Well thanks for the reply The way I bid is:
sf of deck space
lin ft of railings x's 3.2 to get rough sf of railings
sf of pilings
sf of stringers below
steps either sf or 4.00 per step
all at .85 a sq ft.... I will go broke if I work any cheaper than that

man ole man, This is getting ridculous.. People down here in South Texas do NOT want to pay any good money for deck cleaning and staining. In my coastal area I am not regarded as a lowballer, (I hope) because I am the only deck contractor in a radius of say 25-40 miles.. I bid a deck earlier today at .85 cents a s.f. Bid included material, sealers, cleaners, (didnt need stripped) 2300 s.f total of deck and spindles, railings, all pilings(10x10 at 8 feet high 35 in all,) all 500 lin feet of stringers below, all fascia, total of 28 stairs, and to top it off, Outside of railing is 12 feet off the ground.. LOTS OF LADDER work. I told my wife, if he cant pay price of $1955.00 for all that work materials included, Than I will save money staying home and sipping beer all day rather than drive 35 miles to get there in the first place,, DID I mention??? IT IS A BEACH HOME.. 100 yards from the Gulf, Winds are steady at 15-25 knots all day long. Hence All work would have to be done with a weenee roller ,mitt on railings (DONT FORGET ALL THE LADDER WORK) AND A BRUSH as No way I could spray in that kind of wind..
Any comments feel free. :lgtear:

I dont have one yet, but just ordered all the stuff to make oneBasically you start with a pump (mines a 2gpm 60psi) 12 volt is good since you never know if youll have electricity on site. So youll get a good battery (marine or tractor battery is usually smaller and easier)
Depending on the size of your pump inlets youll need a decent length of polybraid tubing or something similar for your hose. On the inlet side of the pump you can use a shorter piece of hose to draw from a bucket or tank. On the outlet side youll use your hose (100ft is what i got) and connect to a trigger gun. Got all my stuff from pressuretek.com but I think they sell other components from other stores.
I dont know much about assembling it all yet, but im guessing some quick connects on the hose will be nice so you can disconnect the gun if you want.
I was wondering what size hose on the discharge side and what kind of trigger gun?? Also at 60 psi and 1.8 gpm,, what kind of flow is coming out?? i.e. a mist type or spray etc??
Thanks

Yeppers I almost always have my 6x12 cargo trailer on the job.. When last nights cheap beer, and greasy burgers take effect, hahha I just head to the the trailer and close the doors and get my ole' trusty 5'er out and YES ALWAYS keep some good paper towels or TP on board.. 10# boxes of rags are way to expensive.. ..PS dont forget to open the vent in ceiling of trailer

Hmm I may try that idea.. The 3 foot wand seems to get tangled in that $%#*&$$&* suction hose... Yesterday was my REAL first customer house wash job with x jet.. Man it worked wonders I just need to do a little tweaking on set up i.e. longer hose bigger bucket dolly etc..
-
The X-jet site has had a picture of a guy with a backpack tank for quite some time. Its the small pic where he is shooting the chimmney.
In the x jet package it says."do not hook x jet to trigger but only to the lance"?? In the picture on above site. It shows the dude on the right using trigger gun only no lance?? Does anyone else use this method?

I bet you didn't even get your feet wet scooping the fish out from that one!!!!!
Actually I didnt get any chems at all in the water.. So as far as the getting the fish to float, I used a powerful mix of c-4 plastics and earth quaking depth charges of TNT. The customer got mad and fired me.. I dunno why??.HAHAHHAA

So what kind of finish did you use on the deck???
-
If it were my deck job, I would have gotten the money up front and skip town. Why go to all the trouble of wrapping tarps up and messing with a zero tip at 4500 psi ?????? lots easier to just get the money and go to the local beer joint HAHAHAHAHA just kidding deck looks great
-
is there anyone out there who can give me some details about setting up a shurflo sprayer for my chems/ stains?? I am wanting to try a .. homemade set up of the deckster rig.. Any comments would be helpful

I have that bid worked up to $4245.00 as of now.. (including underside of deck) HENCE the difference in price from my first post. This includes materials. I have been using CWF-UV cedartone. I havent had any problems with it . My decks hold their color and UV protection 3-4 years if not more. There has been lots of posts about CWF being crap??? I have no problem with it at all..
Whatever floats the boat I guess..

the pic shows only one side of deck ..oter side is a mirror image Thanx
