A couple options.... Somewhat like Jon said, 2 x 2 framework to support 10mil plastic beneath dock and perhaps collect runoff in a barrel (like kitchen hood cleaners) set in a dinghy. or Crane day! Disconnect framework from pilings and use crane to set it high enough on bank so recovery method can be used to keep chems from water. Set it on 55gal barrels or cribbing. A crane is probably $300 for half day, x 2... at least. ... I can't imagine a chem that would strip, and NOT kill fish... Working over water brings a whole new facet into the safety considerations. I'd advise a full crew for "lake day" even if they are at low production levels, just to be there for a quick response if a problem occurs. r

Save gas and diesel,
Tmrrptr replied to Ron Musgraves's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Even if someone else would be paying for the juice, propane power might still be better than dragging around an umbilical cord. r -
I have a 5.5 machine, now, and my trusty HD backup and am learning, little by little... At this time, the amount of business I'm generating will not justify a bigger unit with hot water... $4k What add on hot water burner would you recommend for flatwork (grease & gum) ? Diesel, or propane ? What, is the difference between a Wayne, and a Beckett burner ? I would go with 12v, as I figure a generator providing AC is yet another step for nite lighting and sump pumping/vacuuming. Actually, will be going for Delavan next, to etch driveways and stain. Simer smart geyser next after that for reclaim use. thanks, r

Fuel costs being what they are, not-with-standing, I don't think I have the experience or equipment, yet, for the projects you might generate in Venco. r -
If I were in Texas, and wanted to do a patriotic logo, I would use a star... NOT a fed styled logo... r

Different quick connect question.

Hello Don, Well, I stumble into wank mode, from time to time... When life gives you lemons, make lemonaide ! My prob is, I show up w the best ever, and they want orange juice. But it's all good. Those folks in Texas are having a rough time... and the 9 firemen trying to save someone's building. Bagdad, Darfur... We've got it good! r -

Tmrrptr replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Ha! You DID buy it... Change is good. You'll have great fun with that nice truck. is it gas or diesel? 7.3 or 6.0 ? Can't tell if 4x4.. was the f250 supercab also? Ha! I ran a 3500 chev dually flatbed daily for 5yrs. You'll need to make some adjustments in the way you do things, but that's part of the fun. r -
Things are pretty lite over here, too. So I set out on a new tour, myself... And almost immediately came across a good sized place w bad flatwork and I went in to inquire.... No, we don't need that cleaned. We've been in a lawsuit with the concrete company. Starting next week abt 50k sq ft is coming out and will be re-done... Whew! I'm going to check back during the project, because they won't shut down during the work and there's bound to be necessary cleaning work. r

Suzuki98, Sry. Guess I had a bad day or something. Wish an O ring woulda fixed mine! Glad yuo're back operational and fix was quick and easy. ...another good thing abt the BB... reminder to buy O rings. Seems most the vender supporters have 'em on sale now, too. r -
How much liability insurance do you carry?
Tmrrptr replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Documents, Forms & Proofs
So, if we could condense pw to the size of a micro chip, run it flawlessly on veggie oil, and clean w green chems, we could do quite well in an international marketplace? Inquiring minds need to know. r -
Vinyl Siding Quote - 68,000 square ft
Tmrrptr replied to mobilemike's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Mike, you're on easy street. You said you've done them before... with success. Figure it based on what you know per unit, then multiply. Do a quick test spot, to verify your own information. Add in the lift and transit labor costs. walk the site and check for abnormal probs during working hours. Give 'em your price! If THEY need price per sq ft, THEY can divide, if they wish (and have calculated all the bloomin' surface area on their cut up project! r -
What fun! That will be GREAT for roof topping! How many gals of chem will it haul? My brother just bought a Zenith STOL project and will use a rotax 912 in it. I think he's parked his snowbird. What engine will you use? Delavan, or the old reliable shurFly ? Ha! Please send updated photos when XJet mounted on the skid. r

Wow! That's nearly unbelievable! Permit to solicit in AZ ??? Last time I was over there, the fella I was talking to abt politics, out on the street, had an FN .380 tucked in back of his waistband and was kinda proudly showing it off to us from CA... Yeah, we have right to carry, says he... But now I hear, NO right to solicit? Say what you might, but a man has a right to seek honest work in a common occupation. And if asking to clean ain't down to basics... It's slow here in CA also, but we've been out there shakin' the bushes, and a few interesting things have come up... r

