  1. For some reason, I do it every deck as I try to avoid them sitting in the sun and catching fire. I mean every time. I need to posting a sign on my own job site - "Do not, under any circumstances, jam soaked rags into pockets!"
  2. What are you applying that you can apply stain to wet wood?
  3. Wait until you have to clean and stain a shadow-box fence. They are time consuming and drink stain. After you are done, you will understand why you charge what you do. BTW - I charge $5/foot per side on fences and get that here..
  4. That sure looks like a lot more than 600 SF - maybe its the picture...
  5. Yeah, I kinda like the grey too. Have any photos of the deck prior to staining?
  6. May want to rethink the whole Wolman's angle. Not highly regarded in my neck of the woods. Their products are overpriced...
  7. White film after efc38/citralic

I am assuming that second picture is the "before"?
  8. Equipment problems (busted hose) in the middle of a job...
  9. Listen dude. Your initial reply was calling someone a "smartass" for suggesting that you fill out your signature - something that you have since added. You then suggested that the only ones that called you from CL were "ass clowns" trying to get your pricing information. I post on CL and have landed a few jobs. It allows me to steer people to my website and for me to rank higher with my keywords. My experience is that the majority of those that call me in this area are price shoppers and tire kickers. It may be different in your area. You have nothing to lose by trying it - after all, it doesn't cost you a penny. I will say this - anyone who posts there that can't leave their business name and phone number are hacks. Period. You come off wanting to learn and no one has a problem with that. To call me a smartass or to tell me to use my brain and to post a quote you think is clever isn't gonna land you any more coin in your pocket. There are many ways to land business but your approach comes across wrong with me and appears desperate, which makes me question your business sense. That being said, if my posts offended you, I apologize.
  10. Okay, just to clarify - you have posted 19 times, most of which is to complain about your lack of work. You don't post your business name, your location, or your phone number. You sit by your computer all day and wait for emails to come in? Craiglist is good for some, not very reliable for others. How will you know until you try it? The answer - you don't. It may be hard to land work without a phone number listed however. I am not really interested in getting in a pissing match with you. You tend to throw out "smartass" quite often, yet you do very little to convince others (well, me at least) that you aren't a hack.
  11. Last time I checked, there is a signature requirement. What lesson did you learn from posting your phone number? Legitimate businesses have their business name and contact information listed. I don't think he was trying to be a smartass. Craigslist is for bargain hunters and price shoppers. Don't plan on running your business from posting there. Tons of hacks and guys washing for beer money. If you have a website, it is nice for the rankings, that is about it. As far as the way you run your business, that is your decision. Doesn't sound like you have much business sense based on your posts here. JMO. Take it for what is worth...
  12. Deck Staining Help

Pics would be great. Have used a lot of Wood Tux - great stain...
  13. Colors that compare to Wood Tux WHG and BS? I have only used those two colors to this point. I want to get away from the orange look that comes across with the Honey Gold sometimes....
  14. Nice job Charlie. Very nice color...
  15. Should take you an hour or two - period. Not days. Do some research. You are going to damage the vinyl, force water behind it, or end up divorced. Use the proper chems, and LOW pressure. The information is here but it shouldn't have to be force fed to you...
  16. Titan 440i as well. Worth every penny.
  17. Little jobs

Nice job Rick. I actually liked the first color - I only see the red or orange Behr here...
  18. Greg - How did you get it? Would like to try it also...
  19. Nice. Good to see there are other great alternatives. Maybe I missed it Charlie - what color, how old is the wood that you are applying the AC on?
  20. Bad Stripping Day

How did it do on the verticals? Did you have to do a lot of sanding?
  21. Nice first post. I guess I will be the first to chime in - use the search button...
  22. Oxidation on vinyl siding

FYI - I don't know anyone that uses HD80 for housewashes, other than tough spots or rust removal . Plus it is way too expensive for everyday use. Try Bob's stuff at PressureTek and keep the HD80 for the tough stuff. Just trying to help man, I really don't need the sarcastic stuff...
  23. Oxidation on vinyl siding

You spend 5 hours per house? So I am assuming that you are able to do 1 house per day? If you changed your methods, you could easily do 3-4 in a day, and have time to market to others to increase profitability. I sense that you take great pride in your work - so do I. I am a perfectionist and still able to the same work as you in 1/3 or 1/4 of the time. Do you ever land work from neighbors seeing your work? What do you do then? Schedule it in a couple days? I just don't understand why you would enjoy spending 5 hours cleaning a house with a pump up sprayer, ladders, and extension wands when there is a more efficient, safer, and more effective alternative. All which will increase your efficiency, which in turn will make you more money. What makes you stand out as a professional? A homeowner could clean their own house the same way you do it if they chose to spend all day doing it. The way you do it now only makes you hired labor IMO. Just trying to help. Its your business and you can obviously run it however you want.
  24. Nice work Matt. You seem to run into a lot of those decks without railings. I have yet to see that here. Spindle hell...
