  1. PSI Phil:

If your company does a job (house wash 2000sqft) and it pays $85.00 (your e.g.) and it took 3 men 45 min. to do the job. That's 2 hrs and 25 min. to do the job. You pay your men $10.00 per hr plus insurance and taxes will make it aroung $16.00 your expense that makes your cost $36.00, then you need to add fuel, chems, equipment, overhead & misc.. Your company might be making $30.00 for that job.

So now lets take the price oneness would charge for that same house (house wash 2000sqft).

$150.00 1 man 2 hrs and he pays himself $30.00 per hr. The cost will be $60.00 plus chems., insurance and all the other good stuff. That leaves $70.00 +/- for the company. Need I go further??

Ooh yeah your 3 men take longer that oneness!

  2. It's a matter of charging appropriate for what we do. I'm sorry the market is so flooded where you are. How much do other trades charge for service at a residence? By me if Sears comes out it's $75.00 before they even do anything. I had my heating system cleaned out a couple of months ago and the guy was at my house for 2 hrs and charged me $350.00. The point of this thread is to get people to think. We are the ones that make the prices not the customers!

  3. I thought about going with one large engine that would drive 2 pumps and many other scenarios. Since I don't always need both machines and if I had a dual pump machine that means one would free roll all the time plus if the engine needed maintenance I would be unable to work. If I went with 1 engine and 1 pump that was setup for 2 guns and only needed 1 gun I would always have to deal with flow changes. Haveing 2 complete systems just made sence for what I was looking for plus if I ever decide to set up another rig I could put a setup in it without spending any $$

  4. I wanted to share some pics and info on some new equipment we purchased. It’s not installed in these pics but I will post more when everything is setup.

First, I would like to say I called many PW Co. that build custom units and by far Bob at www.pressuretek.com far surpassed them all. Most in fact didn't even want to attempt my idea. Bob has a tremendous amount of knowledge and probably has the best customer service in the industry. His prices are very competitive and he has everything from his Bad Boy 30" surface cleaner, Great Chems. to the smallest fitting you could need ready to ship to you anywhere. The equipment it awesome! and Built flawlessly! So now the specs… 2-24hp v-twin Hondas are just the beginning. They are mounted on 2 separate frame systems that will mount on top of each other. 2- 6.5 gpm Udor pumps (gear reduction drive). Both motor and pump are mounted on a custom ¼” aluminum tray that sits on isolation dampeners to eliminate vibration from one unit to the next. And I must say running wide open the frames barely vibrate. Burners- these 2 babies rock! Custom maid by Bob to handle the gpm's I wanted along with a considerable heat rise. (I think it was spec. to be around 190 but haven’t tested yet.) Well enjoy the pics!

  5. I need to start off by saying what you charge is your own business….But when it starts to affect my bottom line I feel I have a right to get wound up. So excuse me if this is an unfriendly post.

I have been in the PW biz since 1999 and yes like most I started out part time. I know for a fact that most people’s taxes, insurance (workman’s comp., liability and health), fuel, maintenance, chemicals, equipment, food bill, electric, cell & office phone and a slew more all went up in cost since 1999.

So here comes my statement: Why in the Heck are there companies in my area Raleigh, Clayton, Apex, Cary, Garner, Fuquay, Cleveland, Holly Springs NC)

    Charging

    $125.00 (1800sqft and up)

    $135.00 (Up to 3000 sqft)

    $150.00 (2200 sqft & up)

for a House Wash? I mean come on I know income & real estate rates vary but lets get real guys your KILLING the industry! I don’t see why a minimum amount for a 2 story HW should be less than $175.00. I know a lot of these companies are part time and don’t do anything other than the siding for those prices but lets wake up if you ever want to do this full time you need to run it like a full time business. If your in the same area as me and agree or disagree post a reply.

  6. I usually do a test spot when I go out on estimates but took a diferent vehicle on this one and didn't have any stripper.

Beth, There must be something undisclosed in the product lit. because I hit this deck with everything I had. I did all the stuff you suggested and nothing would work. It made me so frustrated that I even tried just blsating it with full pressure and still nothing.

  7. Not to start a pissing contest but it is an alkyd base product not a acrylic. They may have some products that are an acrylic base but the one this customer had was an alkyd/oil base. It is product #2710 Series Data Below:
