WOW! The people in the PW industry are AWESOME!!! Henry, I sent you a PM and I will certainly take you up your very generous offer. I am stunned and really don't know what else to say other then: Yes! Lou -
I kinda know the basics, like make sure you tell the customer to close all windows, move cars, make sure any electrical outlets have a waterproof covering on them. What about exterior lights, especially the ones by the front door? Should they be covered? If so, how? I had a house with an exterior intercom that I was worried about. Should that have been covered in some way? If so, how? Any other things I should look for when scoping out a house as far a putting some type of cover or protection to protect from water and soap? Thanks

Hi, On the Envirospec site they sell two housewashing sealers, Plex-master & Sil-o-wet. They state that they improve the appearance of the vinyl and aluminum and protect the surface. this is the first I have heard of such a housewash sealant. Do these work? Are they worth applying? Do you charge extra for applying them? Thanks
-
Me too  But I ain't going back and changing anything:)

Mike, WOW! I am not using anywhere near that much Bleach in my housewash. My mixture is about 10% bleach. Looks like I gotta add a lot more bleach/Clorine to the mix. Do you buy your clorine from a pool supply business?

I do like the idea of the rowletts wax additive. I may have to give that a try. -
Residential Housewash Sealers
Lou Beach replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Thanks Ken, the sil-o-wet does sounds like more trouble then its worth though. Sounds like something you would charge extra for if the customer requested it. -
Correction made Mark, sorry bout that what ratio of bleach/chlorine do u use in your housewash mix?
-
You could be on to something Mark:)

Mark, is that the car wax? He has 3 of them on his site, which one do you use? -
Tony, what about gutters that are two story's above ground?
-
Do you spray gutters with an X-Jet or sprayer or do you brush the chems on?
-
Does Purple Power damage vinyl siding? If so, how do you keep it off the siding of the house when applying.

Whitish Haze
Lou Beach replied to Degraffreed's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hey Henry, How's it going? I bought my rig from Tom Vogel, I know you are familiar with him. I am happy with it, he's a good guy and set me up well. His take on Powerwashing is it's all in the marketing of the service, and he paid a complement to you, saying you were very good at marketing your business. I may need your advice in the future in the marketing area. Thanks for asking! Lou -

This is really a good thread. Thanks to Freed for sharing his struggles with getting it right refinishing decks. The responses have been very good and I can see that their are multiple ways to skin a cat, so to speak, and achieve the results you are happy with.
