  1. WaterTanks - How to?

I run a direct drive pump from of a supply tank with no problems. It is a 100 gal. tank. 4.6 GPM 3500 PSI pump. There is also a 210 Gal. tank in the van that feeds back to the trailer from gravity. But it works with just the 100 gal. tank by itself. Also run a bypass back into the tank. This keeps cool water cycling through the pump during times when the trigger is shut off. Jeff
  2. need some ideas for an enclosed trailer ramp

Race car trailers have spring assisted ramps. But the ramp is also the back door. Not sure if a conversion to this is simple or not. They sell them with the kind of ramp you're talking about, maybe you could buy the door as a replacement and just attach it. Just throwing an idea out at ya'. Jeff
  3. Good ole Walmart

Most can't worry about what the future holds. Even if they were so inclined , it is now that is of most importance to a lot of people. A lot of families aren't making it now, so they must save anywhere they can. And if wal-mart profits from being the cheapest, well I guess they are doing what they need to do to have a thriving business. It's not a perfect world. Jeff
  4. Good ole Walmart

I think the problem though actually begins with the consumer. When stores purchase products for resale, they have to buy what they can resale at a profit. Don't get me wrong, I hate this stuff too, but the fact is, American companies can't compete with foreign companies as far as cost is involved. Consumers look for the best prices, the best prices come from overseas, if a store tries to buy everything USA, they will not survive, because most people are looking for the better price, most won't cut off there nose to spite their face. People have to do what's is best for them and their families. Until American companies can compete with cost, it will always be this way. BUT I prefer having set minimum wage and other criteria, even though these are factors as to why American companies have trouble competing. The quality of life here is better than those countries where all that cheap stuff comes from, and higher costs is the trade off. But I understand what you mean by hypocrite, but then wal-mart doesn't much care what anyone thinks, they do as they please because it is us, the consumer that enables them. I go to wal-mart because of cost and selection, and I probably always will. It's convenient.
  5. The basics first: I think that GPM should run that scrubber. Slow down the pace Check nozzles' position Make sure the nozzles aren't clogged Jeff
  6. concrete cleaning

Basic knowledge and experimenting with mixing for your cleaning needs will be the best. I don't use f-18, but if it will mix with bleach that is a plus. Jeff
  7. concrete cleaning

If the house mix works for you then use it, that is what matters most,.RESULTS. Not to mention being comfortable with the product and knowing how it reacts with surroundings. I like the hydroxide and bleach myself, and on some type stains oxalic acid works well, and it is also a very good overall brightener of concrete. But I'm sure there are numerous ideas and strengths you can use. I put mine up as only a bench mark. But Mike is right about the sodium hydroxide, it's very strong, so don't go overboard with it. But at the right strength it's safe to use and very effective, and cheap. Jeff
  8. I need feedback on my flier

Get some pictures on there,........ Pictures,...SELL!!! They also add initial appeal to the customer (Not as likely to go directly into the trash)
  9. I made a ladder rack for my van about 8 years ago. I made it out of 2" PVC pipe. Still holding up, looks good, glue it together and with the elbows and other fittings you get nice clean connections and square corners. Can be painted for looks, but either way it's light and will never rust.Started as temporary but seems to be permanent. At that time, it was around $40.00. Will be tougher to stabilize seeing how it will have to be "tall", but just thought I'd throw it out there.
  10. Higher oil prices mean lost profits

I always say, " I don't buy my gas, my customers do" Just gotta charge or you'll be going backwards. Jeff
  11. concrete cleaning

