck surface we can sand a 1000 sf in about 45 min but one will set you back about 1700.00 bucks

Reed
Mine is the same, but it seems to work just the same.
-
Rob,
the same is true for Bend, OR as well but I still use $20 a gal stain.
-
I have to agree with beth.
