That's an interesting observation, John. I suppose that maybe we have a different view of what a vender is since the are two currently on the PWNA board. One is listed as a vendor that offers a discount to members as well.

Henry, As you can now clearly see, TGS is a board where different views and opinions are respected and appreciated. Unlike that other BBS that has the narrow-minded 'Our way or no way' mentality. Having varying opinions on something is one thing. Contradicting one's own words tends to serve that individual negatively. My post might not have served the PWNA in the way you dream of, but it was with merit. Take it or leave it, but it's a valid point all the same. Have a great weekend!

So.....In this particular post you say you're against such things and mention the PWNA and it's ghosts, yet in other threads you constantly ramble about your support for the PWNA. Is this just more PWNA rhetoric and double-speak? Care to clarify?

Here is a pic of a roller pump. They're normally used on a gas-powered small engine (attached to driveshaft) and their primary use is farm applications such as spraying Roundup, fertilizers etc. I've tried both a roller pump setup as well as the ShurFlo. They both work, but the gas-powered setup has more moving parts and the pumps tend to fail more often than the 12 volt setups. With gas/oil being a re-occurring expense and the pumps not lasting as long, it's easy to see why most eventually choose the ShurFlo. A ShurFlo can be purchased for under $100 and it pays for itself quickly. On the other hand, the roller pumps usually generate more pressure and allow a greater shooting distance. Which will allow some to clean roofs from the ground if they're steep-pitched.

Adjustable Hudson jig
Don Phelps replied to VanDiesel99's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
The easiest way that I've found is to buy the black pvc sprinkler risers that are about 6-8 inces long and connect them with the white pvc couplers. You can lengthen or shorten as needed by simply adding or removing sections with a quick twist, then re-attach to hudson valve. -
My experience consisted of one of those little yellow Karcher electric pw'ers that we used for cleaning our patio and screens. I did however, spend almost 2 years researching the industry before taking the plunge, so I had a bit of a 'classroom' knowledge beforehand. Now 5+ years later and $60,000 worth of equipment in the garage and driveway, I'm in it full-tilt with no regrets. Every day that goes by makes me that much more unemployable are far as I'm concerned.......I love the freedom too much to ever go back to working for others.

Need help with equipment?
Don Phelps replied to Sky Clean's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If you're referring to Vanguard engines, they're made by Briggs & Stratton. There's plenty of great machines available. Everyone has their own favorite brand, as always. Go to www.google.com and dig some up. This is the one that I own. It's made by American Pressure Wholesale. -
If you're still feeling good about it, enjoy! http://www2.northerntool.com/product-1/200190024.htm

Might wanna check this out first. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls04/2005/shurflo.html

You'll need a float tank for most situations. However, considering the weight of a 'portable' float tank, it seems like dragging hose might be the better option. Water=8.33lbs per gallon. 8.33X35=291.55lbs.

We have a season too, in a backwards sort've way. In June, July and August many floridians go on vacation and travel out of the state. I'm slower in those 3 months than any of the other 9. As hot as it is then, I couldn't care less. It provides a good opportunity to even out the farmer's tan! :)

Since heavy pressure isn't normally used when roof cleaning, any possibility of a separate forum for Roof Cleaning, rather than lumping it in with the pressure cleaning forum? Just a thought.......
-
I get it from the local Lowe's. However, it's usually not kept with the schedule 40 and other PVC. It is normally located near the sprinkler items and comes threaded. For those that don't know, schedule 80 will be grey rather than white. You should be able to find it at any plumbing supply store as well.

X-Jet question II
Don Phelps replied to PressurePros's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If you take the xjet apart, you'll find a small, round insert behind the barb. It should have a # stamped on it. That will be the size you have. -
Coress Extension Wands
Don Phelps replied to PressurePros's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have a 24ft. Coress......Very light and dependable. The locking sections don't get stuck or fall apart like some of the others do. Pricey but worth it if you have enough calls for it. -
Stainless steel quick disconnects?
Don Phelps replied to seymore's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
A silicone lubricant will do the same thing and isn't as hard on the o-rings as WD-40. The best SS fittings that I've found to date are made by Hansen and aren't cheap, but they last forever compared to most others. JMHO. -
I actually enjoy the time to think and plan for things. On the other hand, I have considered buying some sort of listening entertainment. Could be a little embarrassing if someone were to approach and not hear them though.
