Percarbs
petemoss replied to petemoss's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks everyone. That does help me out to hear about the additives in EFC38. I always felt that the Wolman's didn't have quite enough kick. What Dale said gives me confidence in the product. When someone isn't dedicated to one mfg. but chooses one of their products because they like it best says alot for it. Thanks Reed for the info on the brightener. I have been using straight oxalic on the decks that seem unusually dark when I get done, but I will try to go the extra distance on all of them in the future. Michael Moss -
Around here most decks are pressure treated pine with no sealer. I have been cleaning these with Wolman's Deck and Fence Brightener (which works ok most of the time). I have been intending to go ahead and purchase a percarb product in bulk for the cost savings. After looking, it seems that everyone has their own flavor of percarb that they sell. I read that the EFC38 is supposed to be very good, but I was wondering how much difference their really is between all the different brands.

That make sense, thanks. Will the downstream injector not work at all through 1/4" hose, or does it just quit working when you have the wand raised well above the ground?

Do you think that I would need the 24 footer or would the eighteen work? I would rather have the 24, but the 18 would fit in the bed of my truck without hanging out. Also, is there any advantage in the 3/8ths line size model over the 1/4 if I will not be trying to run at max pressure anyway. I will be using a large orfice nozzle to bring my pressure down, so I don't think the pressure drop on the 1/4 would be too big a deal. I'm trying to talk myself into the cheaper one, but I really do value folks opinions on the right thing to do.

I have been thinking about getting an Extend-A-Wand. I would mainly be using it to do house washes on single story (some two story) houses, and to clean the outside railing on second story decks. Being unfamiliar with this wand, I am wondering if it will give me the kind of control that I need on the decks or not. It has been several years since I used an extension wand. Back then we called the one we had "that goofey thang." Thanks, Michael Moss Moss Services

Just curious. Is this skid unit different from the Allison Ironhorse? That is all that I see on their website. I guess I thought they cost more than that.

I was just wondering how everyone handles getting sawdust off of a deck between sanding and sealing it? Michael Moss
