Giant or General Flow Unloader

I still like the VB10. Don't worry about running the unloader at 3600. -
Giant or General Flow Unloader
homer replied to brian_p's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Are you sure you have a 4 GPM @ 4000 PSI? If you are using a 13 HP engine it is impossible to have that spec. Although there are quite a few manufacturers advertising 4 @ 4000 with a 13 the best you can achieve is 3500 PSI with that engine. Here is the calculation for Gas engine. GPM (4) X PSI (4000) divided by 1100 = 14.54 HP required. Manufactueres will put a 4000 PSI rated pump on their machine but they don't sell it with a pressure guage for obvious reasons. So - I wouldn't try to size an unloader based on their claims. Now - unloaders. You may also want to conister the VB-10 unloader. Of all the 'soft touch' unloaders this has a great track record. They are much easier to adjust that the typical flow unloaders. -

We build a lot of the 13's with a Gear Box and a TS2021 General. This is a very popular set-up among many professionals in our industry. The Max Pressure/PSI you can get out of this configuration is 2500 PSI @ 5.6 GPM- enough to handle about 95% of the jobs. If you can find a 6 GPM pump you will be able to get 2400 PSI. When we first took on the ZongShen we set it up on a test bench and connected it to a 50 gallon tank of gas. We istalled an EZ Pump / 3500 PSI @4 GPM and placed the high pressure nozzle into a recirculation tank. We then started the engine. The system had to be shut down in 3 hours to tighten the muffler bolts. We restarted and ran it for 85 hours when we had to replace the pump. We restarted and ran it for another 80 hours. We had to refil on gas only. After this test we sold the engine and pump at one of our equipment seminars. As far as I know it is still running today. Yes, the Honda has been and will probably always be the perfered small engine simply because it was one of the first in the industry. The ZongShen still worth looking at. Another little known fact is that the Kohler 13 is really built for Kohler by Yamaha. Our test shows it ahead of the Honda or ZongShen in the noise and fuel consumption catagories. It also starts easier the either in most cases. Anyway - I hope I have provided you with the information you are looing for. Have a great season and remember to 'feed a Stray today.'

A few years back we took on the FlowJet line thinking there were a lot of customers who would prefer them over ShurFlo. Boy were we wrong! We sat on our initial stock for several month and a few pumps we had on the shelf of over a year. When we did sell the older ones a couple of them had problems right out of the box. I contacted FlowJet for warranty returns and was told they were out of warranty even thou the customer had just purchased them. Come to find out their warranty in-service date starts the day we purchase them ad a distributor and not when the customer purchases them. We have since dropped the line. ShurFlo? I can never remember having a problem with them. Good luck with FlowJets. This is the start-up season. I would hate to see you get hooked on a NEW out of warranty pump.

Something that I felt compelled to share with you. A few months back my wife Shelley e-mailed this to me and out of the thousands of e-mails that I have deleted since then I find that this is still in my in-box and probably will be for ever. I hope it remains in your in-box as well or at least in your mind and heart and will make life a little easier for you and your loved ones in these troubled times. How to Dance in the Rain It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?' He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.' I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life.' True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be. With all the jokes and fun that are in e-mails, sometimes there is one that comes along that has an important message. This one I thought I could share with you. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. ______________________________________________________________________________________ I hope you share this with someone you care about. I just did. I look at Shelley quite differently since I received this special e-mail. It doesn’t make me love her any more because that would be impossible, but since this little message showed up in my mail box I know that she loves me as much. Sometimes when our life seems to be spinning out of control it takes something like this to remind us that life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain. John

