Are PW'ers needed in Mid West flood area?
northwestern replied to MudDuck's question in Residential Pressure Washing
usually isn't any need for professionals to do cleanup. contractors bid that in as part of the rebuild or remodel. assemble yourself a demolition/cleanup/drywall crew and you'll have something. -
just give me a few days and I'll be a 501©3 "The Church of the Brother Who Has Not"

Longevity vs ease of use
northwestern replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I think it might be one of those trick questions...like "what do you think?" -
are you IN REALITY as financially stable this year as 5 years ago
northwestern replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I'm better off now than 5 years ago. I was young & dumb, only thinking of myself and spending money on worthless stuff. Now I'm much smarter and wiser with the way I spend time and money. As far as the future goes, there's no doubt we're going to be in a depression. -

Gettin' Rid of The Fuzzies! Orbital Sander or De-Furring Pads?
northwestern replied to fireandrain's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
no. the biggest difference between the 2 is weight. the osborn can strain your wrist/arm/elbow/shoulder/back after awhile. the defelting pads are like scotch pads, light as a feather You will need the special adapter for the defelting pads. -

you can get them from brian at the deck guide you'll need the makita variable speed sander/polisher 9". It's lightweight and you can use either hand with it. there's also osborn buffing brushes that also defur but may leave circular groves on some surfaces. they both work great, and make sure to call up brian and ask about technique and he'll fill you in. -

water in my readyseal
northwestern replied to CLASSICPW's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Water will settle in oil given enough time 2-3 days/week. I would suck the oil out of the container instead of pouring it because you could remix while pouring. just use your delevan/shurflo do suck it out and you'll be fine. -
Penny wise and pound foolish VOC laws?
northwestern replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Seeing that the last year was one of the coldest years on record around the world, the VOC laws should be thrown out. Global warming(along with evolution) is a religion not science. So they should give us the old formulas back and make better respirators so we won't get brain damage. -
amen is no longer listed in the members area. I think that means he's banned from posting, but he can still look or sign up under a different name.

2008 Sealer Poll
northwestern replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I think with wood tux you can give a solid date on when you'll be back to stain. I've let wood dry for 2-3 days and test the moisture and find out that it's at 17% and then I can't stain because it has to be at 15%. wood tux would give you the go ahead to stain even if the wood is a little wet. -
What are the "wet formulas??"
northwestern replied to jbruno's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
permachink, but I heard it wasn't so great on decks. -
Most black people hold on to the slave past and keep that mentality. A minority of their population leave the past in the past and believe in the opportunity that America has for them and become leaders. The rest willingly enslave themselves because they think the government owes them. Strange how the republican party set them free isn't it? So why do blacks get elected? they give the majority what they want, less freedom and more government. Just think if a black republican candidate told the people to get off welfare, get an education, forget about the past, think about others and not yourself ect...they would flat out loose cause the people want more government!

all i ever see in these political debates is seething mad liberals who just want to blame bush for everything. i hope you get your liberal president...i guess all three choices are liberal so you will!

we got to look at the positive here. with stock prices down way below fair value there some real deals to be found. with housing coming down, you might be able to buy a house for under 50 grand. the oil bubble has to pop and with people not being able to afford gas, the price should come back down. I'm trying to find the positive in this uncertain time. I might actually be able to pay cash for a house...saw a 3 bedroom for 14 grand! I might be able to get cheap stock that will rebound eventually and be able to retire in 10 years. i know the tax cuts are deceitful because everything has at least doubled in price the past 8 years, but lets not just blame one guy. we have the SENATE, the HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES and the SUPREME COURT. these groups draft up bills and these state elected officials are the ones who propose to spend our money. do you ever think that maybe bush was just giving the people what they wanted? if the state elected senators passed a spending bill, then bush signs it, then isn't he giving you the people what you want? i'm more irate about people voting for an issue and passing a law and then some democrat appointed judges say "screw the people and what they voted for, we're going to call this the way we see it". the biggest threat to this country is the appointed for life judges who can do and rule however they please and answer to no one because they aren't elected and don't have to worry about loosing their job. so quit blaming one guy, he isn't king george all he does is sign bills...he never learned how to veto.

I have a few ideas that would make tens of thousands of dollars every year with minimal investment, but where's the incentive to share? a "thanks for making me rich" or pat on the back? I'm not in a position to carry out these ideas, but some of you are due to your status and authority in this industry.

Some teak furniture...
northwestern replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I've never had the joy of finishing furniture, I always get the "well we could just buy a new set for that price" answer. Dry times seem to be a little longer up here so that's why i was wondering...which stain is good for outdoor furniture? -