When you do get a surface cleaner you'll be wondering how you did it before. They aren't cheap, but when you get one you'll see why. They also make you look more professional, especially when you get professional results. You can also use the professional look thing to charge a little more money and yet still cut your time WAY down. But with that said, utilizing the proper chemicals for the task is key. Let dwell long enough to make the wand washing easier, and you'll be able to get by that way until you can get a surface cleaner. Go rent one and see what you think. But keep in mind that you'll need a good GPM machine (at least 4 gal a minute, depending on the size of the surface cleaner. A 16" surface cleaner is better with lower GPM. But it will give you a taste of the efficiency by renting. Sodium Hydroxide and chlorine is a good general concrete cleaner mix. My mix is 10 gal. 12.5% chlorine with 2 lbs. sodium hydroxide and 25 gal. water to make a total mix of 35 gal. This mix is just a benchmark for you, you can adjust it to suit your needs. But it's always at least nice to have an idea of where to start. Jeff
  12. sodium hypochlorite

Once you get established and the people in the community(s) in which you serve, see and hear of your quality of work, the questions will soon subside for the most part, at least that has been my experience. Once you get a good name, people will trust in that alone in most cases. Tell them you're doing what the industry recommends. You can also take note of any dead or dying plants before the job begins and show them to the customer, because some may not even realize they have dying plants or flowers until after they get out and start checking out your work. Also look for damaged siding, broken or cracked windows etc... Jeff
  13. Probably difficult to get a good definite picture, but a picture may help someone here determine the possible cause and maybe a solution. Is it all over or just one area? Is the homeowner complaining or is it just something you noticed? Always nice to do a good job, but you can only get the results that a job will give you. So it may not be anything you did. Jeff
  14. Just wondering about "Homish" is that another sect? Never heard that before. I live in Central Pa where we have a few "Amish" communities. Not real familiar with the different sects, but Mennonite would be another one I guess. Jeff
  15. Is increasing Price after quote right?

Big mistake to raise the cost on the customer. You'll look like you didn't know what you were doing in the first place by not foreseeing the need for a lift. If the $300.00 was for the roof only I don't see how you are gonna have to pay out of your pocket for the lift rental. I see no way you have $150.00 tied up in a job like this to this point. You just won't make any or as much money as you had hoped for. Jeff
  16. Hourly/Daily rate

Oh no, a double posting!! Jeff
  17. Hourly/Daily rate

If I gave hourly rates I'd never get any work, simply because I know what I average an hour now, and people do not like to hear those type of numbers when looking for an hourly rate. If you make it to please a customer then more than likely you won't be pleased. Tell them a flat rate price and when the jobs done they can figure the hourly rate from there. Jeff
  18. I just bought a Rotomax turbo nozzle, the one I had before was from Suttner. My question is the operation of the Rotomax. Am I correct in seeing that it does dual purpose, shoots straight or the turbo function? At I put a filter on it and must have turned while doing so because when I tried it , it shot straight, so I assumed there was a problem, but I did get it working by turning back, I guess that's what the "stop" arrow on the side of the housing means. Just never seen this before and wanted to make sure it is ok. Thanks!! Jeff
  19. Rotomax turbo nozzle?

Yes Jeff, that's how it works. Jeff
  20. $2000 hose reel.. wow

I'm ordering three because I'll be saving $790.00 on each. How can you top that!!! Jeff
  21. Best cleaning solution

I would suggest oxalic, as Doug said it looks like rust. Jeff
  22. I just ordered a pump from Sunbrite Supply and now I think I might have made a mistake. The model# is EZ4035G that says it's rated at 4.6 GPM. I guess I should have looked a little better because the numbers 4035 may indicate this to be a 3.5 GPM machine. I will include the link to the order page and tell me what is correct. From other info I found it looks as though it is a 3.5 GPM machine. I already have the order placed so I guess I'll have to call them and cancel it, unless someone here can clarify for me, thanks.. Sunbrite if you're on today please clear this up for me here. Looks as though it's been mixed up with the EZ 3045G General Pump EZ Series 44 Triplex Plunger Pumps for direct-drive equipment Jeff
  23. Help with model and GPM.

Yea, I think it will be fine, but this is the first time with them and just want it corrected. Thanks for responding. I hope the specs are correct and the model number is wrong, as that would be the easiest. Jeff
  24. Yellow stains

Could be from hard water (well water). Oxalic acid applied to these areas should work for you. Jeff
  25. What does it take???
