  1. Need Help With Mix

would using a regular soap nozzle be another factor? i know you all mainly use 0040 or something like that but i just use a 3' wand or extendable lance w/ regular soap nozzle.
  2. Need Help With Mix

I have a 2.3 GPM machine drawing .5 GPM through the DS injector. I just feel like the chemical is not "stuck" on the siding as much as it is dripping. Maybe I did not measure the SC as precise as I should have since I forgot to bring my measuring cup the past couple washes. Keep in mind I am an extreme beginner and I am not undercutting you guys, I am actually on the pricy side if anything. I am trying to take this business very seriously as I can tell you all do. Does my mix NEED TSP to be more effective? And what can I do to loosen oxidation if possible wthout scrubbing(any chemicals?)
  3. Need Help With Mix

I am currently using Simple Cherry, SH, and a little jet dry for good measures as a housewash mix. I downstream it on and achieve good results. I feel like I could get better results with a new soap. I just don't like how the simple cherry doesn't foam much. I would love some advice on better chems and where to get them. Has anyone used the Classic Brown from delco?
  4. I hate ratios...need help

still not helpin too much, maybe im just stupid. I get the feeling that you need to weigh the water and the chemical proportions to figure this out, I remember doing this in chemistry but not really obviously. Basically i need to know this because I want to apply a 'sealer' to vinyl siding that can improve the color/luster of siding and it works best around 10%
  5. I hate ratios...need help

I forgot to mention i have a downstream injector. I think I am more confused now
  6. Ok, so I talked to bob at ptek and he told me to see how much chem. my injector pulled in one minute and divide that into my GPM of my machine to get my draw ratio. Well.. did that but still need some help. Here is what I have: 2.3 GPM machine After 1 minute, injector pulled .5 gallons and just under 3 gallons came out of the nozzle. What does that tell me? I need to know because I am trying to apply a chemical at 10% dilution and dont know how to figure out how to pre mix it so when it does come out the nozzle it is at 10% solution and 90% water (1:9 if i am not mistaken?). Thanks!
  7. Advertising

Hello all, hope all is well. I was just interested in how you all go about sending out mailings (post cards, fliers, etc..). How do you know the addresses to send them to if you want to target a certain neighborhood? Also, does door-to-door end up closing more than mailings? I am about to begin advertising in my area and I get nervous about going up to someones door and bothering them, got any tips for a newbie??
  8. Oxidation On Vinyl

It was only 10 years old, if that. Direct sunlight almost all day tho. A shade of brown.
  9. Oxidation On Vinyl

All right fellas, I did my first house besides the many that I did for friends and family this weekend (standard housewash). I used 2 cups simple cherry, 2.5 gallons water, 2.5 gallons SH and I downstream. I used my new telescopic lance from ESpec and loved it. Mud and mold was flying off with ease, however after the job was done, I noticed a lot of oxidized spots still all over the house. I am going back to brush it this weekend but I have a few questions before: 1) What is a good mix with simple cherry (if any) to brush this house with. Should I use hard or soft bristles? 2) Is there anything wrong with my mix or is brushing the only way to get rid of the oxidation? (It was only a 10 year old house but it had no shade on one side). I have a pic of one side attached because the customer's wife used a degreaser and scrubbed the bottom half of the siding in the pic and you can see that the oxidation is gone. This pic was AFTER my H/W too!
  10. Square Feet

This may be a stupid question but when you people measure square footage for a housewash, do you measure each story separate or do you just go by the 'footprint' of the house? I have been using linear feet and feel I should convert.
  11. Hoses

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on connecting a 1/4" hose to a d/s injector and then a 3/8" hose on the other end to a telescopic lance. Don't have time to explain in detail but I ran into a problem with my order from Envirospec, my fault. I just didn't know if it would effect me too much?
  12. downstreamer

just wondering what to do with the stock chemical injector on my unit (upstream) when i get a downstream system?
  13. Dirt and Dust

Hey guys, I was just wondering something. In my part of Michigan, mildew and mold are not as big of a problem as dirt and dust are. Believe me, I have seen some mold and mildew though, but my question was this: On houses that don't have mildew problems, if I loose the bleach and just use simple cherry, will that do the trick or should I just bleach anyway?
  14. I just bought a Troy Built, 2500 PSI 2.3 GPM pw from Lowes and am wondering where to go next. Laugh all you will at my equipment but all I want to know is what I can get without investing too much up front to get the jobs done. I am not talking about going from rookie to pro, just what do I NEED?
  15. Homemade Downstreaming/X-Jet

Let me say I apologise to all who replied to my previous post, but I did not know that this was a site for only professionals. I was under the impression that it was also a learning tool for beginners. I am 20 years old, still in college, and I have no clue why I am there. I landscape for another company and mow lawns as well. I bought a power washer from lowes the other day not to start the new "burger king-of-pressure-washing-businesses". I am merley starting off as a broke college student that plans to answer to myself when I am the boss. So my message to you that replied is this: I was merely asking a question, looking for your opinion, not your criticism. Sometimes it's just as easy and effective to build things your own if you know what you are doing.