Our favorite Charity is Suzie's Friends Animal Shelter. It was built and is owned and operated by me, John Allison and my wife Shelley Allison. This 'state of the art' shelter is, by all accounts, the finest, most modern shelter in the Sotheast and is made possible through the profits from YOUR purchases. Our annual budget to operate the shelter is over $300,000.00 and we only receive approximately $1,500.00 in annual donations. Another thing that we are both proud and thankfull for are our wonderful employee. Since we do not have any volunteers these great people start their day cleaning up, emptying litter pans, feeding the dogs and pressure washing the entire kennel facility BEFORE the start their day at EnviroSpec. So, out of every 8 hour work day approximately 3 hours from each employee are spent with our animals which - today - amout to over 100 each. Weekends my wife & I spend at PetsMart trying to find homes for our little buddies. That generally results in approximately 18 people-hours to adopt one animal. It would be less but we inspect every home of every potential adopter. We will not adopt to anyone who will give our animals less that what we give them at the shelter. If you want to see how nice they have it take a look at this Video. It is my first stab at this so don't laugh. Here is a video of our Animal Shelter Merry Christmas and thank you for all you do for Suzie's Friends through you purchases from EnviroSpec.

Mixing Emulsifier plus 55 gallons at a time
homer replied to Chris S's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Mix with warm water not to exceed 120 degrees and then you can add approximately 1 gallon of the 12% to 4 gallons of liquid Emulsifier Plus but only mix 5 gallons at the time and use it up. If you allow the product to sit (4-6 hours or even less) the product will separate. -
Acr Roundtable To Have An Open Forum On A New Organization !
homer replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Industry News & Events
...it would be wise not to hitch your horses to any Vendor, Manufacturer or Distributor. Remember how the PWNA was started? It reminds me of something my father once told me... 'more often than not - behind the guise of most unselfish acts lies a selfish motive.' If you are going to do something I would only hope that you do it as a group of contractors completely away from any influences, recommendations of anyone other than those of you who the organization will be formed to benefit. There should be no rewards for those of us who are not full-time contractors other that to give all an even playing field to display our products and tell our story. I would also suggest that the BOD be made up ONLY of a group of contractors dedicated to serve two Masters - the organization they were elected to manage and their individual business. Those who own BBS's, sell equipment, chemical, etc. should support your efforts by passing on information and helping to educate the industry. Then and only then will you have an organization that is not destined to fail. As a Distributor and Manufacturer I have always wanted to share our knowledge without any strings attached and I am sure that if you gave all of us at the distributor level an equal shot you would find yourselves with an organization free of any illusions that somewhere there is a 'puppet master' with something to gain from all your hard work. Without that commitment I fear that you will be just like everyone else who has not taken such precautions and find yourselves replacing members rather than growing your organization and being alienated at the Mfg - Dist levels. Whatever you decide - think it through very carefully and amongst yourselves over a cup of coffee at the local diner if need be rather than in the presence of those who could be viewed as someone with something to gain. Good luck, John -
Having to open gun to start engine
homer replied to gregative's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Easy Start valves will operate in any position. I didn't see that you had mentioned having an easy start valve on your machine. Do you? If not - install one. Also try backing off the unloader 1 full turn. It could be that you have accidentally tightened it down to far as you were moving it. -

My pressure gauge turned black
homer replied to Doug Dahlke's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
that is a characteristic of gauges made in China. The ones made in Italy or Spain have never had that problem or not that I am aware of. Remove the rubber cap and drain the liquid and replace with clear Wesson Oil and reinstall the cap. This has worked for others. -
There in not an orifice in the INLET - the orifice is in the outlet and that DOES NOT need to be changed. The first reply was correct. The by-pass needs more restriction. This can be done by simply putting a 1/4" hose barb on the by-pass side of the unloader and reducing the by-pass hose down to 1/4" as well. You can use 1/4" poly braid chem line for the hose. The K-7 unloaders we catalog all have the 'stepped down' by-pass port installed so any size by-pass hose will work. For example; a K7-3 will have a K7.2 by-pass port and a K7.2 will have the K7.1 by-pass port. Where evey you purchase your K7's from request the smaller by-pass port. You will only have to drop one size for them to work properly.
