  1. I've not used RS Gold, and i have two customers wanting me to use it. I've always heard the durability is far less due to the clay pigments.....but what have you found in the field?? As far as expectations, with Nat. Cedar or Light Brown I'd do a deck every two years, and 3-4 yrs. on a vertical surface. What has been the experience with those that have used gold??
  2. That looks great, Jim. How many apps. is that on the verticals?? While you're at it, :) can you post some pics of your "honey" color?? ....Or anything else that looks nice, for that matter. If I applied "gold" to blasted wood (rediculously low sq.ft. coverage, due to porosity), realistically, what kind of color duration you do think on could expect on the vertical surface, on the weathered side (basically, the most difficult area)?? Application would be one saturation coat, hour dwell, followed by another flooding.
  3. Finance company

I agree about the bank....I was gonna borrow a small amount earlier this year just to get established at my new bank, etc., but it was such a pain to mess with, it just wasn't worth it. Now, when I need something I don't want to pay cash for, I get a credit card. As opposed to signing your life away at the bank, putting up collateral, and messing with the rediculous amount of work, just spend five minutes on the phone with a guy from India and get a 15K credit card in a couple weeks, at 0-5%.
  4. Which machine

Specs seem kinda big for a 13hp motor...... Oh, and when was the last time you bought something and said to yourself, "you know, I should have got something smaller." For me, not often. Usually it is, "man, why didn't I just buck up and spend a couple extra $$ and do it right the first time." Goes for trailers, vehicles, machines, power tools, etc.
  5. Pirate Jim, IMO, the pic looks funny.......the only thing that looks like what I'd expect the "Gold" to look like is the 2nd pic, side of the Right Side Planter. The rest looks kinda purple. I know that is the sun skewing the photo, so is the side of the planter a good gauge? How many coats/how old is the side of the planter in that photo. What do you mean you don't remember how many coats you put on a planter back in '03?:)
  6. Your biggest job

My biggest was a recent three month repair (ongoing) we are doing on a log home for the owner of Bass Pro Shop.
  7. Your biggest job

....or slap the waitresses in the butt, :)
  8. Those are really cool. What would be even better is if you had a crew of midgets that worked for you, and you could dispatch them out in one of those vehicles.
  9. ....I've never changed out a pump before, and started messing with it today. My machine is a HomeDepot special, 4@3500 Direct Drive. This has been such a good back-up machine for me, but it now needs a pump (after 5-6yrs!). I got it from Russ, but I doubt he is in the shop on the weekend, and I need to change it asap. ...So the pump bolts to the engine with four bolts. Took them off. Pump now swivels on the drive, but won't slide off. It almost seems like you should keyhole something to make it pop off. If it matters, the pump is AR. This must be easy, as the pump didn't come with directions, LOL:) Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I'd like to get it fixed this weekend if at all possible. TIA
  10. changing out pump

And some Thread Lock!! Thanks for the help!! I'm ready to get this guy back running, I know you are like me, you like those HD specials!! Glad to see are doing well T, haven't seen you on the boards much lately,
  11. Post Caps

www.aloghomestore.com www.loghelp.com I even think Lowe's sells something of this nature, though not "real" copper.
  12. Percarb shelf life

Never heard about a "shelf life" on oxalic, either. I've heard 1.5 hrs. on mixed Percarb. Didn't know it had a shelflife dry, learn something every day!
  13. thanks for the input everyone, ...correct, that is GOLD on Reed's famous gazebo, but that is dark western cedar wood. I may mix it with light brown like Pirate Jim said, I bet that would look good. Got any pics like that Jim, namely on PT wood?
  14. Environmental Help

    sure Aaron, jonathanmarkfife@hotmail.com
  15. They don't hype it because it has clay pigments, isn't supposed to last as long. Does look nice,
  16. changing out pump

you guys still there?? Got it off, that keyway is broke in half!! Can I get another one?? Can I just use the two pieces together??
  17. changing out pump

The challenge is ON!! ...Going outside to see if I can apply a little "table muscle" to the situation.....
  18. Finance company

ahh, so you are basically still just getting started. I thought you had a full crew going and needed to expand to keep up, and that is why I was curious why you didn't have some capital. Make this a personal decision. Are you a risk-taker by nature?? Does the thought of being in debt to someone hinder your free spirit?? I don't think borrowing is for everyone, you have to be of a certain personality type to make it work, and when I say "work", I mean be able to enjoy life and live it full, not in fear. Or course, when I say "borrow", I mean for things other than a home, which most of us have to borrow for.
  19. Finance company

My personal opinion, I don't think you should be thinking of expanding if you don't have the capital to do so. If you were wanting to finance because the interest rate was far lower than what you could earn with it invested, that would be one thing......but, since you are thinking of hitting up the fam I am assuming you don't have the liquid. Bust it hard this year and try and put away 20K and expand next year. That would also allow you to take your time and look around and buy used, at the end of the year when everyone is going out of biz.
  20. Your biggest job

:) He won't tell us Ron, suppose he doesn't trust us:) I thought everyone knows, you are supposed to "trust" people you meet on the internet:) ....I think he had to sign lots of 'confidentiality stuff', so I doubt our begging will help:)
  21. Diamond Jim--pull up a few photos of the Alaskan and PO,
  22. Port Orford!!! That is it!! I knew "Pirate Jim" would know it. Do you like it? What makes it difficult??
  23. Environmental Help

Aaron-- ....Are you "Alpine"?? When I lived in TN, I saw your guys out a lot. The did the windows near my apt., strip mall in Cool Springs across from Carrabba's. FWIW, I think you are in the best untapped deck market in the country. Regarding the question, is sanding an option?? If not, how about just "water blasting" the wood, and buffing afterwards?? It's not just the chem getting into the water, you've also gotta think about whatever it is taking off is going to go there too. I'd just use water. And since it is Redwood, I'd brighten with Citric Acid (Harcros Chem. on Murf. Rd.). Show customer MSDS, citric is a food-grade product. Could you apply stain by hand?? That would make your preferred-stain situation a moot argument. The "Redwood Only" ReadySeal in Light Brown looks beautiful on Redwood. If you ever want any referrals or some of my past customer names, shoot me an email.
