Also this will turn into a serious marketing deal for those of us in the north. This can be done no matter what the temperature, could lead to a few more months of the working season. Needs to be put in customers' faces though and sold!! Jeff

Speaking of the white plastic/vinyl fencing, I've seen where the artillery fungus was so bad that the home owner said they were gonna just have to replace it. This method works very good on the plastic/vinyl, I know because that was one of many test spots, major difference in cost when compared to replacing this type fencing!! Jeff

Yea I agree, it's nice to be able to say " Yea I can get that off, here's what you're looking at " Then it's up to them to decide. Jeff
-
Yea you're right it does take a little effort, but like I said before, the point is that once it's gone it's gone and won't come back if the mulch is dealt with. And they do sell it in bigger pieces on the net. It also does it so well that you're not sacrificing the finish of the siding either. I think that is where the real beauty is by doing it this way. Jeff

I don't think insurance companies cover this anymore either. Jeff

I'm not really playing any kind of game, as I come here to learn as well. But I just want a few people to try it because it is kind of an odd little way of doing it, it's actually so simple it's stupid, and it's also a seemingly kind of stupid way of doing it, other than it does work and it works VERY well. Sorry for the the inconvenience to anyone who's waiting to try it. Jeff

Check your PM Randy. Jeff

This is really not about an opinion, it would either remove it 100% or not, if it didn't it wouldn't be considered to work. And yes, I've done tests with it for about a month now, and on spots that I know were there for a few years, (previous customers). Works every time for me and I hope others can make it work for them, some will do it and others won't. Jeff

Ok, I gave Beth the exact thing I'm using, I want her to try it and report back. Because,..that will tell the tale!! Jeff
-
Have you figured out what it is yet? I feel certain you will, and you will also be surprised at how it works!! Let me know please!! Every one here is counting on you to give an opinion!! Jeff
-
I think that if it were saferestore the word would have been out by now!! Jeff
-
Oh Beth, I thought you would be able to give it a try on a friends house to at least see for your self. Did you get my PM? Jeff
-
You guys aren't quite getting it, you have to understand that the whole house will not be done, you can't compare apples to oranges. This will be altogether different than house washing. You can't justify charging $150.00 an hour for something that takes very little effort and only one product. You don't need a pressure washing rig to do this. But, in reality you guys can charge as you please, but the guy charging $20-$30 dollars an hour will do ok and take all the work in this part of the washing business. Jeff
-
The reason for hourly is simply because it will have to be felt out and then maybe flat rated, because I definitely prefer flat rate over hourly. But first you have to know how far you can get in a certain period of time. Would be more likened to a painting service I guess, and they charge hourly. I told Beth in a PM, so when she's done testing it she will let me know her findings. Can't hardly charge $200.00 flat fee, it just varies to much, maybe more than that and sometimes maybe a lot less. But I hear ya!! Jeff

I know what I'm looking at Beth, I REALLY do, it is not spider poop, spider poop comes off with general cleaning. Jeff
-
I am going to tell it Rod, simply because I come here to learn, and to not give back wouldn't be right. We're all here to help each other,..right!! I still think though that someone else may know, we will see!! Jeff

This will be my 12th. year in business Beth, I know the difference. There is nothing left behind, you cant even see a shadow!! Jeff
-
I will give it up, but I have a feeling someone on here has also figured it out, I will wait and see, But I will tell you that it works EVERY time, and without any damage or shadows of any kind. Will definitely be a specialized service, but like I said, once it's done it can be prevented simply by getting rid of the mulch and replacing with something like stone. May peak some interest in certain homeowners where it is a serious eye sore, and also maybe realtors. In fact I will be contacting the realtors I deal with now for roof cleaning and let them know that this service is available. Jeff
-
Actually Beth, I wouldn't have posted this if nothing would take it off. I was just wondering if anyone else has figured out the way to do it and if they were offering it at all. But what I've been using does indeed take it all off, even on a texture like vinyl, and without damage. Also tried it on properties I have been to a few years ago, so I know it wasn't fresh fungus. Can't even tell where it was at on the siding. I've been trying it on every house I see it, and it works every time, so now I may offer it as an added service. Jeff

Your options are to let them live and learn,...and in the mean time,.... move on. Jeff

Get flyers out, put them as an insert in your local paper. You need " In your face advertising " to get the ball rolling. Do good work and more work will follow. Jeff

Oxidation on vinyl siding
814jeffw replied to Gutter Squad's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I've seen that weird siding before only a couple of times, (rounded at the bottom and smooth) and you're right it doesn't clean up as easily as the typical vinyl we see. But I still think the butyl-based at the proper strength will take care of it. I bet that kind of siding is expensive also. Jeff -
Flat rate is the way to go, just makes you feel good. To many variables in house washing especially. Measuring, doesn't always suit. You could take two identical house and put them on different landscapes with different obstacles, and have two totally different prices. Jeff

Shopper Just Called !
814jeffw replied to Apple Roof Cleaning's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Had guy call me once and ask about different things and how much I charge. Such as, "HIS" driveway, "HIS", deck, "HIS" camper, "HIS" house and he never called back!! I answered the same to all of it, " I really have to look at it before I give a cost " Seemed to me he was fishing for how much he could make doing this!! Amazing how you can feel this stuff out. Oxidation on vinyl siding
814jeffw replied to Gutter Squad's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Something butyl based such as one of the purple cleaners should work. Start with a weak mix and go stronger until it's bringing it all off. Be careful around any painted aluminum though, it will take the paint off of it as well. Applying with a sprayer is what I would do, and the warmer it is, the better it will work, especially at a lighter mix. Don't allow it to dry on glass neither, and try and pre-wet any aluminum if possible. And if any aluminum does turn a yellowish color just use a little acid on a brush and hit the yellow spots, this will bring it right back to white. Jeff
