Hey oneness, that is the kind of unit that I would like to find. I have found similiar setups to yours on ebay, but they are allways a thousand miles away. I figure I can get a nice trailer, hotwater setup for around 7 grand or less, gonna keeping looking. Thanks for the advice. Lou

Hey everybody, thanks for the input and keep em coming. I will look into some of the specifics suggested in the various posts, lots of good advice here. thanks for letting me vent my frustration here. I would love to be able to pick up a used rig with the basics (hot water machine, water tank, tandem axle trailer, some guns and tips) to start out with, but so far that has not happened. I was losing confidence that I would find that, but will keep looking. I will look into some of the alternatives suggested on this thread. Here is an example of what I am trying to purchase, this is listed on Ebay, but of course it's in freakin Colorado, and that is my frustration. I see these rigs a lot on Ebay but there always so far away. I have been looking for a rig for about two months and have been getting pretty discouraged with my inability to find what I am looking for. So I am looking for someone who can check this rig out for me in the Georgia area. Is anyone close to this location in Georgia? Thank you

Thanks Ryan, I will let you know. Basically, if its a rig you would feel comfortable purchasing as an experienced power washer then thats good enough for me. I just want to check out the condition of the rig, the hours on it, how it was taken care of, the useage of it, fire it up if possible to make sure everything is working. In other words, things you would check if you were going to purchase the rig. I am looking for a hot water unit, tandem trailer and accessories, and this one seems to fit what I want to purchase. Again, I will be back with additional details as they become available to me. Thank you

Hey folks, Looking for a used rig and have been told this is the best time of year to get a good used rig at a decent price. Since most of the rigs that I see for sale on Ebay and on the various boards are a couple of states away from me, how do you determine if a rig is a good buy or not? What are the things I should be looking for? How do I determine if everything is in working order and if the equipment is in proper working order. As an example here is a rig on ebay that looks pretty good to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46536&item=3844608219&rd=1 How would I go about evaluating this rig to determine if I am getting a solid setup that will serve me well? Do you kinda have to take a chance on the used stuff, hoping for the best or is there a method or way to determine what you are looking at on the internet is a legit, solid rig? Like if you buy a car you can drive it, kick the tires, have a mechanic look at it, ect. When a rig is in another state pretty much all you have to go on is the pics and the word of the seller of the equipment. Any ideas on how to make sure you are getting a decent used rig when buying out of state?

Thanks Squirt, so 200 hours or less on the equipment is what I should be looking for. Maybe that explains why no one has bid on this machine. Thanks again.

Squirt, I have been looking at that one. Is almost 2000 hours on a machine too much? Also not bids on this one, usually on ebay when there is a good rig available people usually place bids on them.

Henry, I have been in touch with Gordon from One Call, He is trying to sell the entire business first and if he cannot he will sell equipment seperately. I may not be able to afford his equipment, however, we will see. Thanks for the heads up.

I want to be able to run a surface cleaner and I was under the impression that surface cleaners need a minimun of 5GPM to work effectively.

Thanks folks, I will continue to look. I am hoping to find a used rig in good to very good condition, Hot water, 5gpm or greater, double axle trailer, 3500psi, water tank and as many accessories as I can get. Also hoping to get a surface cleaner as part of a deal.

Hey Folks, I have a couple of questions regarding pickup trucks. First, I am in a quandry regarding the size truck to get, the 1500's vs. the 2500's. I plan to haul a PW trailer with a hot water machine, a 225 gal water tank, doulble axle trailer. Weight of the trailer without water probably around 3,500 pounds. I do not plan to haul water in the water tank and if I do it will be about 1/3 full or less. Do I need a Dodge 2500, Ford F250 or Chev 2500 to haul this equipment or can I get by with a 1500 as in Ford F150, Dodge 1500, ect.? Second question, and this is a loaded one, which truck brand do you recommend? My auto mechanic says anything but a Dodge truck, but I have talked to people with Dodge Rams and they swear by them, but I have also read some stuff about Dodge's that arent very good. So appreciate input on the size truck to purchase to haul the powerwash rig and also appreciate any comments on the various truck manufacturers. Thanks

Hey Jon, People keep suggesting the service fleet auctions but I can never find any in my area. I stopped at a local enterprise rental place and they said they put all their vehicles on their website for resale. I have yet to find an auction dealing with the fleet trucks.

Just what I thought, LOL In this corner we have the 1500 crowd, and in the other corner we have the 2500 crowd. Are trucks not one of the more devisive subjects to get opinions on? Some use the 1500 and have no problems, some swear that you can't use a 1500 to pull a trailer. What I think is that a 1500 will not last as long as a 2500 pulling the same weight. It appears the 1500's burn out after awhile if you are consistenly pulling a heavy rig. I still don't know what I am getting. I think whatever I can get the best deal on I am going to go with.

Jon, thanks for the input. My mechanics are very good, they just don't like Dodges based on their experiences with them. I will NOT be spending anywhere near 40K for a truck. 15K or lower for a used truck is my budget. If I can find a used Dodge Diesel for that amount I would go for it, but how bout a Ford F250 or Dodge 2500 or a Chevy Silverado 2500 in that price range? I am starting out so I don't need or want the best of the best. Something that will work for a couple of years that I can get for about 15K is what I am looking for. I am looking at trucks under 50,000 miles, model years 1999 to 2003 that will tow a PW rig. I take it that a 1500 is definately not a good vehicle for towing a PW rig?

Hi, I am getting serious about buying a rig and was given a referal to Tim at Absolute Pressure Wash in Odenton MD. The referer is very familiar with the pressure wash industry and spoke highly of Absolute Pressure. Thanks Everett, I was thinking that the end of the warm weather season on the East Coast may produce some good deals on a rig, so I will be looking. We have a Pennysaver locally here and I will checking out these boards and Ebay for a good rig or I may just buy a new one, depending on whats available in the used department.

In response to a couple of posts. I have decided to go with HOTSHOTCLEAN as the company name, HOTSHOT, for short version. I have a whole concept that I plan to use with this name, including a consistent color scheme of red, silver and black, a logo that I have put a lot of thought into, a webpage and the consistent use of these colors and logo on all company advertising, displays, business cards, truck, estimates, ect. My goal is to present a professional image to potential clients. In regard to Absolute Pressure equipment, the guy that builds the rigs uses Aaladdin machines. The trailers are built by Bartley trailers. They are 100 percent steel trailers, dual axle with electric breaks. I was told by Tim at Absolute that the trailers and the Aaladdin machines are built to his specs that he has developed over the years. I have spoken to only two people familiar with this company (I thought I would get more responses), the original referal, Juan from Jiffy Hitch and Trailer up here in Baltimore and a guy that posts on this board who has a rig from Absolute. They both praise the quality of the product and the service provided. I am still up in the air as to whether I will buy a rig from Absolute or find a good deal on a used rig via Ebay or from networking on here. Decisions, decisions!
