I like anything that says.... "REGULAR"!! Jeff

Knowing how to evaluate aluminum siding and selling the job for what it is,...is the most important thing. If you know how to evaluate the siding, the method used should be second nature. But if the customer doesn't uderstand, then move on to the next job. With aluminum it's nearly impossible for people on a forum to give suggestions. Pictures help, but still there is the issue of the actual condition that only hands on evaluation will do. I think that is why the suggestions haven't been coming in. Jeff

Good positive post Dan!! I will tell anyone that if they want to open their mind up to creativity,..."start a business". Gets your mind moving better than anything I know of. Jeff

Decrease gallons per minute?

Just wondering if you have a buffer tank and how big it is? Jeff -
You're soooo right Chris!! Just isn't worth it!!! Jeff

Just wondering how much time was alloted for this job. Jeff

Vinyl or aluminum? What color is the house? First try high volume of water to soften it up and rinse it away. Next try the same solution, as sometimes this is the best way to break something down that has dried. But it does just sound like soap residue. Jeff

There's always a concern when mixing incompatible products, but the concern escalates greatly when you're mixing or using in confined spaces,...such as inside. Typically the mixing of bleach and dish liquid isn't an issue,..but always be aware of the dangers when mixing anything!! Jeff

1st Deck cleaning job, need advice.

Yea, I like Dan and his posts,...he just needs to express himself more!! Dan usually says things out loud that others may be thinking,... but keep quiet for fear of making waves. Dan is actually due a certain amount of credit for trying to keep the service industry at higher standards. Jeff -

Best advice I can give you is watch out for Dan. Jeff -
Don't "mess" with the calcium stuff. Doesn't mix completely and leaves a white film on anything it dries on. Doesn't kill as good neither. Jeff

Figured this was the best choice to place this question. Although it's ultimately about roof cleaning, it's about a product some of you fellas may or may not use. What will propylene glycol to if mixed with chlorine? Wondering if it will add extra punch to chlorine as it does to hydroxide mixes. Wanted to ask before trying it, considering I don't know the reaction it will create. Thanks, Jeff

Propylene Glycol?

Yea, I'm always thinking also Chris,...never know when one of us back yard chemists will come up with just the right thing,....or die trying,..Ha,Ha!! Jeff -
I don't blame for trying to get rid of that big connection. Also, if you don't already have a high pressure swivel at the trigger gun you should get one,....way less fatiguing and better for the hoses. Ideally have one at every connection,...but I don't so you don't have to...Ha,Ha!!! But I do have one at the trigger gun!! Jeff

Something to consider Rick, have you ever tried to take those ends apart while the machine is running and the hoses are under pressure,...it's impossible and would never come apart while in use. But,..I also use a trapped pressure unloader. Maybe someone who uses "the other kind" Ha, Ha...can't think of it. But they'll know what I mean,...anyhow maybe they can say how much pressure is on this type. You know, it allows pressure to build gradually when the trigger is pulled, Ha, Ha... Jeff

If you're talking about connecting sections of hose to hose on the reel, then yea that would be fine. Quick connectors are for ease and speed, but don't create any type of better connection. Jeff

I've seen already this year about 5 new lawn care services also. I'm sure there will be more, simply because most people already have the basic tools and experience to start in the lawn care service. Most only need a trailer, and they're in "business". AND,...people are looking for these low rate services that will be determined by umpteen choices.Ha,Ha... Exterior washing services is probably about number 2-3 when it comes to people just jumping in to make that extra income. Scrapping is probably also near the top. Jeff

That is something everyone should do. I had an issue a few years ago with some electricity at a receptacle. The receptacle looked good and sound, but water got in behind it and cracked and popped and actually ignited I saw a small flame and the vinyl siding bot blackened before it went out on its own. But that was a pretty crappy feeling seeing those flames. I was so glad they went out and I went into the home and hit the breaker and informed the customer that possibly even rain could cause that if blown in. Had a fire extinguisher ever since. Jeff

Thats a good idea Dan, I usually just stand there and let my eyes water and complain about getting it in my eyes, Ha,Ha. Jeff

I keep a band-aid in my wallet. Everyone should have a first aid kit though. Allows you to lend assistance to others in case of an accident of some sort as well as to yourself. Jeff

A small amount of water cycling through a hot pump will heat up. Every owners manual always states "Do not let machine run without the trigger being pulled for however long" Some pumps have thermal relief,( which I'm sure you're aware of) and when they reach a certain temperature they will dump water and then cycle in some cooler water. But I think these trapped systems is what they're for. Jeff

No I believe what he's saying is the water supply will be plumbed to the tank through the float valve, when the water gets high enough the water supply is cut off by the float valve and the washer will continue to be fed by the tank and by-pass the water back into the tank when the trigger isn't being used. You could let it run all day like this. Jeff

It would never get 35 gallons of water even warm. Jeff

1st Deck Cleaning/Staining Project - Step-by-Step
814jeffw replied to jmyrick11's topic in DIY'ers - Ask The Pro's
I'm not a deck guy,(although I've done a few),... but don't set yourself up for disappointment. The beading is common at first even with something like Thompson's water seal,... but then the beading stops after a certain amount of time. I could be wrong, and maybe your product of choice will bead forever,..but don't be disappointed if the beading stops after a period of time. I say this because it doesn't mean the protection has gone,..just isn't beading. Jeff
