I would like to, would really like to, but can't afford the moolah right now for this. Maybe next year when I have some extra cash to throw around on training.

I'd say that the customer is the final judge on this. Doesn't matter if you use an X-Jet, a ladder, lift, or a bar of soap and a wash cloth, if the customer is happy with the end result and writes you a check, then you've done your job to their satisfaction, regardless of the method that you use. If your prefered method is making customers happy, getting you referals and other jobs, then there is no reason to change how you prefer to do the job.
  7. Henry, in Maryland what do you have to do to be able to use water from fire hydrants to fill your water tanks? Do you need a permit? Does the requirments differ from county to county? Who do you contact to be able to use the water from a fire Hydrant? Thanks

I'm a newbie also, but I avoid ladders like the plague. I don't even own one (yet) and will only buy and use one when it is absolutely positively necessary. I like staying on solid ground.
  9. How much Cascade per 5 gal bucket?
  10. Come to think of it, it was very windy when I was doing this house and I may have let the house wash dry on the windows before rinsing it off. That seems the most likely cause for the streaking. I wanted to let the housewash soak on the vinyl becaue the vinyl was so moldy and in the process forgot about the windows. My fault, will pay closer attention next time to the window dwell time.
  11. Hey Henry! It was just weird that it would not come off with a good shot of PSI, but a simple towel wipe got most of it off.
  12. Tony, that is the formula you suggested to me and I am happy with the way it turned out. I also used that formula on the concrete and that turned out well too. Thanks!

  15. weep holes troubles

Glad someone else has had this issue. This occured on the very first house I washed, which was a relatives house. I finished the the housewash and it looked great. I went into the house for about an hour and when I came back out there was this staining running down the sides of the vinyl. I wondered what the heck I had done wrong. Now I know.
  16. Spider Webs

Hi, I just washed a house that was covered with a lot of spider webs. These webs then picked up and retained lots of dirt. I was able to remove all the webs, although with a lot of effort as the PW process just seemed to move the spider webs around instead of removing them. The owners asked me if I knew of anyway to prevent the spider webs from forming on their house in the first place. Anyone have any suggestions on this? Thanks

  22. The good "old" days

The Oil companies have created a false pretense for raising gas to the current levels. You will never see them go down to the levels on that sign again.
  23. State of Affairs-Bulletin Boards

The various BB have been nothing short of a valuable resource for me, a newbie in the PW industry. At this exact moment I am being helped by people who I could have only met through the various BB's. I have called and talked to at least 20 people that I saw posting online and I have never felt misled or been given bad advice by any of them. And I have genuinely felt that they had my best interests at heart. There is some sniping, some childish behavior, but that is a small price to pay for the valuable information and contacts that are available on these boards. When I want to educate myself on something having to do with the PW industry, I can usually find the answer in a couple of keystrokes, saving me a lot of time and headaches in making decisions. JMHO:)
  24. lost job

Although difficult right now, when you look back on this situation later, you will see that Ken's words are the truth.