Different quick connect question.
Tmrrptr replied to suzuki98's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Suzuki98 ???? Well, there's the import mentality. It fizzled, better scrap it and buy a new one. It would take less time to check for a bad O ring than to wank on the BB. Time for a new rig @ 0 down and $344/mo 84mos... Sheesh! I just had my kid pull the defunct engine off a Troybilt Horse Rototiller I gathered recently. There are certainly newer and better designed machines in every field of endeavor, but for some reason old iron just never gives up. saruki98.... Ha! pan62 r -
Build up in high pressure hoses...
Tmrrptr replied to Mike V's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Yeah! I got it... If you're always using the same product, and not cleaning out well as you should, there will be a build-up of crud in the lines... If you've got a shurFlo that can cycle a solvent for that product through the lines on a periodic basis, do it! Flush well w H2o and 'yer good to go. Preventative maintenance is generally a great idea until the crud in old lines is the last stand holding them together... then you gotta know it's time to budget for some new equipment! r -
Super Duty F-450
Tmrrptr replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
That's a very nice looking Ford! Of course it will pull your trailer, and also half the world. IMO. Ford is building the best trucks for working and getting a job done. I use an F-150, it has never let me down. Zero problems. Hecho en Mexico. The truck looks big. Do you NEED that much truck? Least you can get by with comfortably that will accomplish the task, is best. To me, it looks like an over-the-road, long haul vehicle, to carry a work crew of 3 or 4, pulling a 28ft or better 5th wheel trailer loaded with about 10k lbs. If that is your goal, you will be very happy. It would also be great lowered, with flames and a shell, pulling a nice ski boat to the river! r -

Wood tux on new wood?
Tmrrptr replied to ACSTravis's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I'd like to hear more about which products might have something applied at the mill... I can see where it might be a good idea to let mother nature work on the product for a bit, to open pores and such that may have been sealed off by the gazillion rpm planing knives in the mill... we'll see trex here, before ipe or hardwood decking. It's redwood here, and quality has just been dropping. . . What product would you feel is using an applied coating? r -
Hi Micah, Sry slow getting back on this one... ...You claim little experience w/windows... all well and good. Chance of you causing a PROBLEM that could not be quick fixed w a 2nd cleaning are very slim... when using a scrubby, squeegee, and rag. Once you get out the steel !!! Well, I've seen a lot of glass replaced at someone's expense when an inexperienced person got hold of a razor blade. Basically, I just made the presumption that I should steer you away from that bit of grief . r

Wet blasting concrete?
Tmrrptr replied to HYDROACTIVE's question in Having A "Blast" (sand, soda, dry ice, etc.)
Hello Jeremy. Whew! 40ksq ft of problem! imo almost anything u do w pressure including abrasive blasting will change the texture appearance of the new concrete surface. There is a blasting medium out there called Super K that is not as harsh as wet blasting w sand, and more abrasive than a soda blast. You might run a search for it... r -
Great to see you aboard TGS Mike. Lot's of good discussion and info here. r

Ha! Ha! We've had that happen, in the reverse... and it was a religious experience! Wanky HO was complaining abt this or that miniscule blemish in the drywall texture, to us, the painter and jobsite superintendent... and says, "Look at THAT!" As she points way up high on the wall. Owner of the company was quicker than I, that day, and HE knelt and also made a sign of the cross, stood up, and pointed to where the sun shone in a window and reflected through the mullions on the wall. It worked, we were off the hook! We've had moving spots on a wall from shadows with an irate HO, and another pointed out a speck... wet bruck in hand I went to get it and had to say, "Sorry, I can't catch that one", as the bug flew away... People, you gotta love 'em! r

Any opinions of my new 6x9 Mailer? Thanks!
Tmrrptr replied to fireandrain's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Left, right, on the fence... it all gets Grimey and needs to be cleaned. What's the big deal if, here in CA, we gotta do it by TM and wishful thinking. Focus of energy is a powerful tool. It's true! Example: Banging on pipes, streams of fireboat water, whale distress noise, and killer whale recordings by minions @ 80k/yr did nothing to save stray mommy hump & baby in the river. It was the focus of energy by all those greenies who spent $3.60/gal to drive their foresters and hybrids that gave them a boost in guidance. In CA everything works out. And the sun sets gently each evening. r
