  1. Speed

I agree You need a lot of dwell time on bad decks. And that is hard when you are busy.
  2. How do you get the chemical on with 300' of hose??
  3. I have a good group of guys that have been working with me for a long time but I do use some painters (subs) that I know for staining a lot of our decks. We do a lot of jobs and I can not handle all the staining. I have been thinking of buying another truck but I decided to wait till next year and spend big money on a truck that will kick butt. We are looking at a great April and hope it will last all year.
  4. I had the super suckers for a couple of weeks and they are starting to have problems with the ball and springs?
  5. Customer of mine has a house in stoye that needs cleaning can anyone do this. Around 4000 sq ft wood stained siding.
  6. How would you clean this house? What sealant would you use?
  7. Thanks I will get after pictures
  8. Thanks for the reply, we have done them before and I was looking for some new ways of stripping. We are looking at using Ready seal because it is easy to use, any other suggestions on sealant.
  9. Huge deck it must have took a long time, just kidding. Looks good.
  10. Does anyone remember Mike Hughes and if he is in Business anymore? He was not far from me and around 10 years ago I sold him a Gutter machine that I had built for me. It was a huge shop vac that cost me 6,000-7,000 to have made and it would suck everything, I called it the Gutter Sucker. It was good for cleaning everything out of the gutter but it was not easy to dump, it smelled bad after a couple days. We used it for 3-4 years and then I wanted to get out of the gutter business and he bought the machine. I wanted to know if the Gutter Sucker is still alive?
  11. So the new season is upon us and I would like to buy some new equipment, what to buy. I need 2 machines cold water with 8-10 gal and 3000-4000 psi. Would you buy the Envirospec with 40 hp and 2 gun system at 10 gal. each for around 7,000. or would you go with 2 machines around 8-10 gal. for around 9,000? They would be mainly for buildings and residential so I do not nead heat for this truck. I was also thinking of having a third machine in the truck for use and breakdowns, what to do?
  12. Buying new power washers?

I use Cat pumps only and I know they cost more but I think they are worth it. We do alot of buildings also and have 10 Gal. machines already so I know the difference and would say that it helps in a lot of ways but yes you need to keep the water flowing. We can not have the water go back to the tank with the way we put the chemical on but I would like to have the clutch so the pump does not run, anyone have luck with them?
  13. Gutter Sucker-Mike Hughes

The only problem was to get rid of all the dirt and water. Open up that tank after a week and WOW. It did great on the down spout and did go faster. I also was able to sell people on the fact of it getting everything out and taking it away. When using your hand it is hard to get everything. EH?

Looks like something we could use???
  17. check your feet

Everyone should get your feet checked out. I just got back from the podiatrists office and it is not good. I need to have surgery on both my feet. My problem is in the joints of my big toe's. I have played Basketball since I was 6 and still play in leagues twice a week and golf for a long time. I'm now going to be 43 in Feb. and he said no more Bball, tennis, running or anything that will move the joints in your toes. I can still golf with a flag on my cart now. (Wow that sounds old) I will need to get a metal plate in my joints to make them not be able to flex and they will need to stay like that forever. When we do the right foot I will not be able to Drive for 8 weeks. (Insurance) It was my fault because I have lived with the pain for a while and now have no cartilage in my toes. He said that it was from all the abuse I have done with sports and that working with water around my feet for over 20 years did not help. I know that people have a lot more problems than this but I just wanted to let everyone know that you should get good boots that are waterproof and take care of your feet. I can admit that I even wore sneakers a lot when working over the years.
  18. check your feet

I'm not going to do anything till next Dec. since I can not drive for 8 weeks. He did say that if I do not do something then I will screw up the rest of my feet and start other problems. I will get other opinions.
  19. Networking

Does anyone network with other contractors to do the window cleaning, Gutters, Painter, Lawn Service, Stucco work, Deck repairs, Roof repairs ect? We do now but it is like "ya call this guy and he can take care of it". So what I would like to know is if anyone goes beyond that and has started another company or advertises together. I'm thinking of starting a company that will do Exterior Maintenance service for home owners that will have us networking with each others customers better. We can all advertise together and hit a lot more homes for a little cost. My gutter guy alone does around 5,000 houses a year and now when he bills them he will put my coupon in every bill. Same thing with all the others and Rolling Suds. I have gone to some of the other groups that get together for networking but I think that if it is just exterior services that I know it will work better. I would like to know who is doing this and what has worked.
  20. Frozen ground

We have been able to work but I thought it was funny that we could not get the sign in the ground. So this is better than nothing.
  21. Fish Pond

We did a house yesterday and it had a fish pond close to the house, we were careful not to get much chemical in it. We have done a lot of houses with ponds over the years and did not have any problems. I got a call today saying that all fish are Dead. I was shocked since I was at the job and did not get much of the house wash in the pond. I think that they had 9-10 fish and some big, it was around 100 gal. of water and I'm not sure but I will take care of it and make everyone happy. Did anyone else have this problem??
  22. Industry Unites!!!!

My wife has party's where everyone can come to our house for food and drinks but they must bring donations for homeless.
  23. Gutter Sucker-Mike Hughes

Thanks, I just wanted to know if anyone was using it. I'm surprised he did not try to sell it back to me.
  24. Gutter Sucker-Mike Hughes
