  1. Jeff,

Hah, that is the most hilarious post seen on TGS in many a moon!

Actually Daniel is fun, very informative, and interesting with his posts. You just can't let his "sunny" outlook on business and life make you think you need anti-depressants.

    Just kidding around, Daniel!

Yea, I like Dan and his posts,...he just needs to express himself more!!

Dan usually says things out loud that others may be thinking,... but keep quiet for fear of making waves.

Dan is actually due a certain amount of credit for trying to keep the service industry at higher standards.

  2. Something to consider Rick, have you ever tried to take those ends apart while the machine is running and the hoses are under pressure,...it's impossible and would never come apart while in use.

But,..I also use a trapped pressure unloader. Maybe someone who uses "the other kind" Ha, Ha...can't think of it. But they'll know what I mean,...anyhow maybe they can say how much pressure is on this type. You know, it allows pressure to build gradually when the trigger is pulled, Ha, Ha...

  3. I've seen already this year about 5 new lawn care services also. I'm sure there will be more, simply because most people already have the basic tools and experience to start in the lawn care service. Most only need a trailer, and they're in "business". AND,...people are looking for these low rate services that will be determined by umpteen choices.Ha,Ha...

Exterior washing services is probably about number 2-3 when it comes to people just jumping in to make that extra income. Scrapping is probably also near the top.

  4. A fire extinguisher. Mounted one into the truck this Spring. Don't want the truck or anyone to candle due to infrequent linseed oil use.

That is something everyone should do. I had an issue a few years ago with some electricity at a receptacle. The receptacle looked good and sound, but water got in behind it and cracked and popped and actually ignited I saw a small flame and the vinyl siding bot blackened before it went out on its own. But that was a pretty crappy feeling seeing those flames. I was so glad they went out and I went into the home and hit the breaker and informed the customer that possibly even rain could cause that if blown in.

Had a fire extinguisher ever since.

  5. Cool down from what? the pump? how does the pump heat the water?

A small amount of water cycling through a hot pump will heat up. Every owners manual always states "Do not let machine run without the trigger being pulled for however long"

Some pumps have thermal relief,( which I'm sure you're aware of) and when they reach a certain temperature they will dump water and then cycle in some cooler water. But I think these trapped systems is what they're for.

  6. No I believe what he's saying is the water supply will be plumbed to the tank through the float valve, when the water gets high enough the water supply is cut off by the float valve and the washer will continue to be fed by the tank and by-pass the water back into the tank when the trigger isn't being used. You could let it run all day like this.

  7. Get a 35-50 gallon tank plumb it to the pw' date=' use a float valve to auto fill and shut off the customers water. Easy to do.[/quote']

    I knew I was gonna have a DUH!! moment,Ha,Ha!!!

Ok, so the garden hose will now be plumbed to the tank through the float valve, and the tank will be feeding the machine and the by-pass will just go into the same tank?

Just never used float valves or plumbed them in, that is my EXCUSE for being ignorant on the subject!!

  8. I'm not a deck guy,(although I've done a few),... but don't set yourself up for disappointment. The beading is common at first even with something like Thompson's water seal,... but then the beading stops after a certain amount of time. I could be wrong, and maybe your product of choice will bead forever,..but don't be disappointed if the beading stops after a period of time. I say this because it doesn't mean the protection has gone,..just isn't beading.

  9. Depends, on your needs mostly. If you are depending on the customers' water then it will be determined by how much you're on and off the trigger. When your off the trigger the the water is going to by-pass back into the tank,..so it has to be big enough so as you don't have it overflowing all the time. I would get at least a 50 gallon tank and plumb it into your pump, so you can shut the customers' water off and run off the supply tank once in a while. Get as big a tank as you can though.

Someone may be able to give insight on rigging a float shut-off into this, just can't seem to picture how it would work though. I've never used the float valves,...so anyone??
